Perry - the honorees and and to donate page are not lining up on right side (ie6.0 win2k) -lisa -Original Message- From: Gerenday, Perry (P.) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, December 10, 2002 10:56 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [wdvltalk] New site, baffling problem. Hey Everybody, I've recently launched a web site for my wife. She will be running in the Music City Marathon, here in Nashville, in the spring, to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She has already surpassed her goal for donations so this is *not* a solicitation for money. :) I'd like comments on the site, general or pointed, either are fine. IE6 PC users especially, please look at the donation page. For some reason beyond my comprehension, the DIV that hold the page content is too narrow and will not line up with the top and bottom graphics. This is only happening in IE6. I've checked the site in IE5, Mozilla 1.0, Opera 6, and even NN4.0. The DIV lines up everywhere except IE6. (did I say that already?) Anyone with an answer will be exempt from later solicitations for money. -Original Message- From: lisa [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] did you try putting your content in a table with an absolute width??? Lisa, No, I didn't try a table on the donation page, though I am using a table with absolute width on the honorees page. The only reason I used tables at all is to appease NN4x, which I believe some of the site visitors will be using. A DIV with a set width value should hold the width properly. I have adjusted for the variance between browsers dealing with the box model but the problem persists. (IE6 only) It's still a mystery. [wdvltalk] Re: New site, baffling problem.
Are you aware that your stylesheet has the following definition: width:524px; w\idth:478px; ? So this might be a problem. Also, your content_top.gif image is 534px wide, 10px more than your content div, which is probably why they don't line up. -Original Message- From: Howard Cheng [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Are you aware that your stylesheet has the following definition: width:524px; w\idth:478px; Hi Howard, Yes, that definition is intentional. The slash allows me to redefine the width for browsers that follow the standardized box model. The DIV has 40px of padding and 6px of border. 524-40-6=478. ...Also, your content_top.gif image is 534px wide, 10px more than your content div, which is probably why they don't line up. The content_top.gif is wider because if also has some of the background color on each side. (should have made the background transparent but I was lazy.) Thanks for looking. Apparently this will not be easy.
