[wdvltalk] More issues with add-ons in IE7
I read earlier posts about how to enable IE7 add-on but either I don't understand the instructions or something is not loaded right for me. I have downloaded IE7 and upon launch the browser "blurps" and indicates that Internet Explorer is running with add-ons disabled. Checking under tools>Internet Options>Programs>Manage Add-ons I can see that the status of all add-ons is "Enabled". Clicking on a listed add-on activates a set of radio buttons that allows me to choose "Enable" or "Disable". I've gone through all add-ons and clicked them back and forth making sure they all are enabled. Closing and relaunching IE repeatedly only results in continuing to run with add-ons disabled. Is there something I'm missing, or something flaky with my IE7 download? I dragged an icon onto my desktop (WinXP/pc) before I ever opened IE7 for the first time. Apparently, the icon launched IE7 with add-ons disable every time, no matter what I changed in the browser. I deleted the desktop shortcut and after relaunching IE7 from the start menu I found add-ons enabled finally. I dragged a new icon to the desktop and the problem is solved. RE: [wdvltalk] More issues with add-ons in IE7
Why not use the OS generated IE icon instead of a shortcut? Right click on your desktop, properties whatever tab you set the theme on (running Vista most XP so I am going off memory) advance button at the bottom left to turn on the icons for IE network, computer, etc.) Bones is you can access internet pyrites by right likely this icon of a shortcut. Perry, How far this answers you I don't know, but you will have noted my request over almost the exactly same problem. For my daughter this has been resolved. It appears that after turning off and making a number of unsucessful attempts to restart - the machine citing 'Desktop Active' [or Desktop X?] she abandoned it. Returning to the machine the following day it has started with add-ons working but Desktop Active [or X] now not. Gremlins are inventive little blighters, aren't they?
