Mayberry Sighting on Alfred Hitchcock Presents
Today I saw Mayberry's very own lovely Joanna Moore, aka, Peggy McMillan, on an old Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode entitled "Post Mortem". She had that same wonderful southern drawl voice and was as lovely as ever. I was expecting her husband on the episode to be named Don, but he wasn't. There were two scenes of her soaking in a bubble bath. Of course that would never have made it to TAGS. Re: Alfred Hitchcock Presents
OK, I get that the people who portray the characters we love on TAGS have real names, and I think that most of us know their real names. But when you love a show as much as we love TAGS, I think that most of us come to think of the characters AS real people. I always say, "There's Aunt Bee" or "There's Barney Fife" when I see them on other shows. I don't think it's a matter of not knowing their real names. I feel that this site should be for having fun and sharing info and our mutual love for the show and its characters. So let's continue to have fun with it! Alfred Hitchcock Presents
My daughter was practicing "Funeral March of a Marionette" on the piano the other day and it reminded me that I hadn't watched any episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents in a very long time. I checked Netflix, and sure enough the series is available for instant viewing. As has been mentioned on here before, the first episode features Frances Bavier. Notice I did not say "I saw Aunt Bea on Alfred Hitchcock" -- it always bugs me a little when somebody says something like "I saw Floyd and Mayor Stoner in an old western movie." Use the actors' names, folks. If you don't know them, look them up on IMDb, it's not hard, and you'll learn something new. But I digress. Anyway, check it out on Netflix if you've a mind to. One more thing, when discussing Alfred Hitchcock Presents or The Twilight Zone or shows of that ilk, DO NOT GIVE AWAY THE ENDING, many people have not seen those episodes and may want to view them for themselves. If there's one thing I can't stand it's a family interferer, and if there's a second thing it's people give away the ending of something I was planning to watch. Re: Alfred Hitchcock Presents
According to the records down at IMDB, and they keep god records down thereAHP was one from 1955-1962 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047708/) and then brought back in 1985 for one year. And if you look at who appeared in episode one you would find our beloved Aunt Bee which aired on Oct 2, 1955 ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Re: TAGS/Alfred Hitchcock Presents connections
Got the first season of Alfred Hitchcock Presents for Christmas (39 episodes on 3 DVD's) and was floored at how many TAGS folks appeared. I never realized how great these Hitchcock shows were. I have all the Twilight Zone collections which are also excellent, but didn't realize how Rod Serling always had to throw in sociological messages in his episodes (usually left-wing), where Hitchcock just entertained you with a combination of horror, suspense, and humor. Does anyone know how long AHP ran for? This first season was from '55-'56. Can't wait to get the following years, and see how many more TAGS connections there are.
