I would live in town. It'd be nice to sit and watch what's gong on, and then
gossip with Aunt Be a and Emma.

Ron, I have all the seasons on DVD, and I know that scene where Thelma Lou
brings Barney a malt or shake is on my DVD. Do you have the official releases
from Paramount? If so, you should have it. Yes, the episodes are complete on
the DVDs.

Andy's Rival

>>>Dont you think the writers ( or directors) went a little overboard having

>>>respond to his pointing that out.<<<

Well, it did seem odd to me that they would get that chummy if all were as
innocent as Helen claimed. If it were me, my response would be to sit across
from the man. And if he tried to squeeze in beside me, I would think that
quite forward. Of course, that set up the big confrontation scene between Andy
and Helen later. However, you sure do feel sorry for Andy when they are all in
the diner. As far as Helen, it's apparent that it wasn't all innocent on her
part, or she wouldn't have acted so guilty, both by glossing over the situation
at the diner and then by getting angry and defensive at her house. But, then,
a plot has to have conflict, so the diner scene certainly set that up.

I would love to live in the country (I grew up on a farm), like Jeff and Sam.
However, I could stand living in town if it were Mayberry! Living by the lake
like Emma would be nice, if I didn't have to contend with mosquitoes.

Calculator

2016-02-18 Thread DAVID QUINN

When trying to turn 1960's $ into 2016 $, there is no tried and true formula.
A person can only make a ballpark guess. As an example let's look at
what Luke Bandit wrote in yesterday's digest. Please don't take offense
Luke, I am just doing this for comparison. According to Luke's calculator,
$80 in 1967 would be like $567.71 today. But I just went to the Walmart.com
site, and they show they have nice new 32 inch color televisions for $129.00.
That means for $567.71, you could buy 4 of those and still have money left
over. Anyone think you could buy 4, 32 inch color televisions in 1967 for
$80? A single 25 inch color television in 1967 would be about $500.00.
Different items have risen (or dropped) at different rates over the last 50
years.Any monetary calculator will only give you a good ballpark guess.

Orville Hendricks - Mount Pilot Butter and Egg Man

Someone wanted to know how much the 80 dollars that
Aunt Bee's Canton restaurant would be worth today.

I went to inflation calculator.com and put in the year
that the episode was made, 1967 and 80 dollars.

That would have the buying power in 2015,
a whopping $567.71 !!

Hello Emmett...Coincidentally, we just saw this episode on our DVD set season 5
(but the correct title is Barney' s Physical). And hubby mentioned he did not
recall the scene where Thelma Lou brings Barney the milk shake, it has been
awhile since we have watched that season, but it's there, don't recall ever
seeing it on syndication.Pam

Where to live?

2016-02-18 Thread CTMIDWAY58
Well, now...I lived in a small town like Mayberry, I lived in the country
with 6 rooms and a path, I live in Raleigh, but I tell ya now...down in the
woods is the best place to stay...no sirns, no howlin' hounds, no
folks a'shootin' at one a'tother, just quiet except fer Harriet the chicken
thief a'hidin' down there somewheres!! Keep hearin' them chickens but can't
find 'em. Whenever I go where I hear them, they done moved again! I have a
feelin' she maybe hid out with Ernest T in a cave!

Long term performers

2016-02-18 Thread Marguerite Marshall
I'd guess the longest career to be Ron Howard. Certainly the most successful
tho the majority of it is as a director, not an actor.

Otherwise I'd guess the Albertson siblings. Jack who played Aunt Bee and Andy's
cousin, and his sister Mable who was Howard Sprague's mama
