Andy's parents
As far as I can remember Andy never spoke of his mother or father. Andy mentions his daddy twice that comes to my mind without a bucket: Class Reunion (the black and white version) he mentions that he struck matches on his daddy's boots after Barney says he was saving a rock that belonged to his daddy and he struck matches on it. Also in Keeper of the Flame he tells Opie at the end When I was your age I belonged to a secret club too and you know what my job was? Keeper of the Flame. You know what that is? That's the fellow that brings the candle and matches to every meeting. Now my Pa told me not to mess around with candles and matches and stuff like that, and when he found out about it, he indicated that I aught give up that job and he indicated it real well, right back there. So apparently Andy's daddy was living. Maybe his mother died young like Andy's wife and Aunt BEE came to live with them like she does with Andy and Opie. And on another note: Barn is rather proud of himself, but I just don't see him cutting and framing all those extra copies of the newspaper he and Opie picked up. We can assume he didn't frame any, save for the one in the court house by the fact that he mentioned his walls in his room needed painting anyway. So he probably lined the walls with the newspaper clippings. Like what I want to do with my old calendars. The cost of a TAGS calendar? $14. Cost of owning a TAGS calendar when the year is over? Priceless!!! Missing Pictures
Joe asked about any missing pictures. Only ones I don't have are Juanita and Sarah. I did receive one email from a fan saying that no pictures were available because Sarah and Juanita are in the Witness Protection Plan. So guess I will have to proceed with the question marks. I also received a picture of Sarah, but she looked so much like Lily Tomlin I had my suspicions that it might not be authentic. I am awaiting the official verification that it is indeed our mysterious Sarah and not Ms Tomlin. What would I do without all your wonderful people out there offering your help. It sure does add some spice to my life. Two Chairs No Waiting
Episode 13 (6 Jan 09) is about Franklin Canyon (Myers Lake). Andy also mentioned his dad when they were talking about Asa's gun. Andy asked Barney what kind of gun Asa had, and Barney said one of those old Teddy Roosevelt horse pistols..? Andy says oh yeah. I remember. My daddy got Asa to show it to me once when I was a boy. I have to share this information. I was at the Outer Banks this past weekend staying with friends. My friends told me that after we left on Sunday, their neighbor came home with a yellow lab puppy - seven weeks old. She said that it was given to Andy Griffith for Christmas by his family. But after a week, due to his failing health, he said that he just could not handle a new puppy, so they gave it to her. She works in Manteo.
