Mary Grace
RIP Mary Grace. I had the privilege of presenting Mary Grace Canfield with a corsage when I met her about 15 years ago. She's probably received many of them since her appearance on TAGS. I'm sure she has entered Heaven properly adorned. Bobby "the Beast" Hay ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Mary Grace Canfield - RIP
Mary Grace Canfield has died at age 89. She played Gomer's blind date 'Mary Grace' (Thelma Lou's Cousin) on TAGS, but most known for "Ralph" on Green Acres. Interesting in the death notices online that many comments reference her appearance on TAGS as memorable, and it was noted that Mary Grace said "Ralph" was not challenging enough as an actress and was not what she desired to be remembered for. RIP Mary Grace. Quiet Sam ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
Mary Grace
Just saw a report that Mary Grace (Gossage) Canfield passed away today. It said she was 89. RIP. That brings up an interesting trivia question. Besides Mary Grace, and Andy, which other actor on TAGS used their own first name(s) in the show? I think they may have called Rodney Dillard, Rodney, but I won't swear to it. Orville Hendricks - Mount Pilot Butter and Egg Man. The answer sure aint me, they called me Orville, but my real first name is Woody. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Mary Grace in Hooterville
Maybe Gomer gave her the boost she needed to pursue her dream of being a carpenter. OR - maybe she hooked up with the guy with the drinking problem and developed one herself and then gave up and became Ralph the carpenter. OR - maybe Ralph is Mary Grace's?black sheep?sister - you know, kind of like Opie's cousin on the oil tankard! Unadorned Mary Grace
Hi Gang... The post didn't say but wasn't it her Flars..you know here core-sage that Gomer went after. There I go, spelling like Gomer talks again. Sure hope I don't get yelled at or make any one "tensed". I do have one question that i've always wondered. When the flowers in the core-sage all wilt, would it then be called a corpse-sage Mike Peacock (Marti wrote) >I asked? "What did Gomer go out to get to keep Mary >Grace from being >'Unadorned'.? Unadorned Mary Grace
Hi folks,? We have tried to stump our listeners for the past few months, but this was the first question that 'got um'.? I asked? "What did Gomer go out to get to keep Mary Grace from being 'Unadorned'.? I got all kinds of answers, but one listener worked at it as you'll see below. Gomer and Mary Grace
Ken, Very good points in your letter. I don't remember for sure but was it Gomer that said to Barney," You sure are Suave and Debonair" when Barney was telling Gomer about how to get a girl. Gomer and Mary Grace
I have always considered the episode with Gomer and Mary Grace one of my all time favorites. How touching when Gomer returns to Thelma Lou's house to give Mary Grace her corsage. I imagine this might just be the very first corsage she was ever given. Dances are a wonderful thing for the popular and good looking people who have no trouble getting dates. But to many others it remains just a dream. I have always felt that every girl should enjoy the thrill of going to a dance all dressed up and adorned with a corsage. It would create memories for a lifetime. I know my wife's first dance was not until I met her in college. Having been raised in a church where dancing was not allowed, she was so excited to be able to get dressed up, wear flowers, go to a nice dance, and then dinner at a nice restaurant afterwards. She still has the pictures of that special night. We sometimes forget that all people no matter what their level of intelligence or beauty still all want the same thing. They want to find someone who will care about them. While Barney may have considered Mary Grace a "dog", Gomer was able to look beyond Mary Grace's outer self and find the truly "nice" person that she really was. And Mary Grace was able to get beyond all that gas and oil smell and discover the warm, kind, and innocent qualities of Gomer Pyle. "Tall, dark, and door prize." Kenneth G. Rented the movie Pollyana the other day and guess who appears as a housekeeper? Mary Grace Gossage, Thelma Lou's cousin who they set up with Gomer in the episode "A Date for Gomer."
