Jubal
On Sunday, my teenage daughter invited a couple of girlfriends over for lunch. During lunch, one of the girls was mentioning a boy she broke up with. The boy's name was Jubal. Of course, I immediately started saying, "Jubal, Jubal, Jubal," like Barney in "Keeper of the Flame" and then started laughing. I explained that the name Jubal made me think of an episode of "The Andy Griffith Show." My daughter said, "Mom, they won't know what you're talking about." The one girl said, "Oh, yes, I know what she's talking about!" and the other girl chimed in, "Me, too!" Well, that just warmed my heart to know that today's youngsters still know about and watch the greatest show on TV. Really gave me hope for the future. Howard Morris
Mr. Morris was not in the U.S. Marines instead he was in the Army. During World War II he was assigned to a United States Army Special Services unit where he was the First Sergeant. Maurice Evans was the company commander and Carl Reiner and Werner Klemperer were soldiers in the unit. Based in Honolulu, the unit entertained American troops throughout the Pacific. Otis Arrest
I caught an apparent contradiction concerning Otis being arrested. On 'The Rehabilitation of Otis" he indignantly protested to Barney that he had never been arrested while Barney was slapping on handcuffs. On a few episodes later, "The Punch in the Nose" Andy finds a file in the courthouse that states "Sept 23, 1941 2 p.m. Otis Campbell booked for intoxication at the Mayberry Garden Flower Show". convenient memory, right, Otis?? ha ha Eric Swolgaard Sacramento, CA ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/

If memory serves correctly, Al Cheeco (2 episodes) served in the US Army. He and Don Knotts performed shows together. p.s. Love James Spann! "Nip that tornado in the bud - respect the polygons!" Curt Birmingham, AL ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/

Mayberry Weatherman
I got to thankin, and was wonderin' what might be the qualities for a good weatherman in Mayberry? I'm a fan of James Spann, and I wonder if some of his qualities might've fit right in? Now, Barney might've become a storm chaser, with his side car, or maybe even with a radar on top of the squad car. Of course, he would wear his gauntlets and goggles, as well, being careful not to ride into the wind with his mouth open. :-) Over and Under, Clyde "Barn" ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/
