I think the more likely explanation for that colorful plaid shirt was that the show was then being shot in color. Andy was in uniform in nearly every episode, and Aunt Bee, while always well dressed and perfectly groomed, didn't exactly wear colorful dresses. I expect the costume department therefore concentrated on having Opie dress in brighter colors. Mayberry Days Update
The Surry Arts Council is pleased to announce Dean Webb will be attending Mayberry Days this year. Dean was the mandolin playing Darling Boy. He will be a big part of the Doug Dillard Tribute Concert on Friday, September 28th. The show is being organized this summer to honor Douglas Dillard, who performed at every Mayberry Days. Details and the line up of that show will be finalized later this summer. Me, I just stand right there and use the toothpick and then I put it back n the dispenser. Is it something I'm doing wrong? Also, if I try to log on it takes me to something called Bitley that has nothing to do with Mayberry. Church Choir
On Father's Day at my church,we had an all male choir on this special day.As a member of the choir,a sheepish grin appeared on my face as we were singing.Later,my wife asked me what I was smiling about.All I could see was Barney meandering among the choir members looking for someone off key.And no,we did not sing good old 14A. Just saw Hal Smith appearing on Little House on the Prairre.He was a local sheriff who was also a town drunk.I kept waiting for him to breakout with "I'm Sorry Mother."
