"What about the cotton pickin' rocks?"

2009-07-26 Thread David Bailey
I'm trying to find out what episode Barney says "What about the cotton pickin'
rocks?" My kids have been saying it, but I can't remember which episode we were
watching when we heard it.

"The Thrill of It All"

2009-07-26 Thread Dixonhayes
I recently picked up a classic comedy from Netflix, the 1963 advertising
farce "The Thrill of It All" co-starring Doris Day and James Garner. It was
fun seeing a lot of Mayberry alumni throughout the film. Edward Andrews,
who played Hubert St. John the lecturer, is actually one of the main stars
of the film. One scene in which work trucks haul away soap suds from a
back yard (long story), two bystanders are played by Dorothy Neumann (Mrs.
Otis Campbell) and Hallene Hill (the old lady who tried to sell Barney a car
during the epilog of "Barney's First Car). Burt Mustin (Jud Fletcher) plays
a butler, Herbie Faye (who appears in several episodes in various roles)
pops up in a traffic jam (he's in a car with future "Bewitched" regular Alice
Pearce)...and near the end of the film, when James Garner is at the
hospital, dressed in his scrubs, look closely at the doctor who's assisting
him.
He's better known to us for fixing other kinds of things: he's Paul
Hartman, a/k/a Emmett Clark.

Post Office to Eliminate Stamp Machines

2009-07-26 Thread Good, Don
"Post Office to Eliminate Stamp Machines" story at

It looks like the federal government has come around to Barney's way of
thinking. Just another example of how the folks in Mayberry were way ahead of
their time.

Secrets in Mayberry

2009-07-26 Thread hyperauntjan1

So, when Elizabeth Crowley from right there in the nation's capitol was
deliberately speeding so that Andy would stop her again and she would have to
chance to pay for her first speeding ticket, how did Andy handle the money? She
paid for the second one in advance of being convicted and also the first. That
would have given her two speeding tickets on her driving record if Andy did the
paperwork. If he didn't then how did he account for the money? Maybe he and
Barn had a slush fund, but of course Barn did not believe in falsifying, so
wonder what happened?

I know! I bet they donated to the town to use to help pay for the town picnic -
or the Founders' Day Celebration.

Return to Mayberry on the

2009-07-26 Thread Mary & Chester Huckaby
Bart, per your answer below, I have the complete series on DVD. Where is
"Return" located on the series? I have not been able to find it. Thanks.
Mary

From: Bart Boatwright

Actually, Return to Mayberry has been released on DVD, but there is a
catch. You can only get it if you buy The Andy Griffith Show complete
series on DVD. "Return" is included as one of the extras.
