In The Beauty Pageant, Miss Bishop is on one side of the stage and hands a dress to Nice Dress Nellie. Then Miss Bishop scurries over to the other side of the stage where she meets Tom Jacobs coming in with coffee for everyone. Trained Noticing
I'm enjoying the color episodes I haven't seen in quite a while and thanks to the series DVD's, noticed two new items. In the opening shot of The Statue the camera has a close-up of Howard's arm with Andy's gavel in his hand sitting at Andy's desk and if you look closely, there's a thin telephone book between his arm and the telephone. With the sharp DVD resolution, it looks like the writing on the cover says Mount Airy, so it appears that it's possible Andy had a Mt. Airy directory on set. The filming of this episode would be close to the time frame when he returned to Mt. Airy to move his parents to California. In the next episode Helen, the Authoress when it's mentioned she and Andy are going to Richmond, the scene transitions to Richmond and the publisher's office, a color photo of what's supposed to be the skyline of Richmond is shown, however, that is clearly a 1960's color photo of Charleston, SC with its recognizable church steeples and Charleston styled homes. I don't think these have been mentioned before. Robbie Beech Mtn., NC (soon) ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
My mind's closed
Andy tells Barney My mind's closed, my mind's closed! in A Deal Is a Deal, when he refuses to go to Mt. Pilot with Barney to confront the foxy operators who produce Miracle Salve. Of course, Gomer ended up going along, posing as Opie Taylor, Sr., providing us what may be Gomer's funniest scene in the entire series. Speaking of this episode, what do you suppose Barney and Gomer ever did with those 946 jars of salve? Let's hear some theories. DICED CREAM
I have a silly question. Watching the Horse Trader, in Ellie's drug store there is an ice cream sign on the wall behind the counter advertising: DICED CREAM. My question is, what is diced cream? Can anybody reflect on this? Do yourself proud. LES Les Stuckey mlesterstuc...@hotmail.com ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Alumni Sighting
I had an unusual alumni sighting tonight. While watching the World War II movie The Young Lions on TCM, I caught Mayor Stoner playing a Nazi Sergeant. A Nazi Sergeant, what would Andy say? This movie was made 2 years before TAGS began, but I kept saying to myself That's Stoner, S-t-o-n-e-r, Stoner Orville Hendricks - Mount Pilot Butter and Egg Man ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
