greetings

I'm happy to report that Mt. Airy is listed once again in Southern Living in
the recap of their recent best of the south feature. It is the favorite town
for NC and has a small photo of Barn, Ange and Gomer in their director
chairs at the bottom. It highlights Andy's birthplace as well as Mayberry
Days; I'm always glad to see our "hometown" promoted in any way. Meanwhile,
Merry Christmas to all our Mayberrians!

Merry Christmas

2012-12-22 Thread Trickytimer
I would like to wish all of Mayberry a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy
New Year. I've been pretty busy this past week fixing up some toys some
folks brought in to donate to the All Souls Church for the poor kids in the
county. I think there's like 4 and a half poor kids per square mile in
this county.hehe Anyway, I wanted to do my part from the fixit shop to
help out the less fortunate in Mayberry. I hope you all have a wonderful
holiday week.

Merry Christmas/hunt for Schwump

2012-12-22 Thread Sande Riggs
Hello All
On behalf of my chapter: At The Crossroads, I would like to wish everyone, you
and yours, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
And, to thank Alan for the best wishes.
Here's to a great year for 2013.
We may miss the ones we lost, but don't the trees sound full.

The search for old man Schwump has not ended. Here is my 2012 report: after
speaking to several people this year, and I was listening Dennis, because you
had some great ideas, I spent two weeks online looking at extras photos. I
also watched Christmas in Connecticut twice, I thought a few times I was on to
something. I checked the extras and their statistics and the possibles were
passed before 1961 OR their photos of 1960s did not match. My suspicion right
now is that he could have been from the crew, like props or script or anything,
which might account for now wanting any lines. This little fact made me think
he could have been a retired actor and afraid the voice would give him away.
The other was he might have a relative of cast or crew. We know extras did not
run in the same circles, usually, as the guest stars.
So the hunt for Schwump continues.

Sarah, the operator & Juanita, the waitress

2012-12-22 Thread Gary A. Johnson
In response to Message: 3 (Victor yesterday)
I don't know if this subject has ever been discussed ...but have you ever
wondered what some of these unseen gals of Mayberry might have looked
likeSarah, Phoebe Gilbert, Juanita at the diner, and who was that gal Doug
Wash was accused of flirting with, then there was "The Beast of the 4th floor",
Jeff Pruitt's girl friend Bertha, Vicky Harms, Alice Harper, Laura Lee Hobbs,
...I know there are others but that's a start...ever wonder what they looked
like..might be fun to pick a couple and describe them

Here's Sarah: http://www.garytexas.com/sarah.jpg
and Juanita: http://www.garytexas.com/juanita.jpg

I'm still researching the others' pictures, it might be I need bigger wires.
