Christmas Card from The Newsome's 2022

2022-12-14 Thread Allan Newsome
Christmas Card from The Newsome's 2022
https://youtu.be/AImMay2NH-E

Another year has passed and even more exciting things have fallen our
way. In 2021, The Mayberry Effect documentary & Mayberry Man movie
premiered in the early fall. Allan believed this would be the end of
his career on "film." Little did we know that Mayberry Man: The Series
would be filming in 2022. What a blessing to be able to add even more
to the Mayberry lore through the series (expected to come out late
2023).

At some point in the production of the series, the realization hit
Allan that he would actually be sharing the screen with both Karen
Knotts & Ronnie Schell. It has been an honor to be on screen with
fellow cast members but the realization of being there with Mayberry
royalty is even more exciting as a fan of The Andy Griffith Show.

Jan and I were blessed to join fans on the Mayberry Cruise 2022, after
two years of covid related cancelling. During the cruise, we were able
to spend time with Clint & Kat Howard who are both as wonderful as you
would expect. Mayberry events picked back up and fans were eager to
leave the pandemic behind them and have some clean Mayberry fun.

This year also marked the 10th Annual Mayberry Meet-up in Mt. Airy,
NC. The Meet-up was started because of Allan going to Mt. Airy to
interview Betty "Thelma Lou" Lynn for his podcast and saying, "If
anyone's in town, we can meet-up" never expecting anyone to show.
About thirty people showed up that first time and then folks started
asking, "When are we doing it next year?" Ten years later, we're still
going strong with about 200 attending during the Meet-up weekend and
the Two Chairs No Waiting podcast reaching the 14 year mark and 712+
episodes.

WeaversDepartmentStore.com is now Jan's only job having resigned her
14 year long employment as an office manager at a veterinarian. Jan is
staying fairly busy keeping things stocked and shipping orders. Thank
you for that! In 2023, Jan and Allan will be picking up the duties of
writing/editing the Weaver's Newsletter from long time editor Jim
Clark. We'll do our best to continue to give the fans of The Andy
Griffith Show the high quality content they've come to expect. Please
subscribe to the FREE newsletter. Rest assured that your contact
information will not be shared.

All-in-all, God has certainly blessed us. Thank you for your
friendship and support. Merry Christmas!

A triple alumni sighting - and Merry Christmas

2021-12-23 Thread Joe
I recently watched an episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and surprisingly,
there were 3 TAGS alumni on it: first, of course, was Laura's friend and
neighbor, Millie, who was Ella, the local newspaper reporter in Season 8's
episode "Aunt Bee's Cousin"; then, there was Malcolm Merriweather, as the
teacher of an adult education class who had romantic designs on Laura; and
finally, there was Emma Watson/Brand as the oldest student in class, who
had a very funny part.

Merry Christmas to all. Thanks to everyone for the great posts and links

Christmas Greetings from The Mayberry Guru

2020-12-23 Thread Ken Anderson
I would like to wish all of you at the Digest a very Merry Christmas and a
Happy and Healthy New Year.

If there ever was a time we needed TAGS it was in 2020. During my 74 years
on this earth, I have never experienced anything like this past year.
Between the terrible pandemic and very divisive political climate, it was
so good to be able to sit back and visit Mayberry whenever the whim hit me.

We chose not to do any events this past season. At our ages, my wife and
decided it was best not to take any chances. As it turned out all of the
events we normally do were all canceled. We would normally participate in
between 80-90 car shows, parades, community festivals, and presentations,
so it was indeed a very strange summer. I only used one tank of gas in my
squad car all summer, when normally I would fill up about every ten days.

Hopefully, 2021 will find us returning to some normalcy and we will once
again be able to enjoy our regular routines, although I have decided to cut
back some on parades. I will not be traveling as far around the state next
year.

Have a very wonderful Christmas, everyone, and may 2021 bring you much
happiness, good health, and lots of friendships.

One of our family traditions is that every year, after attending the candle

are 5 people in jail. B] That at least three of them were apparently arrested

2019-12-22 Thread LGillum
The house settled in peace before the friendly fire.  Room lights were
softened to mellow nuances, punctuated by miniature points of
incandescence across sparkling rows of evergreen garlands along the
fireplace mantel.  Our Christmas tree twinkled majestically and
magically, brighter than ever, with a comforting angel presiding
overhead.   Telephones were silenced and the dog was not allowed to
bark.   All eyes were now focused on Channel 248, MeTV.   A gentle
tranquility spread over the domain, and there they were -- our Mayberry
friends and family -- sharing Christmas joy and love with Scrooge Ben
Weaver.   Santa appeared in Barney's unlikely image, kindling fervent
imaginations and memories from my own distant childhood.  Emotions
swelled as Miss Ellie and Andy sang their simple but angelic rendition
of "Away in a Manger."   And lo, it was suddenly Christmas in Mayberry.
And consequently, thankfully, thoughtfully, Christmas had arrived in my
little corner of the world.    And lo, it is Christmas once again.   God
bless us all, everyone.

