OK, so I'm thinking that Barney could have used the pajamas match the
wallpaper trick when he was undercover as a department store dummy, trying
to catch the shoplifter at Weaver's Department Store!

2011-04-29 Thread Victor Friskey
well it's good to be back and read all the things I've missed. I remember the
last time I read a WBMUTBB post was on March 10. I remember because that
afternoon I had a severe stroke and ended up in the hospital. I'm better now
although I have some paralysis in my left hand and not able to hold bigger than
a pencil. But I'm far from admitting to handicap status so life goes on. I came
back and found over 1200 e-mails and all the WBMUTBB posts for the past month
and a half. Got a lot of reading and scrapping to do. Anyway while convelescing
My wife bought me the 50th anniversary DVD. I got to tell you I teared up
watching Return To Mayberry. That is one awesome movie..I had kind of
forgotten the plot although I remembered it had something to do with a
monster...I've also continued to watch and re-watch all the episodes..I noticed
something in 'A Wife For Andy. That's where Barney tries to set up Andy with
every girl in town. When the girls come
through the door at Andy's they come from the left..The porch steps are on the
right..for them to enter they would have to step across the porch in front of
the door but they don't..And when Andy looks out to see if any more girls are
coming he looks to the left not back toward the steps...Wonder if anyone else
noticed this...
Didn't mean to carry on so, but its good to be back. Thanks Alan for posting
all these conversations I really do appreciate it

Hello

2011-04-29 Thread Bentle, Margaret
Silent moments on TAGS.
This is when Clara has just left the kitchen out the back door (The
Pickle Story) and Aunt Bee does the waving of the hands and making a
face.
Doing a pinch more of cloves and allspice (I think).
In Bringing up Opie, when Opie crawls into the bed of the truck and
goes to sleep. My stomach starts hurting each time, all them apples.
In Ellie Saves a Female, when Andy takes Frankie Flint and puts her on
the top rung of the fence and next door boys come over to talk with her.

This is to Mike Peacock and Bob Bravetti. I'm not sure what happened to
make you want to leave the digest. I've had my feelings hurt by a
former member
of the digest. I finally had to let the hurt feelings go, Why, because
my stomach was in knots all the time, every time I opened my e-mails or
digest.
I'm now back to reading and posting on the digest, not often in the
posting area. The former member sent hurtful and hateful e-mails to me
personally and not to the
digest. Which I am very grateful. The reason I am grateful was because
of the language in the e-mails. I just started deleting the e-mails
when the were sent.

re Dixon/re Don Knotts

2011-04-29 Thread ROBERT PHILLIPS

Some people in the younger groups Don't know The Andy Griffith Show and/or
Barney Fife but do know Three's company and Mr. Furley so I can understand
those groups thinking that Don Knotts is best known as Mr Furley but those are
minority groups
because Tags is still very popular throughout and even the youngest of children
is some groups absolutely know who Barney Fife is. This reply comes from first
hand knowing as I am Don's look a-like and I impersonate him to some extent.
Don is an every day conversation in my life.Don Knotts is best known for
his role as Barney Fife.

sitting there with the bucket on his head! That really makes me laugh out

Don/Barney/Ralph

2011-04-29 Thread Lisa Jackson

I have been reading the whole Don Knotts thread and how he is better known (to
some) as Ralph Furley and better known (at least to all of us on the digest) to
others as Barney Fife. One of the classes in my school has had a learn about
your state unit lately, and of course, Don Knotts was a West Virginian! So
this particular class did posters about our state and one of the students had
on his/her poster several famous ppl. from WV. One of the famous people listed
was Don Knotts, which I was surprised and pleased to see on the poster. But in
light of the recent discussion here on the digest, I was really surprised and
pleased to see what followed his name on the poster. It said something like,
Best known as Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show! That was so awesome to
see, especially with our recent topic here, and it made me happy to see that
someone in the world agrees that Mr. Knotts is best known as our dearly loved
deputy sheriff Barney Fife!! : ) (It was especially great to see it since the
class that did these posters are only 5-6 years old!)

Y'all have a Mayberry Day!

2011-04-29 Thread DAVID QUINN

Don, your comment reminds me of something. I cannot believe how much stronger
I have gotten in the last 50 years. When I was a small boy, myself and my
sister would go grocery shopping with my mother. Mother would buy the large
majority of the groceries that we would be needing for the coming month all at
one time, since my father was only paid once a month. Hard as it is to believe
now, about $40 worth of groceries would feed our family of four for the entire
month.
But getting back to my feat of strength. 50 years ago, it took myself, my
sister, and my mother to carry those $40 worth of groceries. Now a days I can
carry $40 worth of groceries with only one hand. Must be all the working out I
do.

I couldn't do a few years ago is put $40 worth of gas in my car.

Bittersweet Moments

2011-04-29 Thread Ken Anderson
I had a rather bittersweet Mayberry evening last night. I presented my What's
Your Hurry? Mayberry presentation at a library in a very small town of 1000
which is just 20 miles from my small town. We had a very good turnout with a
number of my family and former high school friends showing up. Two of my very
close and dear childhood buddies both came and I hadn't seen either in over 45
years. So that was a wonderful surprise and we had a great time talking about
our growing up years together. However, during our conversations I learned
that both are alone after going trough divorces and both are totally estranged
from their younger brothers. That was so sad for me to hear as both came from
traditional close knit families and I knew their brothers so well too. So hard
to see that life has dealt them both some rather difficult challenges. I keep
thinking back to how simple and innocent our lives were back them only to
realize that as we grow up and change our lives often change in ways that we
would rather avoid. But in any event it was great to see both these guys as
well as others from my high school days.

Tonight I am doing another presentation at a Holiday Inn in town here and it
will be for a church group. So I am looking forward to another fun evening
sharing my love for Mayberry. Last night was the first time I changed into my
Checkpoint Chickie outfit during the presentation and it was a big hit.
