Allan Thank You

2017-10-19 Thread Brian Kaufman
Allan,

Thank you so much for managing the WBMUTBB Digest. It is a joy to read and
provide occasional submissions. Hopefully in the not-to-distant future I
can meet you at Mayberry Days. I suggested to my wife that we could
celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in 2018 at Mayberry Days...I'm still
waiting on her reply and I mentioned it last week. ☺ She's not near the
TAGS fan that I am.

A TAGS Smile: I recently watched the episode where Barney refers to the
Mayberry jail as "The Rock". Watching Gomer's expression while Barney is
instructing the inmates about the rules at The Rock is hilarious and ALWAYS
makes me laugh and smile...like most anything that Barney says, or does.
It's also a joy to watch Andy capture the inmates and then credit Barney
for coming up with the idea of dropping the light bulbs off the courthouse
roof to simulate the sound of machine guns. Barney goes from feeling VERY
BAD about himself, to "cloud nine" after Andy gives him the credit for the
capture.

I hope all is well with my fellow WBMUTBB subscribers. Congrats to Ken and
his wife on another successful parade season. I can't even imagine keeping
that kind of schedule after my retirement, but when you're doing something
you absolutely love, I guess that makes it much easier. Thanks for
spreading good news and good cheer to everyone you meet, Ken.

Barney's Rules to Survive Time at The Rock
1. Obey all rules!
2. Do Not Write on Walls, as it is hard to removing writing...off of walls!

Meandering with the Mayberry Guru

2017-10-19 Thread Ed Mease
As Ken has requested, here’s my “simple thank you to Allan for all his hard
work” ... but, I can’t think of one thing about Mayberry or TAGS that makes me
smile (a thousand things, yes, but not just one!).

As a side note: I recently got personalized (OK, “vanity”) plates for my truck.
It reads simply TAGS. I’m so saddened when someone asks me why I would put
TAGS on my tags. Whatever is this world coming to?

10=4 Ken, And thank you Alan for keeping the Mayberry spirit alive and kicking.
Ken, you were saying how fast times are changing, and for the most part, I
would say not for the better. Yes there have been some wonderful things come
along that has improved the quality of life, and medical breakthroughs that
have greatly extended life. Sadly though, with all the free time these
inventions have brought to us, we seem not to know how to use it very well. I
go to the local Diner here and am amazed at all the folks I see either talking
on cell phones, or texting someone, and barely making eye contact with the
folks at their table. I remember the episode where Andy gets annoyed at Opie
because he has to ask him twice a question because Opie is listening to his
transistor radio. Can you imagine if Andy was here today with Opie texting
someone? I guess we could all listen to the Sermon for Today and slow down,
take it easy, what indeed is you hurry?

Hello from Indiana

2017-10-19 Thread fgor...@tds.net
Dear hearts & gentle people,

I haven't posted for many-a-moon. Some time ago, I attempted to post several
times, but for some reason, my posts wouldn't go through. I'm trying again
today, in hopes that whatever the problem was, it has now been cleared up.

Frank & I have enjoyed many years of Mayberry fun & fellowship. Not quite sure
what it is that sets us Mayberrians apart from so many others, but whatever it
is brings a daily bit of joy into our house. We've been to Mayberry Days
several times, but not for a few years. The distant drive seems to hinder us
from attending these days, but we do, so much, enjoy reading the posts from
those of you who do attend.
We always enjoy meeting with some of the fans once a month at the Mayberry Cafe
in Danville Indiana. For those of you who can make it to those get-to-gathers,
it's a fun time. Most of us are a bit "crazy" but we haven't been thrown out of
there yet! :)

Ya'll have a Mayberry Day!

Good post. There are so many different angles to the TAGS story: the
great talent of the actors, directors, writers, producers and staff,
the historical curiosity of the backlot, the story so convincingly set
in rural North Carolina yet filmed in metro Los Angeles. Best of all,
it is just wonderful storytelling and a timeless treasure as good as
Shakespeare in its own way.
A true blessing.

2017-10-19 Thread Jeff Koontz
Allan,
Thank you for all your hard work keeping the Mayberry Spirit alive with
WBMUTBB, many Mayberry websites, Floyd, supporting Weaver's, Mayberry Meet Up
and all the behind the scenes things you do.
And thank you to Ken for reminding us of the good work that Allan does (and
don't underestimate your contribution in WI - just breathe in the old oxygen).
You are so busy in retirement with your squad car that I wonder where you found
time to work!?