Merry Christmas from Cold and Snowy Eau Claire, WI

2017-12-24 Thread Ken Anderson
It is Christmas Eve and as I sit here listening to Christmas carols, I am
reflecting on how much Christmas has changed since I was a young boy
growing up in a very small town in the 50's.
Christmas was a real time for family and friends. Our school and town had
no issues with having a "Christmas Program" where the kids portrayed
shepherds and angels. None of us had to travel for Christmas as most of
our family were all within a few minutes drive from home. Our gifts were
wonderful, yet our parents did not accumulate a lot of debt in order to
purchase them. They bought what they could afford. We had no need for
lengthy printed Christmas letters as we were such a close knit community
that we already knew what our family and friends had done during the year.
No trips to the malls or other big box stores. A lot of our gifts were
purchased through Christmas catalogs or from local merchants. We had no
shrimp, crab legs, oysters, or other exotic foods as our local grocers did
not carry any of it and I am sure our mothers would not have known how to
cook them. No internet to find out either.

I guess what I am trying to say is that like everything else in life,
Christmas has changed a lot. And I don't think it has been for the better
either.

So now I am going to pop my TAGS DVD in the TV and watch "The Christmas
Story".

Merry Christmas everyone and may you have a happy and healthy 2018.

Christmas Memories

2016-12-26 Thread LDGillum
I enjoyed your list of memories, Ken, and think we both share the same
type of Mayberry experiences growing up. My childhood memories are
from the days of our small, eastern Kansas farm, situated in the
woodlands and hills of a very rural environment. REA finally brought
electricity to our farm when I was 10 years old. The annual prickly
cedar Christmas tree in our humble home, cut from Mr. Fletcher's
pasture, was now able to twinkle with a small string of electric lights
of multiple colors. There were only 7 bulbs on this one string --
that's all we could afford -- but we thought it was wonderful and special.

My brother and I attended a small, one-room, country school about 1½
miles east of our farm. All 8 elementary grades were represented in
this small room with Miss Margaret at the helm, a versatile and
dedicated teacher who juggled numerous responsibilities with apparent
ease.Water was hand-pumped from a well and carried in to fill the
schoolroom's water keg. Miss Margaret carried in buckets of coal each
morning, shoveled it into a black monster (the heating stove), and
attempted to keep the drafty building reasonably warm, though the
earliest of our morning classes were taught while we students propped
our feet against a chrome guard surrounding the stove. Tall windows
invited all available sunlight into the room, and if artificial lighting
was required, two kerosene lamps hung from the ceiling did as well as
they could. Restroom facilities were reached via two long paths, one
to the girls' outhouse and one on the schoolyard's opposite end to the
boys' outhouse. Neither was anything to write home about, believe me.

Christmas found us producing extravaganza programs with music, plays,
and recitations. Miss Margaret was not a music teacher, so it was up
to Coleta and me, the two pianists in our student body, to teach the
music and play the piano. My dad tried to keep the old upright piano
in working order, despite hungry mice that nibbled on leather and felt
pieces inside the instrument. The farmers brought in an evergreen tree
cut from someone's pasture, and it was usually so tall that its tip-top
lapped over against the ceiling. Again, no lights on the tree, but we
students made ornaments, paper chains, and threaded popcorn for a
glorious monument to Tannenbaum nonetheless. One Christmas, a
neighbor was entertaining a guest from Germany who agreed to sing
"Stille Nacht" for our school's Christmas program. I was given the
privilege of playing the piano accompaniment for this lady from so far
away and we poor urchins were in awe. I dare say that no one in our
little sheltered community had ever before heard anything in a foreign
language. Even our Barney act-alikes never had opportunity to ask anyone
before, "Sprechen sie Deutsch?". Never could I have even imagined at
that age that someday I would be in Oberndorf, Austria, where "Silent
Night" was written and first performed at a Christmas Eve service.

