birthday
Happy birthday to our own Miss Ellie Walker. Elinor Donahue, April 19, 1937. I was watching the episode #23 Andy and Opie, Housekeepers. This is where Aunt Bee leaves for a few days and the house is a mess. This part is at the end. When Aunt Bee and Andy are sitting on the couch, there is a bottle of some kind on the end-table next to Andy. What kind of bottle is that? Welcome new members. FYI....Maps
One of the maps used for a period of time behind Andy's desk was simply a state map of Nevada turned upside down. In several early episodes the map behind Andy's desk was a state highway map of Idaho turned upside down. Dewey in NC _ The New Busy think 9 to 5 is a cute idea. Re: G-Men
James Cagney starred in "G-Men" in 1935. However, Glenn Ford did play an FBI agent in "Experiment in Terror" in 1962, the same year "The Bank Job" episode was aired. So, maybe that was on the writer's mind when the episode was written. There is a "G-Men" discussion in this old message: http://www.mail-archive.com/wbmutbb@wbmutbb.com/msg05702.html Terrell McEntyre Burt and Squirt Chapter of TAGSRWC "You beat everything, you know that?!" - Original Message - From: Hughes, Clyde L. Did anyone catch on the national news tonight that George Washington owes 200 years plus of late charges on two library books he checked out? They estimated the fees would amount to more than $300,000. Does anyone else see the moulage in this situation that I do? And it is a situationthat's what we've gota situation. Been viewing DVDs of Family Affair and the first season has our Emmett appearing as a British horse and carriage operator; even with the "foreign" accent, I recognized his voice before seeing him! Honors for Larry McPeak
Information from the desk of the County Clerk: Our friend Larry McPeak who played with the VW Boys up until he had to come off the road due to needing a kidney transplant just informed me the following information: If you have been to Mayberry Days and met Larry he is a wonderful musician, singer and song writer. His family band "The MCPeak Brothers" will be inducted to the Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame on Saturday Sept 18th. Larry still needs our prayers Congrats Larry Jeff "Howard" Branch ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

reversed scenes
There are many examples of "reversed shots" in TAGS. Some were probably accidental, and some were done on purpose. For example, when Andy takes Karen crow-shooting, he takes a shot at a bird that's flying overhead and misses. Then a moment later he fires at another one flying in the other direction and misses that one as well. If you look closely, you'll see that it's the very same footage, they just flipped it over so it would look like 2 different birds. That was obviously much easier (and cheaper) than having the camera crew wait around all day hoping that a bird would happen to fly by in the direction they wanted. Another example is in Divorce, Mountain Style. When Andy pretends to have something wrong with his shoe, they stop for a minute, and Barney rides by on the horse. The shot of Barney is reversed, but it was probably done deliberately. I expect they shot all the scenes with the Darling family on one day, and shot all the scenes of Barney on the horse on a different day. Then later in the editing room, they had to reverse some of the "horse" scenes so they would match with the direction the other characters heads were facing when he rode past them. Another reversed scene occurs when Andy talks with "Tex" in Runaway Kid (in the living room, near the end of the episode). Some of the shots of Tex are backwards, but again this may have been done on purpose. Perhaps they shot the boy's scenes first, then when it came time to shoot Andy's scenes the director decided he wanted Andy to be sitting on the other side of the room, so they had to flip some shots over so the boy would be facing the right direction. Then again, it may have just been accidental. Paul >>>Hey, Mayberry friends. This is for the Mayberry "techies." There are at >>>least two episodes which have scenes that are reversed or mirror >>>imagesThere may be more, but how and why did this happen? I'm thinking >>>maybe poor editing, but there was very little poor work in TAGS production. >>>I'm sure someone has an idea, so help me out.<<< ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
if he only had Opie's Pa
If only he had Opie's Pa Recently I watched as the world's most famous golfer was being interviewed after finishing in the top four in one of the most prestigious Golf Tournaments in the world, the Masters. Without saying too much, this individual had been off the tour for about five months due to some personal issues of his own doing. I thought that coming in cold like that, he would be pleased just to finish as well as he did. But do you know what he said.? It sounded very similar to Opie's little fit about not winning a medal. He said I entered the tournament to win, and since I didn't do that, I am not happy. I was disappointed with the response, because I had really been a fan of this golfer, but something rubbed me the wrong way about that answer. Then, it occurred to me that it sounded an awful lot like the ranting of a little boy who did not win the 50-year dash medal. Hopefully since this golfer's paw is not around anymore, someone will provide him some Andy Taylor like counseling. Hopefully he has someone like Andy that he looks up to, that he will want to make proud. Last night I had a TAGs moment while watching the N.Y. Mets-St. Louis Cardinal baseball game. Dillard boys speaking
I wanted to ask again to see if anyone else thought that one or more of the Dillard boys told aunt Bee "Night" when she was taking up the plates in the cell after they ate. At the begining of the scene one says "Bout to pop" and then on the left side of the screen, you can see the one closest to us mouth the word "Night". I have watched it several more times and I am convinced myself that I can make out one of the boys also telling aunt Bee "Night". So, that would make two times I can find that they did speak. I am hoping some of the trained noticers and untrained noticers have an opinion on this also. Thanks. Steve ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Mayberry Days
We are thinking about going to Mayberry Days this year. We were there in '04 when Andy Griffith spoke. It was so much fun and I would like to go back. Can anyone tell me about Karen Knott's show? I was wondering about getting tickets. What is it like? And, is the trivia contest always on Friday? I loved that. Last time we were there, Betty Lynn, James Best, George Spence, Maggie (Charlene) and the Dilliards all came in to eat at the same place we were eating. What a thrill that was! "Hi, Gloria."
