It would be nice if I (as a language teacher) can invite students to a
lesson. It looks as it is now, everyone must sign up and create their own
databases. I'd love to have a student view where I can see where someone is
in learning, as well as how they are in relation to their peers.

Thanks, Alan!

At first I was planning on using Microsoft Translate API but they are not
currently accepting payments from residents of Russia. So I had to choose
something different. Currently I'm using the unofficial Google Text to
Speech API. If there are issues with the use of this unofficial API I may
later have to switch to a different tts provider.

Re: [web2py] Re: Announcement: Open-source meetup.com alternative released

2012-08-06 Thread Samuel Marks
First time I've had a look at it since my presentation.

Alright, enabled registrations, simplified group.py controller logic and
added a search feature to the events page.

Could I please get some advice—i.e.: code-review—and suggestions on how to
scale it—e.g.: where+when to cache and how to reduce # of db queries?

Also I should be able to directly reference the group name from the events
table, rather than just its ID. This would save many queries and simplify
my code. How can I do this?

Thanks for all suggestions,

Samuel Marks

Looks good. I would like to see how exactly I can login via facebook. All I
see on your demo site is a login page - no signup, no 'login using
facebook'. It's quite ugly, but I won't hold that against you, it looks
better than most websites I create.

[web2py] Re: announcement

2010-03-09 Thread dbb
Yes, the application is based on HL7 ( health level 7 ) protocol which
is embrassed by HHS. The application can be created as follows:
- how to create the binary codes

 Download web2py binary
Unzip it (do not run it)
Under applications create a folder "init"
Copy the web2pyhl7 app under "init" so that you have
applications/init/
models/db.py etc.
Rezip the web2py folder. Done

Mind when you make the binaries that migaret has to be set to True
or
False depending on whether you pack the databases/* and mind that
models/db.py hardcode my emai settings and assumes postfix running
on
localhost.

Yes, there are access limitaions due to HIPAA and other rules and
regulations, a patient record can be accessed only for meaningful use,
i.e., to treat the patient and the record is confidential.

Massimo :

Can you create along side the web2py code , the binary for download by
users, with its own version number.
or in a separate web site www.web2pyhl7.com, do we need to register
the URL or get it from google.

on another thread it looks like you need to register as a doctor to
get full access.

[web2py] Re: announcement

2010-03-07 Thread weheh
OMG, if this is what I think it is, this is awesome. I have been
telling all my doctor and government friends that the Obama admin is
making a mistake in spending $B to subsidize EMR since, with web2py, I
think EMR can be practically for free. Privacy becomes a non-issue
because you can put web2py, the EMR app, and your records on a USB
memory stick and take it off the web entirely if you so desire. But
more importantly, if implemented properly, free EMR puts the patient
in charge of the record. I only casually looked at hl7, but it looks
to me like you have taken the first steps towards making this vision a
reality. HOORAY! For this is what I have been calling the killer app.
And this is why web2py will live on, contrary to what the skeptics
think (like those who suggest that a pycon paper will make a bigger
difference).