Our own Village of Mayberry (Mound City) was a mere 3 miles from our
farm, and all of the wonderful characters we've come to love on /The
Andy Griffith Show/ were alive and well in Mound City, just as
predictable, just as entertaining, and just as cantankerous at times.
Like you, Ken, I wouldn't trade those growing-up times of my life for
anything. They shaped our values for a lifetime, instilled discipline,
encouraged a strong work ethic, and taught us to care for one another.
And, we didn't need high-tech electronics to entertain us. We had
reason to be creative, inventive, and industrious. No, not everything
was perfect, and there were a few down and bad times, but my selective
memory chooses to cling to these rich chapters of family and community.
They made us who we are and what we are. And so it was, and for the
present, I send my best wishes to all of you for a wonderful, joyous,
blessed Christmas. May your new year be bright, healthy, and happy.

A simpler Christmas

2016-12-24 Thread Jacob Shepherd
This is from my local small town newspaper, but you can see a lot of
Mayberry in it.

Jake Shepherd
Newnan GA

As I sat in my car in the longest line of traffic trying to get
through a stop light and watching everybody hurrying everywhere, I
began thinking of how Christmas was in Newnan in my childhood years. I
almost laughed thinking about my Mother and Daddy watching this
“circus” of Christmas shopping and decorating and entertaining. I know
they would not even believe what is happening on this earth and in
this town today.

Of course, there was no such thing as “online shopping.” All the
Christmas shopping was done in what folks today call “downtown
Newnan.” Well, in those days, though we lived within a mile of the
Square, we always said we were going “uptown.” And it truly was
“uptown.” You could get anything you wanted or needed in the stores
surrounding that beloved courthouse. As children, the only lights we
saw were the Christmas trees in store windows and the old street
lights, and the trees were either cedar or pine, cut from a field out
in the countryside. And Santa Claus was outside Kessler’s on
Saturdays, ringing his bell and talking to the children. His “Ho Ho
Ho” could be heard up and down the street. The stores offered exactly
the perfect gifts, and what they didn’t have, you could order from
that beloved Sears catalog.

There was no such thing as “gift cards.” That was mainly because you
only gave each person one gift, and that was a gift of something
either yearned for or needed. I can remember my Daddy giving me money
(by the way, there were no credit cards) to go across the street from
his barber shop to buy Mother a box of stockings. How excited she was
on Christmas morning to get not one pair, but three pair of stockings.
And she always gave Daddy a box of linen handkerchiefs bought at
Kersey’s men’s department.

My sister and I were thrilled beyond words for Santa Claus to come,
and we always got one “big something” such as a doll or, wonders of
wonder, a bicycle. I well remember my “big something” when I was 15
years old—a 45 RPM record player. Yes, there were other things under
the tree such as socks, scarves, gloves, and the stockings always had
candy or nuts and what a treat to get a tangerine.

I always went to Woolworth’s and bought Mother Evening in Paris
perfume or some good smelling bath powder, and one year I remember
getting Daddy a belt. Nothing was ever expected, so everything was a
huge surprise, and my sister and I couldn’t wait to get on the one
telephone in the hallway to call and see what our friends got and to
tell what we got.

Our tree was always a cedar with sticky branches which we as a family
had all gone to my uncle’s farm and found and brought home. The lights
were always colored and truly brought our home alive with its magic. I
remember walking in that living room and smelling that wonderful aroma
of cedar.

Yes, life was simple then. Today when I hear someone fretting over not
knowing what to give another for Christmas and when I hear every day
of those who might not even get one thing, it reminds me more of the
days when Christmas was magical and when the days before Christmas
were spent in church or going in groups Christmas caroling in the
neighborhoods. I wonder if caroling is still done these days.

Mother did all her baking, and our kitchen was warm with the smells of
cinnamon and the fruit cake cooking. I don’t remember Mother or Daddy
getting stressed out over Christmas because they knew their limits,
and they expected us to know that the real meaning of Christmas was
love and sharing and celebrating the birthday of Jesus. Christmas
cards were sent to family and friends out of town, so we didn’t stress
over leaving someone out on our card list.

Yes, Christmas was very simple back then but how very happy I was in
those simple days and how to this day, reading the story of Jesus’
birth still gives me cold chills and thrills me beyond words.

Today, I absolutely love driving “uptown” and seeing the magic of the
Court Square area and all the lights around the buildings and on the
trees and the wonder of Christmas will always be there for me. I am
blessed to live in this place and to see the many evidences of others
sharing with others during this glorious time of the year. But, I will
always be thankful I can remember the magic of a simpler Christmas.

