Life with Lucy
The last Lucy situation comedy was called Life with Lucy and aired for 13 episodes in early 1986. Gale Gordon, her long time co-star as Mr. Mooney, also appeared in the show. I believe he was a hardware store owner and Lucy worked for him. Although written by Bob Carroll, who wrote many of the I Love Lucy episodes, the show was not very good. I remember reading at the time that it broke Lucy's heart that she was unsuccessful in her last attempt to do situation comedy. Re: Cars in Mayberry
***Then once Sam Jones took over the town council, suddenly?everybody in town seemed to favor Chrysler products! Sam was a smart man..*** Come to think of it, I seem to remember Chrysler products being preferred on Gomer Pyle as well, as Sergeant Carter's personal car was always a Dodge. There was an episode where Carter had a beloved Dodge (or Plymouth?) convertible that was stolen when Gomer was in charge of it, then turned up at a building site where a wrecking ball crushed it. The owner felt so badly for Gomer that he circumvented the legal process and immediately bought Sergeant Carter a brand new 1966 Dodge Coronet 500. I remember another episode with Carter's car being a '66 Dodge Dart. Gomer took the wheels off of it to keep Carter from going somewhere, due to some kind of premonition. And in the episode where Gomer comes back to Mayberry, he leaves on the bus just as Goober, Aunt Bee, Andy and Opie pile out of a Plymouth station wagon that I never saw on TAGS. Maybe Gomer wrote back to Mayberry and turned everyone on to Chrysler products? (And yes, I know there was a '59 Dodge that zipped around the background during the early years of TAGS.) Nice dress Nellie
Hi all! It's great to be back in Mayberry. I've been a list member since 97, though I haven't always read the digest. Sometimes that's the problem, it's just rush, rush, rush. (You know, she's right.) I've been reading regularly again lately, and I was de-lily-lighted to see this tribute from the Untrained Voice. Back in 97 when I asked the list about my favorite extra, I didn't get any responses. Everyone was talking about TUE--also a great guy. I've been referring to this lovely lady as Nice Dress Nellie since way back then. Glad to see she's so widely appreciated these days. OK fellow Trained Noticers-check this out. First of all, you have to know Nellie by sight. If you don't, here she is. http://www.mayberry.info/history/index.php?title=Nellie ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Mike as a grown woman I feel compelled to answer your # 1 question 01) Just what can you do with a grown woman? First you pick her up in your car (very important that it's clean). Take her to the various shops and bazaars of Mayberry (carry the packages). Then out to lunch (don't let the waitress squash her pie). After which you will give your opinion on the dress with the red dot or the green stripe (be prepared to say they both look great). Then to visit her mother. No doubt about, it's a fun day. Remember to avoid saying you have her in your hip pocket! Kim - Wylie, TX ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
re: Trains
Opie carried a penny that had been run over by a train, I believe? Or at least talked about a coin being run over by a train. Brad Neil Bentley Cunningham My card, in case you ever need my services I see that in addition to chasing ambulances, Mr. Bentley is now chasing trains. I wonder if he's going to try and sue the train company. Milburn Drysdale, Pres. What to do with a grown woman
If I recall correctly, you take her shopping and you watch while she tries on clothes. You tell her if you like the brown one with the stripes or the blue one with polka dots. Then you go to the hat department for about an hour while she tries on hats. When she's done, you carry all the dress boxes and the hat boxes over to her house and wait until she gets all fixed up. Then you go with her to visit her mother. You sit over there until about dark and then it's time to go home - and it's a fun day. ...stockings are something a lady wears! Top ten things I learned from The Andy Griffith Show (With tongue planted firmly in cheek)
10) A really good musician can get electric guitar sounds from an acoustic guitar. 9) Christmas tree ornaments thrown off a roof in succession sound a lot like machine gun fire. 8) If you want to get a possum out from under a rock the best way to do it is to jab at him with a pointed stick. This however is probably not the best way to get a bear out of the back seat of a patrol car. 7) A septic tank makes a good anniversary gift. 6) If inflation were factored in, a bottle opener with a little umbrella on it would cost approximately $42 today. 5) Even in a crowded store a really good shoplifter can hide about thirty items of merchandise inside a trenchcoat without anyone noticing. 4) Filling stations wouldn't be in business very long if they didn't make a charge for gas and oil. 3) If there's one thing you can't talk enough about...it's sin. 2) Giraffes are selfish. 1) (Tongue no longer in cheek) That you don't have to have sex, violence, profanity, and other such nonsense to have a GREAT tv show. In reference to trains 'A penny that has been run over by a train, IS LUCKY! Opie had one, so he or Johnny Paul must have been down by the track. We could all use a bit of luck now and then, Wish I had one of those pennies run over by a train! I have a couple of pennies that got run over by a train. I don't know whether or not they are good luck, but I like to keep them around because I am cautious like Barney. I highly recommend the show about the making of Waitin' on a Woman. It is everything that everyone has said it is and more. It is definitely worth watching. Any body else remember The Lucy Show, Here's Lucy and that last one? It was called Life with Lucy and it was on in the mid-1980's. Mary Grace Gossage (I'm not superstitious. Re. Aunt Bee on Rawhide
Albert Wrote: I'm presently going through the Rawhide television series (via Netflix) and lo and behold I found our own Aunt Bee in a season 2 episode! Titled Incident of the Dust Flower, Frances Bavier plays a character named Ellen Ferguson (she's also an aunt in this episode, Aunt Ellen). Though somewhat of a minor role here, Bavier is pretty fiery when she's angry and vocalizes so (just like when she did to Andy when he was to evict the farmer from his land for the new county road, and when he tries to smooth things out w/Bee and Clara when Keevy Hazelton gave their song the fast treatment at rehearsal) This 1960 Rawhide episode has Bavier using an Irish (maybe Scottish?) accent. Also, Bavier wasn't carrying or using a six-shooter or rifle here. Hey folks I have a Screen Actors Guild residual of Frances's for this episode. I also have one from Benji and several from the last season of the Griffith Show. They are really neat! AND They are for sale if any one is interested Christmas time is coming.
