Mayberry Jean jacket

2007-02-15 Thread Cheri Litton
Since I have joined this site, I have really enjoyed reading all of the
messages. I thought I would try it out. I am a Mayberry Nut, as with all of
my friends out there. I have my own "Mayberry Room" at my home, where I go and
sit to relax. It's such a fun place to share with people who stop by.
Now, down to my problem. Several years ago my family was at Dollywood, TN.
As we were leaving, I saw a Mayberry Jean Jacket for $89.00 and thought it was
too high of price. I left and I can't tell you how many days I have regreted
that decision. I called them back later that season, but they were out. Then
I tried for the next 5-6 years calling them and still no jacket. I have tried
everywhere. Sometimes I wonder if I was imagining the jacket, but I know I saw
it. Can anyone out there help me find one, or has anyone ever seen one?
I will keep enjoying my Mayberry chit-chat for a long long time. God Bless
You, Cheri

Trained noticer- Gold Truck episode

2007-02-15 Thread Silvia Boosten
I noticed that in the Gold Truck episode, Barney goes into the hotel with a dry
raincoat, but comes out of the hotel with his coat all wet on his shoulders
and back.

  Did anyone notice this?

Also, the streets are often wet in Mayberry.

Barney and Thelma Lou's relationship

2007-02-15 Thread Silvia Boosten
I agree, my least favorite episode is when Barney comes back for the class
reunion
and learns that Thelma Lou has married someone else.

I don't understand why the writers didn't explain their break-up. They were
so close,
and he said "you know you're the only girl I ever loved", yet he leaves town,
doesn't write
  and breaks her heart.

This doesn't make sense to me at all.

I also agree that having Barney fall for that silly girl from school
contradicts everything
he ever said about his feelings for Thelma Lou.

I'm glad they married in the TV movie though! I can't remember if they said
she was
  a widow?

Does anyone remember what they said?

What is TV Land doing?

2007-02-15 Thread Silvia Boosten
Why is TV Land showing TAGS shows in such rapid succession? They started with
1962 last week and are now already into the 1964 episodes.

Does anyone have any information on this?

Salt risin' bread in NC

2007-02-15 Thread pdking77
I've lived in North Carolina almost ten years now and have yet to meet a person
that has ever heard of salt risin' bread, much less eaten it. (Maybe it's
because I live in Raleigh, and ol' Barn can tell you about the hectic night
life here! I'll bet my head doesn't hit the pillow until 9:30 at night!)
But I was born and raised in West Virginia, and toasted salt risin' bread with
a smear of butter on it was a real treat. Up there, we could find it in just
about any store.
Maybe it's like ramps - a regional delicacy.
