Greendale
I happened to watch the show Community today for the first time. Found it interesting it is set at the Community College in the city of Greendale. But I haven't seen Mayor Purdy or Councilman Hobbs on the show yet. Wonder if their Sheriff's job is still open? dan ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
My Mistake
In my post about Greendale, I referred to Councilman Hobbs. Everybody knows Dabbs Greer played Councilman Dobbs, not Hobbs. Sometimes the VCR in my head hits a bad track. dan ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Pink Floyd/Deep Purple
Jim Nabors (in character from an episode of 'Gomer Pyle USMC') can be heard in the background of the Pink Floyd track 'In the Flesh?' from the LP 'The Wall' (1979). On another subject, while Thelma Lou and Otis may have never appeared togetherĀ on an episode of TAGS, Betty Lynn and Hal Smith were both special guests at the 1989 Memphis Film Festival. Re: unisex names
Do you suppose they are always nicknames for Louis and Louise? My mother's name was Mary Louise, and my dad often called her Lou. She didn't have a clock in her stomach, and I don't recall whether she could stand to wear a hat that had been on somebody else's head. Thelma Lou and Otis and trivial trivialities
On another subject, while Thelma Lou and Otis may have never appeared together?on an episode of TAGS, Betty Lynn and Hal Smith were both special guests at the 1989 Memphis Film Festival. Brian I don't know of you caught this, because the question went on several days before the answer was given.. and then accurately refuted, but Helen, Thelma Lou, AND OTIS did all appear of the Episode the Arrest of the Fun Girls episode #155. This has been verified by the machines down at the bank..and they're god machines. Now I gotta think about Mike, the Scamp's question...that newspaper??. I may have to call in the Boys at the lab. Hey Allen, on that Buzz Fluehart quote, didn't Barney also say they laughed at Alexander Graham Bell right over the telephone? Re: trivia
Mike, Thanks for listening to us on the radio Thursday night in Knoxville. We had a fun time talking about Mayberry. Can you believe that one caller thought Sharon Despain was Thelma Lou made up? I dispelled that rumor real quick. ;-) As to your trivia questions, they are good ones. The house address is 2330 and the newspaper Barney was reading was the Press Herald. I asked Mr. Schwamp to verify these were correct, and he nodded, so there's your official verification. Schwamp I?listened to the interview on the radio with the Mayberry gang. I understand it was the decision of ?Dennis not to allow the ham Mr Schwump to be on the air. He would have just hogged the whole show. And he just isn't worth the pain. Great interview, THANKS to all who took part. Today's trivia: In the bully episode where Opie's milk money was taken, Barney was watching from a hole in a newspaper. What was the name of the paper? and what was the address of the house where he was sitting?
