Ken,
The person that would need to go to the hospital would probably
go in an ambulance with the sigh-reen going full blast, and the
ambulance driver with a big, fat, cee-gar in his mouth.

What's Your Hurry?

2010-02-03 Thread Ken Anderson
I presented my Mayberry "What's Your Hurry?" Power Point at our city Sunrise
Exchange Club this morning. Would you believe there was an Otis in the
group and also a Floyd who was an actual barber? And the Otis who attended
resembled our Otis Campbell so we all had a good chuckle over that. The
group included doctors, pastors, and quite a few retired businessmen and it
was so great to talk with them after the program and hear about their love
of Mayberry and how so many of them still watch it on a regular basis. I
was told that my presentation was one of the most interesting ones they have
had. I began by telling them I was a motivational speaker and I was there
to motivate them to slow down and ask them selves that important question
"What's Your Hurry?"

color/black and white

2010-02-03 Thread (Ted) Theodoric of York
I, also saw an episode many years ago that was shown in black and white and
color.. It was the episode where Barney comes back for the reunion. It was
all black and white until the very end.

SCTV's Loving Admiration for Howard McNear

2010-02-03 Thread Hughes, Clyde L. (HSC)
Just watching the "SCTV" season one DVD recently, which features Eugene Levy
lovingly doing his amazing impression of Floyd the Barber, makes me see how
far-reaching TAGS's influence is. The combination of Merv Griffin and Andy
Griffith into the "Merv Griffith Show" still makes me laugh, as that's
something I've done (the last name mixup) and have heard others do, countless
times.

Opie's Drug Job

2010-02-03 Thread Hughes, Clyde L. (HSC)
A while back, I posted my observations about the ending (epilogue) of "Opie's
Drug(Store) Job" (well, without the "Store" part, it sounds like Ope's mixed up
with the mafia! lol).
Anyway, Andy's expression, and the mystery of what's crossing his mind seems to
be more than just saying "that's weird, Goob," and I think he's reminded quite
a bit of Barn...almost wondering if Goob is in fact Barn. Well, that gets into
sci-fi and body snatching...but really, it's a real Fife connection! :-)

Who was Mr. Doakes in this episode?

He was the owner of the market where Opie and Billy Crenshaw were vying for a
job.

Daphne and Skippy, Ex-cons

2010-02-03 Thread Harry Brewbaker
Ken, don't go beating yourself up about referring to the Fun Girls as ex-cons.
We may have a technicality here. Andy and Barney did lock them up one evening
to keep Helen and Thelma Lou from seeing them. We know they soon set them free
so they could be considered ex-cons.
