Mayberry Nights
Hey, Mayberry friends. We're preparing to go to Mayberry Nights in Troy, NC, tonight. You'all know that Jeff Branch (aka Howard Sprague) is the organizer and also a deputy in the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. I'll have to be on my best behavior, I'll try to look like a deputy and act like a deputy. It's gonna be fun. Larry in Lincolnton I will be alert at all times Barney Fife ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
MAYBERRY TRIBUTE
I was watching the video posted on this site about the people doing the Mayberry tribute today. One part of the tribute bothered me. I have no problem with people impersonating our friends that have passed on, Otis, Barney, Howard, but it made me uneasy to see someone impersonating Goober when Goober is very much alive, and as far as I know is trying to make a living by acting. I am not smart enough to know if that is legal, but it just does not seem right to steal a man's character while he is still using it. Orville Hendricks - The Butter and Egg Man. As far as I know, no one has tried to steal my character. You know, the chicken coop casanova thing. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Small Towns
Hi Mayberry Friends, My daughter and I are so ready to leave the hectic Bay Area and are looking for a small town to relocate. Do any of you kind folks have any suggestions of a small town where we might look? I have been ill, so I need a hospital/medical facility somewhat nearby. Thank you so much :-) Silvia, AKA Josephine Pike ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Mitch Jayne novels made into films?
Actually, one already had been made. Mitch Jayne's novel Old Fish Hawk was made into the movie Fish Hawk in 1979. It starred Will Sampson, a Native American actor who appeared in several movies, notably One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Outlaw Josey Wales and From Here to Eternity. Mitch was not completely happy with the film, probably because it was shot in Canada, which makes no sense. He (and I agree with him) felt it should have been filmed right here in The Ozarks, where the novel was set. But, according to Mitch, the fee he received allowed him to retire, which kind of made up for the film's shortcomings. Many of you probably already knew all of that, but I'll bet NOBODY knows this next part. In 1996, Denver Pyle told me he had secured the rights to the book and was planning to produce a new version of the film, starring Willie Nelson! I can't quite picture Willie Nelson as Fish Hawk, but I expect he would have been a box office draw. Willie certainly didn't make a very good Uncle Jesse, in my opinion -- but I digress. I don't know who holds the rights to the novel now, since Mitch and Denver are both gone. --Paul Mulik Does anyone know if any of Mitch Jayne's books are slated to become movies? ...Aunt Bee of Orlando ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Troy
Sixteen members from our chapter went to Mayberry Nights in Troy Saturday night.Maggie,Rodney and the tribute artists put on a doggone good show.As usual,Jeff Branch provided everyone with a lot of bang for their buck. There was a constant eruption of laughter throughout the entire show. For the ones that bid and won a silent auction item,I am sure Jeff is most appreciative. Our chapter is already chomping at the bits looking forward to next year's event. A tip of the hat should go to Tammy Sullivan and her friends for their tireless endeavors in putting together the first annual silent auction. Also,a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated items. It was akin to The Mayberry Founders Day Parade. As 'ol Barn would say,it was a gas! Dewey in NC ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
