Andy and a Basketball

2013-02-26 Thread Ken Anderson
Just watched the episode where Opie was trying to find out what Andy wanted
for his birthday. Andy told him a basketball.
That was what I always wanted too when I was growing up. I had great
aspirations of being a super star in basketball. My mom told me once that
even when I was in diapers I would run around dribbling all over the
kitchen floor. But my stardom never came to fruition.

Goober Beasley

2013-02-26 Thread Larry Grainger

By the way I noticed that Andy introduces Goober as Goober Beasley to the tv
producer for Sheriff without a gun but later on inthe series Goober gets the
name Pyle. Curious, curious. David Oberly

David, several years ago I had a close friend ask George Lindsey about that,
because I had always wondered about it as well. George told her that sometimes
Andy liked to use names of his friends on the show, and evidently he was
friends with a Beasley family. Besides Goober Beasley, there was Juanita
Beasley, Barney's unseen girl at the diner. And one of the suitors Andy sent
the way of Miss Ellie to put her on the scent of other game was Charlie
Beasley.

Maybe there was another reason, but this was Mr. Lindsey's take on it.

Just watched the episode where Opie was trying to find out what Andy
wanted for his birthday. Andy told him a basketball.

I always thought that Andy did that because he knew *Opie* wanted a
basketball. Not because Andy actually wanted one?

I remember my dad doing things like that or asking for something he needed
like socks or something.

Carnival

2013-02-26 Thread dewey lamb

In the episode Opie and the Carnival,Opie,Andy, and Goober all take turns
shooting the
guns with the bent sights, unbeknowest to them.Goober has this quirky little
thing he does
before shooting the gun...he dabs his thumb against his tongue and then rubs
his thumb
against the sight.Anyone know why he would do this?Is this a trait known to a
certain part
of the USA or just something the writers came up with?
