Opie's shirt

2011-10-17 Thread dewey lamb

I have noticed that in most of the color episodes,it seems that Opie wears the
same multi hued shirt.
Do you think it was his favorite shirt,or a result of studio budget
cuts?Curious.

A lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by Barney. He thinks that he is
smarter than the deputy
because he is a lawyer from New York and is certain that he has a better
education than a hick cop
from North Carolina.

He decides to have some fun at Barney's expense.Barney says "License and
registration,please".
"What for?" says the lawyer.Barney says,"You didn't come to a complete stop at
the stop sign".
Then the lawyer says,"I slowed down and no one was coming"."You still didn't
come to a complete
stop,says Barney.License and registration,please".The lawyer says,"What's the
difference"?

"The difference is you have to come to a complete stop, that's the law.License
and registration,
please"!

Lawyer says,"If you can show me the difference between slow down and stop,I'll
give you my
license and registration;and you give me the ticketif not,you let me go and
don't give me the
ticket".

"That sounds fair. Please exit your vehicle, sir" Barney says.

At this point,Barney takes out his nightstick and starts putting lumps on the
lawyer and says
"Do you want me to stop,or just slow down"?

Moral of story:Don't under estimate small town Southern analogy.

Squad car, badge, pistol

2011-10-17 Thread Sande Roggs
That had to beeb a sad day to have to put the car in storage. But, think of
that great spring day when you go get it.
As for the badge having 6 points and the inside star 5, it doesn't make it any
less special. One of the last presents i got for daddy was a sheiff's badge.
He just loved it. It reminded him of all the shows we had fun watching.
And then the pistol, in Opie the Birdman, i saw it too, s did we decide
really there or a toy?

Mayberry Is Everywhere

2011-10-17 Thread Chuck Talley
For those who have been to Mt Airy, you may remember that the Emporium
is a three story building on Main Street that has multiple booths of
good quality arts and crafts items, clothing and a host of other
merchandise and it still houses a makeshift Mayberry Jail for
photographs. On the third floor of the Emporium are two mechanized
statues of an "old" man and an "old" woman that are very real looking
and they used to vibrate when you would stand in front of them. Today on
American Pickers, Mike and Frank were in Wisconsin farmland on a "pick",
and I noticed in the background of a building the same statue of the man
that is in the Emporium. I watched the rest of the show just to see if
they were interested in the statue but they weren't. Seeing that statue
reminded me of seeing "him" in Mt Airy during my many trips to Mayberry
Days and that Mayberry is Everywhere :-) - The Gollywobbler

Missing the Digest

2011-10-17 Thread Ken Anderson
As a Charter subscriber I have not been able to receive the Digest for several
weeks now. Talk about a void in one's life. I do, however, go to the archives
and I try to read that every few days so I am able to keep up with the Mayberry
chatter out there. We put the squad car in storage this weekend and it will be
away from home until April 15. It will be the first time ever that I really
looked forward to tax day coming. I have a Mayberry presentation to do this
Thursday for our Kiwanis noon luncheon at the Eau Claire Country Club. This
will be my 35th presentation since I started giving them. I have eight more
scheduled so I am thrilled to be able to keep the spirit of Mayberry alive here
in the beautiful city of Eau Claire.
