Hawthorne Mayberry Christmas Village

2007-10-22 Thread Ken Anderson
I have added pictures to my website of the five Mayberry Christmas Village
buildings that I have received thus far. They are the Taylor Home, the
Courthouse, the Barber Shop, Wally's Gas Station, and the latest building
All Soul's Church. You can get a fairly good idea of what they look like if
you are thinking of getting them. You really cannot see the six lighted
street lamps that I have between the buildings. My setup is temporary as I
will be doing a much nicer display when we get to the Christmas season. If
you would like to take a look at them go to my website at
www.mayberryreflections.com. If you would like to receive the pictures by
email, I would be happy to send them to you so you can get a larger picture.
You might also have a hard time seeing the figurines of Andy, Barney, Aunt
Bee, Opie, and Gomer. They do not show very well on these pictures.

Re: Christmas Village...

2007-06-21 Thread zumafan
Following the link to these, I was at first was quite excited about it, what
with TAGS/Mayberry/Christmas being a perfect combination - and almost
impulsively signed up immediately. As I kept reading and looking it over, it
then dawned on me that maybe this wasn't what I wanted after all.
It all looks nice, but judging from the one episode we have to compare, it sure
didn't seem like Mayberry. The big lighted tree in the middle of town, the
tree on top of the building, all the snow (does it really snow in NC?). It
suddenly just didn't seem that realistic. So I decided to keep my Dickens
Village and pass on this one. Sure hope I don't have to kick myself somewhere
down the road for this decision though...

Hawthorne Mayberry Christmas Village

I remember reading about the promotional flyer being mailed out for the new
Hawthorne pieces and saw where Ken had mentioned his, so I was curious if they
are any different than the first set that came out in the 90's?

Thanks for any firsthand information you can share with us about these.

RE: Christmas Village

2006-08-30 Thread CAPT .
I talked to them yesterday they gonna send me info on it.
The guy said that they were gonna make up the courthouse first, and see how
that did before going onto the other ones he said the figurines were gonna
be of Andy and Opie.
I told him they need to put Barney in there.

This could be used I figure for part of an HO layout.

Maybe put Mayberry, Mt. Pilot and Greendale on one end of it, and
Hooterville, Pixley and Crabwell Corners on the other end (Model railroaders
take poetic license to do this You have to because of space.)

Here's Hooterville and the CannonballFrom inside Paul Henning's home
(actual photos of the model layout used on the show.)

Here's the Hooterville Cannonball

http://petticoat.topcities.com/hooterville_cannonball.htm

has anybody ever seen a layout of what the mayberry Train station and tracks
would look like

I told th guy on the phone, we need a mayberry train, and the Hooterville
Cannonball.

Both would be collectors items.

BTW got to get my plane set back up in Mayberry. (Surrey County-Mt. Airy
Airport.)
that will gimme a chance to bring up real world weather, and see if any of
Ernest T has hit yet.
Guess I gotta watch for flying rocks. LOL

Hey Folks,

We're probably beating a dead horse here, but this is what I found out from
the folks at Hawthorne Collectibles:

They tell me that you can place an order, BUT the set isn't in production
yet and they don't really know when or even if it ever will be. It is a 5
piece set. The figures are included with the set. Cost per set is $59.95 +
shipping. The buildings are: #1 Mayberry Courthouse, #2 Taylor Home, #3
Wally's Service Station, #4 Floyd's Barber Shop, #5 A Mayberry Christmas
Tree.

Mayberry Christmas Village

2006-08-28 Thread Harriet Browder
You can probably call Hawthorne and they'd mail you a flyer. I received one
too. I think those of us who bought some of the original Hawthorne TAGS
buildings (I have the court house, Taylor House, Wally's and Floyds/Foleys,
plus the squad car, Andy, and Barney) were the lucky ones to automatically
receive the flyer for the Christmas village. I'm tempted to purchase but I
do have the "real" set and they came with little christmas wreaths and
strings of lights (they don't light, just look like the do). The buildings
have little tiny hooks on the corners so you can decorate them for the
holidays. I love how the flag on the outside of the court house can be
removed so you can hang the wreath around it.

Since I live on the coast of Florida I've been following the tropical storm
Ernesto which brings to mind how it could easily be called Ernest T. It's
kind of flitting around, never going in a straight line, jumpy like,
completely unpredictable and irritating, first a storm, then hurricane, now
a storm again. I just wonder when it'll start throwing rocks. Which brings
to mind back in 1999 just about 3 weeks before Mayberry Days, Hurricane
Floyd hit the NC coast, making people's hair stand on their uneven
sideburns. Wonder what causes that?

2006-08-27 Thread CAPT .
I looked up Hawthorne's site

http://www.hawthorne.com Found nothing of Mayberry there.
I do have that old ad from about 10-20 years ago which i pulled out of a
TVGuide

Only thing I found close to the courthouse tho was teh Civil War era court
house. sort of looks like mayberry's courthouse & has a rotunda on top with
confederate flags flying in front of the bldg.

New Mayberry Christmas Village by Hawthorne

2006-08-25 Thread Hinesley Tim
I am not sure if this has been discussed or not, but I received a
letter/promotion yesterday from Hawthorne Village about the release of
the Mayberry Christmas Village. It appears as if Hawthorne is going to
release at least 4 buildings. The Mayberry Courthouse will be released
with a bonus of an Andy and Opie figurine. The Taylor Home will be the
second release with a bonus of an Aunt Bee figurine. The other
buildings shown are Floyd's Barber Shop and Wally's Filling Station.
There will be a release of Barney and Gomer figurines as well as a six
piece light set. All of the buildings and lights have Christmas
decorations on them and the buildings have snow on them. All of this
appears to be a permanent part of each piece and not something to
enhance the picture. The price is $59.95 plus $7.99 for shipping and
handling. You can even pay it off in two installments of $29.98 each if
you want.

Thanks,
Tim Hinesley
