TAGS and Scotland Yard

2010-12-20 Thread Jim Hady
Even though I live in Northeast Tennessee, along about sunset, I can pick up
WSM (home ofthe Grand Ole Opry) out of Nashville. I turned it on just before 6
my time to catch the 5 PM Nashville News. Anyhow, they had a world news story
on about some suspected terrorist bombers in United Kingdomanyhow
the Scotland Yard investigator said...

We had to Nip it in the Bud. And the DJ (I'm not sure who it was when he
came back on said Just like Barney Fife - Nip It, Nip it in the bud.

Re: Andy's Statue

2010-02-23 Thread Jim Hady
I was just reading the digest about Andy's statue being vandalized when Fox
News had a story about it. They said green paint was poured on his head and
red paint to his badge and chest. Apparently they are still looking for the
perpetrators.

Re: The Dillards

2009-10-04 Thread Jim Hady
Sure wish I could have gone to the Ryman Thursday night for The Dillards
induction to the Bluegrass Hall of Fame. I've been watching The Dillards in
person since about 1970. Last time we were able to see any of the Dillards
(which at the time, Rodney and Doug were the only original members performing)
was several years ago at Oakboro Music Hall near Charlotte. Congratulations to
The Dillards on their induction. We'd love to see Rodney and his family at one
of their Gospel Programs.

2008-02-18 Thread Jim Hady
I haven't been able to keep up with my email recently so I don't know
if these links have been posted. The first link I received from
David Browning, The Mayberry Deputy and the 2nd link is for Rodney
and Beverly Dillards site which has been updated in the past few
months since the last time that I looked at it--in particular, their
store has new items such as ballcaps, T-shirt, Audiolithograph (A
Night In The Ozarks in DVD format), Tote Bag, and CD's and a songbook
of tunes written by The Dillards.

DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NO FINANCIAL INTEREST IN EITHER SITE.

Re: Flop Eared Mule Vs Whoa Mule

2007-08-10 Thread Jim Hady
Flop Eared Mule and Whoa Mule are two different songs. Whoa Mule and
Buckin' Mule are the same song though. The Dillards recorded Buckin'
Mule...I think it was on the Live.Almost album. If it wasn't
that album, it was on Back Porch Bluegrass

TAGS Alumni

2006-10-22 Thread Jim Hady
I turned on a movie last night (Saturday) that was about 45 minutes
or so into the movie. Don't recall the name of it, but it was about
an Army Lieutenant who was being tried to killing a man who allegedly
raped the LT's wife.

Anyhow, one of the witnesses during the trial was a Doctor, who I'm
reasonably sure was TAGS own Floyd. He was only onscreen for about
15 to 30 seconds.

Jessica replied:

Hey y'all! About 7 years ago for my 15th birthday, my mom took me
down to Bass Mountain in North Carolina to see the Dillards. I got
to meet them and get their autographs. Well last week my mom called
me from her work. She works at County Records in Floyd, VA which
sells Bluegrass music. She told me that Rodney Dillard was supposed
to drop by that afternoon. The next day she handed me an autographed
piece of paper. Rodney and his wife had dropped by and
talked to my mom, she said they were so kind! I have the piece of
paper taped up on my desk. The background of my computer is a
picture of Leon and his sandwich. Have a great day! Jessica V.
Brevard

Jessica, that's really kewl. and it DOES sound like something that
Rodney and his wife Beverly Cotton Dillard would do.

The Dillards at Oakboro Music Hall

2006-07-16 Thread Jim Hady
I'm just wondering who is going to see The Dillards (The Darling
Boys) and Maggie Peterson Mancuso next Saturday at the Oakboro Music
Hall near Charlotte, NC. We've got tickets to the afternoon show.

http://www.oakboromusichall.com

I know Mitch doesn't tour anymoresometimes Dean does. Maybe Jeff
could enlighten us as to who all is going to be performing in the
band besides Rodney and Doug. Is Beverly Cotton Dillard going to be
performing as she did 2 years ago?

Apologies in advance if Jeff has already answered these questions,
but I haven't done very well about keeping up with my email the past
couple of months.

Nipping It

2006-05-22 Thread Jim Hady
Had a couple interesting experiences with the phrase Nipping it in
the bud this past week.

First, I'm taking a life guard class at the local YMCA. One of the
instructors said something several times over different classes about
nipping it in the bud so I asked him if he was a TAGS fan and he
said yes.

Then last night, my daughter turned on a movie on the Disney Channel
that featured Kirstie Allie as the Tooth Fairy. I don't recall the
name of the movie, but at about 1 hour and 15 or 20 minutes into it,
the school principle made the comment about I'm just going to go nip
it in the bud.