Christmas Memories

2016-12-23 Thread Ken Anderson
Merry Christmas to Everyone here on the Digest.

I thought I would share some wonderful Christmas/Winter memories from a 70
year old who grew up in a very small midwestern town back in the 50's.
It is almost 11 p.m. and I just came in from shoveling three inches of
beautiful soft white snow. It is an absolutely beautiful winter night here
in Wisconsin. As I was shoveling my mind took me back to the days when I
was young and I thought about all the things I did that were so simple yet
so much fun.

I remembered the winter nights when my friends and I would jump on the back
of a hay wagon on a cold crisp winter night. There would be either a horse
or a tractor pulling us throughout the country side. We would end up at
someone's home where we would have treats and piping hot chocolate covered
with marshmallows.

I remember the small ice skating pond in town where there was an old
warming shack. We would gather there on winter nights and skate until our
ankles could no long hold us up. At Christmas time we could hear Christmas
carols playing from a speaker attached to telephone pole on the corner of
Main Street.

On a Saturday close to Christmas, Santa Claus would come to town and our
village hall was filled with children as we gathered to sing songs and see
movies. When the movies ended Santa appeared and we each received a brown
paper bag that contained an apple, a popcorn ball, peanuts, and assorted
loose hard Christmas candy.

Christmas Eve always meant the Christmas program at church and again I
would be with my family and friends. Following the program we would place
gifts under the tree for our minister and again we would receive a bag of
goodies from the church.

When we were real young our mother would have us write out letters to Santa
and then we would send them in to the radio station. Every night at five
o'clock, we would turn on the one and only radio and we would listening
eagerly to hear our letter read. The next day at school we were all
excited when we heard our friends talk about hearing our letters.

We had no malls or large box stores to go to for shopping. My mother would
order our gifts from the Montgomery Ward and Alden's Christmas catalogs and
the only shopping us kids could do would be at our local drug store and
hardware store. Of course we had very little money but we did manage to
buy a few small items for our parents.

I doubt very much if any of these activities would mean much to young
people today. But they meant the world to me all those years ago and the
fact that I still remember them vividly means they mean a lot to me today.

I would love to hear other memories from you good folks. Please share some
of your best memories of growing up in a different time and place.

Christmas in color

2015-12-26 Thread Elizabeth Busby
I agree with some who have written comments about the color shows. I
noticed things I never have before, and I've seen these episodes a lot. One
is that the court house is very colorful and I don't remember there being
color schemes like that in the 60's unless it's a California thing.
Also, in the Pickle story, I saw something that was curious. When the four
of them are eating dinner at the house, there is something in Barney's hair
on the back of his head. It looks like white lint or white tips in his
hair. Did anyone else see that?

Christmas Thoughts

2015-12-26 Thread Ken Anderson
Just wanted to let everyone know that I had a very nice Christmas. It
started out with us listening to Elvis singing "I'll have a Blip Christmas
Without You." We opened gifts after that and I got a number of really
special things but my favorite is a really nice blip sweater. Linda said
she bought it because the color matches my blip eyes. I also received a
nice birthstone ring and because I was born in September it has a beautiful
blip sapphire in it.

I hope everyone had a nice present. I wish we could post pictures here
because we had a nice snowfall and I have four spiral Christmas trees on
the lawn with blip lights and they look so nice with all our white snow.

I trust that everyone will have a great new year and now that winter is
upon us and Christmas is over you will not feel let down and have the
winter blips.

Christmas Special

2015-12-26 Thread Jim and Nancy
I enjoyed watching the TAGS Christmas show. The color did look
different such as the brick around the cells.
I did make one observation regarding a calendar hanging in a cell. When
Andy and Ellie were singing, the camera panned to the cell window to
show Ben. Just under the window was a calendar showing the first 24
days crossed off as if to indicate the countdown to Christmas. I noticed
the particular month it was on had only 30 days and the 25th was on a
Wednesday. The only time I could find a 30 day month with the 25th on
Wed. was November, 1959. The picture on the calendar appears to be an
ariel view of Washington DC as you can see the Washington Monument.
In the Pickle story, the characters were shown biting a pickle 30
times. This included Andy, Barney, Aunt Bee, Clara, Opie and the two
judges. If Aunt Bee was such a good cook, why couldn't she make a good
pickle?! One of life's little mysteries, I guess!

