Favorite Season

2008-08-25 Thread BCunnin107
Picking a favorite season is sort of like picking your favorite child. They
all have their strengths and they all have their weaknesses. But, you still
love them all just the same and you wouldn't trade anything in the world for
them

Favorite Season

2008-08-25 Thread Dan Goodwin
My favorite season is #2, no doubt about it, good ol' #2. No wait, I should
have said #4. Did I say #4? I meant to say #7, even though it is color.
Oh, I forgot about Opie's Charity being in #1, so my favorite is #1. But #5
does have so many strong story lines, so #5 it is.

Can I get back to you on that?

I love all the seasons and I've thought hard about this ... I say Season 5 is
the best. The show was in its stride with full character development.
After that seasons 4, 3, 2, 7, 8, 6 and 1 and favorite episode Man in a Hurry
but TAGS is the best TV show ever.

I love all the seasons i have the 8 season dvd set. But i really have enjoyed
the later seasons with Goober and Emmett and Howard what a 3 some they were
really funny. A nd They added alot of comedy, when Howard went bowling was
funny, they were all always arguing but were still the best of friends. I
really loved it. I have enjoyed those episodes more and more through the years.
It was teragic when don knotts left i feel that it took those 3 people to make
the comedy funny again and they did a great jobI heard some where that the
8th season was the highest ratings of all.. Is this true?? I wonder also did
more people by 1968-69 have tv's?? maybe in the early years not as many
americans had tv's yet in their homes.. could this be a possibility???    Mary

I very well may be the only person in the civilized world that will say that
my favorite season is.. the final season. Yes, I realize that these are
color episodes and yes, I realize that Barney only appears in one episode
(Barney Hosts A Summit Meeting), but I absolutely enjoy the Howard Sprague
and Emmit Clark characters, which were able to have more story lines with
the absence of Floyd the barber. After season eight, my next two in order
would be Season Five and then Season Seven. I really enjoy those color
episodes.

My favorite season is the first. I love getting to know the characters. They
are fun  and light-hearted. I love Andy solving the problems without the
person's knowing .

A Favorite Season of TAGS

A Favorite Season of TAGS

I'd go with the 5th also.
In fact, my favorite episodes are:

Three Wishes for Opie in case the Count is listening
Goober Takes a Car Apart I won't leave the courthouse unless there's a fire or
famine or I go the the drugstore for a sandwich
Andy Helen Have Their Day ...they asked me to stay and have a sandwich
The Lucky Letter did you mail it yet, I don't wanna know
Punch in the Nose who punched 'cha?
Aunt Bee's Invisible Beau sweet tea and spicy talk
Opie and the Carnival... (anything wrong with my eyes) .. why don't you ask
Floyd, he's a barber.

Season 4 would be a close 2nd.
Got time to breathe, got time for music.

But then, how can you really ever choose. They don't make them like this
anymore. We are all just blessed to have a little part of Mayberry to carry
w/us along life's journey. You're not talking to a jerk you know.

Re: Favorite Season

2008-08-15 Thread Michael Eury
My favorite season of TAGS is Season Five, the last BW one, and the
last to feature Barney as a regular.

By that point the writers were in their prime, and they and the actors
fully understood the characters.

Floyd returned, the Andy/Helen dynamic was strong, Barney was a sheer
riot, Goober emerged as a break-out character, and the season sported
some of the run's best episodes: The Education of Ernest T. Bass,
Barney's Uniform, and my all-time favorite, Three Wishes for Opie,
to name a few.

Favorite Season

2008-08-15 Thread Ben Sandifer
Regarding the favorite season of TAGS question, I took this to the boys at the
lab and they went to the www.mayberry.com website and carefully studied the
results of the Favorite Episode poll.
Out of all the episodes (28 total) that got at least 100 votes, there were 11
from Season 3; 8 from Season 4 and 4 from Season 1. Seasons 2 and 5 had 2 each
and Season 7 had 1.

Then after getting the special at the diner for only 80-cents (I don't know how
they do it), the boys at the lab looked at total votes for these 28 episodes.
Episodes from Season #3 had a total of 4,077 votes, while those in Season #4
had 3,035. So the boys at the lab have come to the conclusion that Season #3
is the best.

A word of warning - if you go around quoting these numbers, someone may accuse
you of reading the magazine section of the Sunday paper again.

One other thought - The episode Otis The Deputy in Season #7 had a very high
number of votes (717), while no other episodes in seasons 6-8 even had 100
votes.
Could these voters be confusing this episode with Deputy Otis from Season #2?
This might be a documented case of malfeasance. (Curious, curious, curious).

Favorite Season

2008-08-14 Thread DAVID QUINN

Now here is an interesting question for discussion. Since all of the seasons
of Andy are out on DVD, which is your favorite season? I know personally mine
would be the fourth season. The fourth season had most of my favorites in it
including Opie the Birdman, Barney's Sidecar, A Black Day For Mayberry,
Up in Barney's Room, My Fair Ernest T. Bass, and my personal all time
favorite Citizen's Arrest. I know every episode of Andy is a keeper, but
there are just some seasons that were better than others.

Orville Hendricks, Still selling butter and eggs. Martha don't allow none of
that hanky panky.

Well, finally I am able to answer a What's your favorite... question. I
can't pick out a favorite episode or line from TAGS, but I agree that the
fourth season is my favorite one, too. There were great episodes, very
funny, good lines and situations for the characters to find themselves in,
and just a great season altogether.
