People mysteriously missing from events

2009-05-22 Thread Jan Isaacson
Have you ever noticed when a major character is not written into a
storyline they are mysteriously missing from important events? I was
watching the episode The Barbershop Quartet and was wondering why Helen
wasn't with Aunt Bee and Opie watching Andy and quartet singing for the
championship. She also wasn't at Aunt Bee's flower show or Andy's bowling
tournament with Aunt Bee in the episodes A Rose Is a Rose and Howard the
Bowler
In the episode The Song Festers, how come Aunt Bee and Thelma Lou weren't
there to watch Barney and Andy. In this episode they were not in the choir.
The only recognizable face was Miss Poultice. The same thing goes for Rafe
Hollister Sings. Barney was the only one we knew in the audience besides the
mayor. Where was Aunt Bee, Thelma Lou or even Clara? In the episode The
Sermon for Today, how come Helen and Thelma Lou were not at church and
didn't help with the band concert. Yet Helen was there for Aunt Bee's big
moment when she flew solo and was at Opie's baseball game.

Wondering minds would like to know

Jim Nabors video

2009-05-22 Thread margaret dishman
Joe - I thank you so very much for sharing that video. It was great to see how
well he looks now considering his previous health issues, as well as seeing his
home and ranch in Hawaii. I don't think he looks his age for sure. I love his
singing voice and can remember the first time he sang on TAGS. I did not
believe he was actually singing but still love it. Andy Griffith sure
surrounded himself with talented folks and seems to have kept them as friends
due to his big heart. I, as a fan, am so glad he found so many for us to enjoy
through the years. Thanks, again.

Regarding Tom

2009-05-22 Thread Ken Anderson
Allan,

I have been receiving emails from Tom Kessel asking me if I have any idea why
you are not responding to him. The messages have been very polite and he
appears to be sincere. I have no problems with Tom and as far as I am
concerned the entire episode is forgotten. He asked me if I could ask you what
more he needs to do. He has apologized to me and I think he has to Marsha.

I explained to Tom again that I cannot influence you as to how you run the
digest because you do maintain ownership and control of it. But I thought I
would let you know about this. I am not sure if he is able to email you
directly or not or if he is just choosing to use me as a mediator. So for
whatever it is worth, that is what the status is as of today.

Have a great Memorial Day.

Lots of luck to you and yours.

Bare feet on TAGS

2009-05-22 Thread Janet Anderson
>>>Well, Janet, now that the family is home again, it's back to shoes. Forget
>>>those flipflops and barefeet!

Brenda Jo<<<

'Fraid not, Brenda Jo. I'm just as casual with my family as when I'm alone.
Right now I'm running around in my socks.

Which brings a question to mind... How many times do we see people on TAGS in
their bare feet?

I can only think of five off hand:

1. Opie in the opening titles of the show
2. Barney in "The Clubmen" after Andy catches him taking a nap in the
courthouse
3. Lee Drake (that grim lawyer) in "Andy's Trip to Raleigh" while she's in her
swimsuit by the pool
4. Howard in "Howard's New Life" while swimming at the beach
5. The "native boy" that Howard encounters on the beach in the same episode

Can anyone come up with any other people whom we see barefoot on the show?

I watched them both, Joe, and enjoyed them very much. Thank you for passing
the link along to us! Wouldn't it be great to have the privilege of sitting
down and chatting with Jim one on one? He does seem to be the proverbial "nice

I FOUND ED SAWYER!

2009-05-22 Thread bcunnin107
Well, here we go again - another TAGS moment. There is an engineer who works in
this County and his name is (Drum Roll..):

Ed Sawyer!!???

I guess the gas station business didn't work out. This is the second person
with a TAGS name I have talked to in a couple of weeks. The last one was the
nurse named Peggy McMillan who was in the jury pool.

I think I'll ask old Ed if he ever went to the moon. Or what happened to Lucy
Matthews..

2009-05-22 Thread Good, Don
I liked the line "You're not talking to a jerk, you know" so much, I
asked for it as the title of my local chapter. I've got the official
charter from Jim and ever-thing. "Dogs, Dogs, Dogs" is my very favorite
episodeunless I happen to be watching some other episode.

Good thing Aunt Bee wasn't in the court house with her umbrella when Rafe
Hollister said "hell". Boy, she would have given him what for.

Andy Griffith Rebuilds Church Ties with Church

2009-05-22 Thread Sue Doughty
The link below is to a local news story about Andy and Cindy Griffith's
"affirmation of faith" that they made to the Grace Moravian Church in
Mt. Airy, NC, where he went to church beginning in 1942.

http://www.wxii12.com/news/19525058/detail.html

It concerns me because Andy was not able to make the trip to the church
because of "age and health issues". It also spoke of "Membership in
Grace Moravian Church could lead to Griffith's future interment in God's
Acre, the church cemetery bordering North Main Street where graves are
marked with simple flat stones in keeping with Moravian tradition."

I hope our Andy is ok!
