Happy Days

2009-05-08 Thread Jerome Graber

I just caught a rerun of "Happy Days" with Jack (Howard)Dodson as Ralph Malph's
father. I didn't realize that he and Ron Howard got to work together on this
show.
Does anyone know if any other Mayberry alum were on Happy Days?

Happy Days

2011-07-07 Thread colonialcott...@netzero.com
Someone mentioned Fonzie and how Happy Days shows declined in later yrs.
Didn't the term "jump the shark" start with a Happy Days episode? Jump the
Shark refers to a show where Fonzie is water skiing and jumps over a shark.
The term got started from that show and now refers to any show that starts
declining after awhile. When the writers run out of material and start writing
unbelievable scripts or something that does not fit in. I think of Aunt Bee
flying a plane. She certainly couldn't drive a car, as Goober well knows.
I think it's a funny term. It makes me laugh every time I hear it.

TAGS on Happy Days

2007-11-16 Thread GRITTON, JOE A (ATTOPS)
I'd like to add an answer to my own question from a few weeks
agoWhat TAGS stars appeared on Happy Days?
I'd like to happily add to the list Eleanor Poutice aka; Big Maude
Tyler (the ballroom dancing Ex-con). Our own Reta Shaw appears as a
Babysitter for Joanie when the rest of the family goes to Opie's, er a
Richie's High School Dance (the parents to Chaperone, just like Andy and
Helen). It was great to see her in color. Its unfortunately a very
short appearance, but she was funny as usual.

Happy Days/Tags --Halloween

2007-11-01 Thread GRITTON, JOE A (ATTOPS)
Hey thanks for those Happy Days characters. I'll watch for Clint and
Rance. Last night I saw another TAGS alum. Remember the guy who was
hustling furs (Ronny Schell)??? Well, he moved up to bomb shelters.
Wouldn't that be an odd anniversary gift?

Thanks for your Halloween reflections Kenneth. I think Barney and Gomer
would be over at the Rimshaw place warning kids not to go in there. I
think Aunt Bee would be handing out something home-made like popcorn
balls. I remember getting those, Do you?Great idea on Bert
Miller..but he could just disconnect his doorbell and let them knock on
the door. What do you think he would hand out? One thing and then
another?

Do you think Ernest T would try to sneak around with the kids?

One that jumps out at me was Ralph Malph's father, the eye doctor, played by
none other than Howard Sprague himself, Jack Dodson.

And then there was the time Mork from Ork was watching TV in the Cunninghams'
living room and it was playing..."The Andy Griffith Show." Mork remarked
"Love that Opie!...I can't understand why an Earth child has a Martian name."

TAGS actors on Happy Days

2007-10-31 Thread GRITTON, JOE A (ATTOPS)

I know that we've done comparisons of TAGS actors on Gomer Pyle, Dick
Van Dyke, Lucy and obviously Mayberry RFD...but has anyone ever tallied
the number of TAGS actors who also appeared on Happy Days? I enjoy
watching ole Opie as a teenager and watched a couple episodes last
night.

Amzie Strickland (Miss Rosemary, Mrs. Sims house-buyer etc.) was on one
as a nosy neighbor of the Cunningham's. On the next one, Herbie Faye
(who played various criminals, con man etc.) was on as a pool hall
Manager ("I just work here"). These are both from Season One.

Anyone have any ideas of other TAGS connections?
-
Ken, I liked your Halloween dress-up list from a few days ago.

I would add:
Aunt Bee as Madame Curie
Barney as Dr. Pendyke, with Gomer as Opie Taylor Senior
Goober as Spiderman, or Swamp Monster---one of his Comic Book Heroes
Ernest T Bass as a Man in uniform (perhaps Boy scout)
The Darlings as Kenny Rogers and the Oak Ridge Boys
Mayor Pike as the Mayor or Munchkin Land
Floyd as a Rich Widower, with his son Paul (Andy) as an actor (With is
sword and long coat collecting exotic foods)
Clara--reprising her role as Lady Mayberry
Otis--as his Ancestor and war hero Nathan Tibbs
Howard as Fred Astaire

Thanks for the Nellie Sightings, I'm adding to the list for a website
update!

seems to me that Meyer's lake started to become infested with fresh water

Happy Days and Mayberry Connections in Eau Claire

2011-08-31 Thread Ken Anderson
I had new carpeting installed in my squad car today. Not sure if I ever
mentioned it, but the body shop where I have all the work done is called
"Happy Days". The owner named it such as he was such a big fan of the TV show
"Happy Days" and especially Henry Winkler and Ron Howard.
When I picked the car up there were two gentleman standing by it talking about
just that thing. So I guess I couldn't have taken it to a better place.
The owner of the shop is so proud of the fact that he gets to do work on it. He
sponsors many of the car shows that I attend and he represents
what so much of Mayberry is all about.

Ron Howard and Jerry Paris and Happy Days

2022-02-08 Thread Harriet Browder
> Ron Howard was a guest on the Smartless Podcast

Interesting article, Jeff. Thank you for posting.

I had to share the one paragraph when Ron calls Jerry Paris a genius. I’m a
member on the FaceBook group Dick Van Dyke Show and Paris is a beloved
character. Ron is so humble. He says he was offered chances to direct Happy
Days episodes but didn’t want to rob the cast of even one week of no Jerry.
Ron’s hair may be cut big city style but his heart is shaped in a bowl.

Another TAGS link is Jerry’s wife on DVD Show…Ann Morgan Guilbert who appeared
in Aunt Bee’s Cousin.

Mayberry spreads far and wide.
