Tribute

2014-02-18 Thread DAVID QUINN
Just noticed at 9 A.M. (EST) that TVLand played the TAGS episode A Date For
Gomer as a tribute to the deceased Mary Grace Canfield.

Mary Grace Canfield - RIP

2014-02-18 Thread Paul W. Pyle
Mary Grace Canfield has died at age 89. She played Gomer's blind date 'Mary
Grace' (Thelma Lou's Cousin) on TAGS, but most known for Ralph on Green
Acres.

Interesting in the death notices online that many comments reference her
appearance on TAGS as memorable, and it was noted that Mary Grace said
Ralph was not challenging enough as an actress and was not what she
desired to be remembered for.

RIP Mary Grace.

Quiet Sam

CHARACTER'S REAL FIRST NAME

2014-02-18 Thread Mike Peacock
Another character that used her real first name was the lady druggist,
Ellie, played by Elinor Donahue. Andy called her by both Elinor and the
nickname Ellie in various episodes.

Citizens Arrest

2014-02-18 Thread davebaugh1
I was watching Citizens arrest on Tvland this morning. In the scene where Otis
comes out of his cell and answers the phone call from Gomer I could swear he
tells Barney who is in the other cell that Floyd's filling station was robbed.
I don't have the DVD so I can't go back and watch it again. Did he say that or
am I hearing it wrong?
Thanks ~Dave~

Actor's Name

2014-02-18 Thread Ken Anderson
I can think of two actors who used their same first names whilst on TAGS.

Jerry Van Dyke played the role of Jerry Miller.

Elinore Donahue played the role of Elinore Walker.

Aunt Bee the wagon

2014-02-18 Thread Janet Anderson
Larry got the fourth one, Aunt Bee operated a coaster wagon loaded with beef
in Bargain Day (I don't know whether or not it was red, though). To the
naysayers who think Opie was the one who operated it, yes he did the pulling
but when they leave the house, Aunt Bee gives it a push.

Well, Paul, I thought of the wagon, but I dismissed it because by mode of
transportation, I thought you meant something to transport people. Besides, I
think the original question was for three modes of transportation that Aunt Bee
operated, right? Guess I'm being nitpicky!

Barney

2014-02-18 Thread Janet Anderson
While we are on the subject of modes of transportation, name two that
Barney operated that did not have motors.

I'm a day behind again, so someone probably already answered this, but Barney
rode a horse and a bike.

Mary Grace

2014-02-18 Thread rehay
RIP Mary Grace. I had the privilege of presenting Mary Grace Canfield with a
corsage when I met her about 15 years ago. She's probably received many of them
since her appearance on TAGS. I'm sure she has entered Heaven properly adorned.

Piano Bench

2014-02-18 Thread Cheryl Langille
Orville Hendricks you brought up that the Taylors had a piano bench one time
and a stool another time. When I read that, I got reminded of the episode with
Aunt Nora and Uncle Ollie. When they are eating dinner, the boys are sitting
on the piano bench at the table. This feels so real because when I was growing
up, if we had more than four people at the table, we dragged out the piano
bench. It would hold two kids or two skinny adults. I love seeing that episode
as it brings back good memories.
