Floyd's Manucure Hep Cats

2011-04-28 Thread Hughes, Clyde L. (HSC)
Shoot David, are those the same 'hep cats' wearin' them fancy threads that came
into town one time?

Over and Under,
Clyde Barn

Shoot Clyde, there was no need for Floyd to waste all that money on a mail
order course in clipping nails. Floyd could have just caught some cats and
practiced clipping their nails. Maybe the same ones he practiced cutting
hair on.

Orville Hendricks - Butter and Egg Man. If any of my hens decides to stop
laying, Martha practices making chicken and dumplings with them.

Also, Floyd indicated that his new manicure shop addition is nearing
completion and needs some female volunteers to test it out. He took a mail
order course in nails (Nails By Mail) and is eager to start clipping.

cats in Mayberry

2010-06-08 Thread Debbie Ritter

Although I don't remember seeing a cat, the episodes that mention cats that I
can think of right off hand are:

Opie the Birdman...where you hear a cat; In the episode where Andy goes to the
mountains to camp, he gets a phone call while on vacation at home to come
remove a lady's cat from the roof (or a tree)? and he says...well i can't do
that..you see Barney has the ladder; and the episode where the fella comes to
town that Andy had to shoot during a robbery (he is coming to give andy a gun
as a thankyou..) one of my favorite lines involves a cat That won't be
necessary barn, me and fluffy's been friends for years..

Ya'll feel free to fill in the blanks of the episode names...I am having a bad
case of sometimers disease...I can only remember things sometimes ..

I don't remember them actually showing a bug (not a closeup of one anyway),
but there is that classic moment from The Pickle Story where Barney
waves his hand at the pickle and says Shoo fly, shoo! then abruptly stops
and
says, He's dead!

As for cats, remember the neighbor's cat could be heard meowing at a time
Opie was raising the baby birds. The sound of the cat set off a panic that
resulted in the birds being moved to a cage.

Well, there's cats and then there's CATS!!

2009-07-23 Thread lisa jackson
Well, I'm surprised no one has figured Fluffy out.  She had a ROOF
COMPELSION!!  She couldn't help getting on the roof!!

Now for the other cat question - Why did Aunt Bee drop a pot on that cat when
Miss Frances loved cats?  Well, I know that one too... She thought it was a
bobcat (maybe a sick one) and she wanted it away from the house.  It may've
been sick like that one Andy caught!!  It could've been dangerous for Opie and
his friends if it was still around the next day.  I mean think about it - did
any normal cat ever sound like the sound that Otis made???  That sounded like
a cat who had too much of the moonshine!

Glad I could solve some mysteries for ya!!

mysteries and cats

2009-07-22 Thread kim
I don't know if this completely counts as a mystery, but it seemed like
Barney never did tell Andy the story about Myra Koontz. I, for one, would
really like to know.

Also why did Fluffy keep getting on the roof? Afterall she knew she
couldn't get down without help, and that her kittens would worry. Maybe she
heard about Aunt Bee's vase throwing - we'll never know for sure.

Aunt Bee/Frances Bavier/Cats

2009-07-21 Thread Marsha Scheuermann
Tom, I hadn't thought about that at all (how Frances B. must've felt when
her character had to drop a vase on a cat (actually Otis) in order to stop
its howling) but what a great point you made! Most of us know that Frances
was a BIG cat lover, and this must've gone against every nerve! I wonder if
it was on purpose that the writers had her do this, knowing that it would
sort of irk her? Not that they would intentionally be mean, but it could
have probably caused them to share a few giggles knowing what her reaction
would be upon reading and then acting this scene. You know, like Andy said,
.just tryin' to dig atcha a little bit.

Cats

2009-07-21 Thread Ken Anderson
I just have to share this true story about cats. Neighbor across the street
the other day called both the police and local animal shelter because he
found a dead white cat lying along side his fence. It was all drenched and
soaked with water. He assumed the kids next door found it drowned it in
their swimming pool and then tossed it over the fence. Police told him to
go pick it up and put it in a plastic bag. So he did. When he picked it up
with a shovel he made a discovery. It was a toy stuffed animal. Couldn't
you just imagine Barney coming to investigate that. It would have to be
some kind of falsifying. Wonder what the number is for finding a dead
stuffed toy animal.

Aunt Bee and cats

2009-07-21 Thread Holland Shoaf

Hi Tom and All..

A tidbit of info on Aunt Bees love for cats.

I worked with a friend not too long ago that was a yard worker/ lawncare for
Aunt Bee in Siler City.

He lives in Siler City now... I think.

He said that Aunt Bee had many cats and she often fed them STEAK.

Also her home was riddled with cat fur that her maid kept busy cleaning up.

Thats all that I have on that subject.

That's the actress of the woman!

Trying for a different topic unlike whats been discussed in recent

just saw TAGS episode High Noon a classic and find it IRONIC that
in the
episode Aunt Bee who hearing what was a cat (Actually Otis in the
bushes
meowing like a cat) actually drops a vase upon the poor kitty to
silence it
so she can sleep. imagine what Frances Bavier must had thought to
herself

knowing as we all do that she just LOVED cats. I find it funny and

Johnna, I think Winkin, Blinkin and Nod are great names for your cats.
Although a cat was originally blamed for the demise of their mother, it was
vindicated so I don't think the original songbirds would mind sharing their

New cats in town

2008-06-27 Thread johnna bixenman
Last October I had to put my dear orange tabby cat Opie to sleep due to old age
- he wasn't a spring chicken anymore. I had/have many outside kitties, and my
best friend named a special one Mayberry. She's quite a young fun gal - just
turned a year old this month, and last night, Mayberry had her own first kindle
- two black ones and one white/orange spotted. I have put a bucket on my head
and thunk and thunk of what to name these little ones, and right away, Winkin,
Blinkin and Nod came to mind, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to communicate
with them. Barney's not around to translate what they meow-er to me. Any
Mayberry name ideas?

Ken, are you sure you saw a cat on the Wakefield's porch? All I ever saw
was a chickin and one o' them Beagles. Maybe you ought to get you eyes
checked. Why don't you ask Floyd to look at 'em? He's a barber.

More feline references:

A: While looking at Opie's old school book, Ernest T. Bass says, I know
that word -- CAT!
2: Helen has a cat in Helen's Past (season eight). We never see it, nor
do we learn the cat's name.

Cats

2007-12-17 Thread GRITTON, JOE A (ATTOPS)

Being a true cat lover, I got to studying about how many episodes had

references to cats and I came up with this list. Sure would appreciate
hearing from any of you trained noticers who might have one that I
missed.

You get the hard ones and miss the easy ones, ole buddy. Remember when
Andy went to get Fluffy of the roof and Barney wanted him to take a gun?
(Fluffy and I have been friends for years Barn.'--- You know how you'd
feel if you just had kittens)

Also when Opie brought his Girlfriend in to give her the tour of the
courthouse, Andy said the only action then was getting a cat off the
roof.

There may have been another cat or two on the roof...when Andy was
taking a day off, and he said something about Barney having the ladder.

 Others???

Also wasn't the name of Opie's club you referred to the Wildcats? (Oops
I can't yell ya that)