Christmas Traditions

2015-12-21 Thread Woody Younts
We always went to my paternal grandparents on Christmas Eve, had Christmas
morning at home as a family and spent Christmas afternoon my maternal
grandparents. They were the ones that lived in clear sight of Pilot Mountain
(I am talking about the mountain, not the town here). I could always count on
a number of constants: Mr. Goodbar, oranges, nuts, etc. We also opted for a
cedar tree instead of a pine tree.

One Christmas Eve that stood out to me was when it was so unseasonably warm
that I played basketball out in the yard in shorts and a t-shirt.

Christmas memories

2015-12-17 Thread Bentle, Margaret

Hello fellow TAGS lovers.

My favorite Christmas memory would be going to Granny's house on Christmas Eve
and spending the night.
My Granny lived in a log house.
Well on Christmas morning my Mom and Dad woke-up with snow on the bed, not much
just enough to make a mess.
The snow came thru the cracks in the chink, (that is the stuff between the
wooden logs).
Santa still found us at Granny's.

Another Christmas memory from a different year was having fresh chicken for
lunch.

Watching "It's a Wonderful Life" on three different channels on the same night.
The start times were just one hour apart.
Started watching the movie on all the channels and finished on the last
channel. My Daddy loved that movie.
Always getting an apple, orange and candy-cane in my stocking, and I still do.

Ken glad you are still doing the presentations.

Christmas Memories

2015-12-14 Thread Ken Anderson
One of the disappointments I have with TAGS is that there was only one
Christmas episode in the eight years of broadcasts. So many wonderful
story lines could have been written about all our friends in Mayberry and
how they would have celebrated Christmas. I think it would be really
interesting if we would each share a memory about what Christmas was like
when we were a child.

My father came to the United States from Sweden so we had some Swedish
traditions that we followed at Christmas time; one being the foods we ate.
We always had to have hard tack bread at breakfast and lutefisk was a must
either on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day although none of us kids would eat
it. My father had Swedish friends who lived in Chicago when we were kids
and each year a package would arrive from them. They were from Sweden too
and they owned a deli. So that package would contain all kinds of very
strange foods that my father just loved. Among his favorites was eel. He
would always try to get us kids to eat some of it, but we never did. My
wife's family also came from Sweden, so to this day we have to have
lutefisk on Christmas Eve. My wife eats that while I eat the meatballs.

My wife and I traveled to Sweden in 1999 where we stayed with a number of
my first cousins. We weren't there more than a few minutes when my cousin
apologized to me that we were not there for the eel .season. I still think
I hurt his feelings when I laughed.

Christmas Meanderings from The Mayberry Guru

2014-12-22 Thread Ken Anderson
I would like to wish all of my Mayberry Digest friends a most blessed and
wonderful Christmas. Although I know most of you by name only and it is
probable that we will never meet in person, I still consider you my friends
and I appreciate the daily connection we have.

Christmas when I was a child was a Christmas without the hustle and
bustle. We had no malls and we received no gift cards. We didn't spend
time traveling to all corners of the country to visit our family. Our
family was no further away than a few minutes drive at most.

Mom spent time in the kitchen making simple Christmas cookies and we always
cut down our own real tree. It was adorned by simple ornaments that we had
had for many years and those long tinsel icicles were a must on every
tree. The only Christmas music we heard were those carols played on our
one AM radio and any Christmas programs on TV were seen in black and white.

Santa Claus was very real to us as we were still innocent of the many hard
realities of life. We went to bed on Christmas Eve covered with thick
blankets and heavy coats because we didn't have central heat. Quite often
there were two of us in a bed which helped keep us warm.

None of my friends or relatives were well off so none of us expected much
for Christmas, but what we received was cherished for a long time. No one
delivered a free meal to our door and no one took me shopping or brought
free gifts to our door even though there were four of us without a father.
We spent hours looking through the Montgomery Wards or Alden's Christmas
Wish Book that came in the mail, even though we knew that most of the toys
we saw would remain just something to dream about.

When I see all the glitter and lights and frantic crowds all glamoring to
get the best deals only to pay for them with credit cards that they can't
afford to use, I long for those long forgotten Christmases of my
childhood. Christmas in a small Wisconsin town covered with snow 50 years
ago was very special. Christmas was simple, they were sort lived, but they
were very special. And I would give anything to be able to relive just one
of them again.

Merry Christmas Everyone and God Bless Each and Everyone One of You

New Mayberry Christmas Song

2014-12-18 Thread Ken Anderson
We saw Andy kissing Helen Crump
Sitting on the davenport last night.
She didn't see us creep
to the porch window to peep;
They thought that we were home

And they were all alone.

Then, we saw Andy tickle Helen Crump
Underneath her pretty little chin;
Oh, what a laugh it would have been
if Opie had only seen

Andy kissing Helen Crump last night.

Christmas trivia

2014-12-15 Thread Paul Mulik
Nice job coming up with TAGS episodes mentioning Christmas. A few more that I
had thought of that weren't mentioned are:

A: Aunt Bee invites Uncle Ollie and her baby sister (Aunt Nora) to come for
the holidays and to definitely plan on staying at least a week. Usually when
someone says the holidays they are referring to the ones in late December.

2: The Morrison Sisters mention Christmas as a suitable holiday for celebrating
with their elixir.

c: When the Taylor's visit a film set in Hollywood, Aunt Bee objects to the
script, asking (among other things) why Andy isn't shown delivering food
baskets at Christmastime. Andy quite correctly points out that people don't
go to the movies to see that, they want to see action.

Ken pointed out several (sandy claws? Nice try) including the time two of the
Darlings got into a fight about whether or not Santa Claus was real.
Interestingly, the two Darlings in question were Jed and Carl. Either two of
Briscoe's boys used these nicknames just this one time (unlikely) or Briscoe
has more kin that we never got to meet.

Christmas Gift

If I drew Frankie's name, I think I'd buy her a nice selection of
toiletries. You know, those doo-dads and 'purty' smelling perfumes and
lotions that girls seem to like? I'd buy her a nice sized selection, so she
could work her 'womanly wiles' on those young fellows at the neighboring
farm. Since her Pa could use her to a better advantage, by landing him a
built in farmhand of the male persuasion, that would end up being a gift
for her Pa as well!

Merry Christmas and New Year's Challenge

2013-12-23 Thread Janet Anderson
I want to wish all my Mayberry friends a very merry Christmas and a happy new

Merry Mayberry Christmas

2013-12-23 Thread LGillum
It is that time of year again when we silence the telephone, turn on all
the Christmas lights, and settle back to enjoy the one and only TAGS
Christmas episode. We used to say that we wouldn't even allow the dog
to bark during this magical episode, but we no longer have a dog.
Still, after all these years, I cannot watch this show without tears.
It reminds me of a wonderful childhood in a small, Mayberry-like
community, and I am blessed by those memories. It is an era and a
world my descendants may never know or understand. And somewhere in
that great Mayberry Heaven above, my dear parents and grandparents are
celebrating once again, just as we did in the olden days. As Madeleine
L'Engle once said, The great thing about getting older is that you
don't lose all the other ages you've been. How true! How true!
Our Mayberry memories live on forever, still alive and still fresh.

The past year has been very trying for us, including a very difficult
surgery, a few family issues, and the Great Flood of September that
wiped out 1/2 of our house. We lost thousands of items -- office,
computers, files and documents, family keepsakes, hundreds of priceless
photographs, antiques, Victorian reed organ, CD collections and stereo
audio equipment, audio and video recordings of the performances and
productions I've performed and directed, Brenda's extensive childhood
doll collection, her original Beatles records, documentaries and albums
from 18 exploratory journeys in Europe, and yes, even our trips to Mount
Airy and Mayberry Days and our conversations with a fellow Coloradoan,
Maggie Peterson (Charlene) . . . . and the list goes on and on. Thanks
to dear friends, family, community volunteers, and the Grace of God, we
are survivors, and we count our blessings. We look forward to a better
new year.

To all my friends at WBMUTBB and TAGSRWC, we wish for you a wonderful
and blessed Christmas, and a happy and healthy new year. God bless us
all, everyone.

Merry Christmas

2013-12-21 Thread Ken Anderson
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my Digest friends a very
Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. For the past 365 days I
have again been blessed by being able to enter out little corner of
Mayberry and share laughs and tears with all you great folks. It is indeed
a blessing to have the Digest out there for all of us to enjoy.

We have a wonderful blanket of snow here in Wisconsin so our Christmas will
indeed be white. Our bird feeders are full of hungry little birds each day
as they seek food during the winter season. I think this morning I
actually saw a left footed red crested near sighted lake loon eating some
of my sunflower seeds. It was a sight to behold.

We are off in a few minutes to finish our shopping. I will probably stop
for a hamburger for lunch. Which brings me to my question of the day.
Did Scrooge eat humbugers? And instead of worrying about bed bugs, did
he worry about hum bugs? and finally, if he would have been born in
Germany instead of England, would he have lived in a city called Humburg?

Merry Christmas and God Bless us everyone.
