2019-06-27 Thread Matthew Ness via Webobjects-dev
Hello list,

Various tech sites reported on a fellow who has collated a large amount of
Apple videos and images over the years and opened up his Google drive.

His name is Sam Henri Gold, and there's a bunch of old WO recordings in there
over the years if you're interested.

Across from the Kebab house and down towards market is a small
Taqueria (El Castillo, I think) with good (read "real") Mexican food.
I highly recommend their tacos. I'd not attempt both the Kebab House
and this place in the same day unless you have a cast iron digestive
system. Just sayin... ;-)

There is a large Thai community around SF, so the Thai food tends to
be good. Chinese food, not so much.

For American greasy spoon classics (and very late night bacon and
eggs), the Pinecrest is where I head. Anjo thinks the bathroom is a
little scary.

Re: [OT] Restaurant recommendations at WWDC?

2010-06-07 Thread Miguel Arroz
Hi!

If you like sushi, there's a nice place called Jodima-Ann, near union square:

It's a small place, but pretty good. It has the best Miso soup I have tasted
anywhere in the world! Too bad I can't be there this year... :(

Nope, we will do recordings but no streaming. Streaming can be a
nightmare (network issues, people who can't access, etc.) and most
people who would listen to it are in Europia or Asia/Australia,
they would have to stay up all night to listen to it live.

Bah, Streaming? Where's the fun in that? What you want is to be
there in person so you can drink beer with Chuck, or watch Chuck
drink beer. Drinking beer while watching Chuck streaming over the
internet would just be sad. ;-)

But not nearly as sad as watching Chuck watching beer streaming over
the Internet.

-Is the block booking for the hotel also valid only for the weekend?

Good from June 5 to June 12.

To clarify, you can book rooms for any number of nights. If you are
just staying for the weekend, then just book the number of nights
you need. All nights attributed to WOWODC West attendees count
against our block number.

To clarify: counting against our block number is _good_.

The pants thing ... we can definitely organize that one ... ;-)

Re: WWDC sold out, WOWODC hotel booking for weekend or streaming?

2009-04-30 Thread Mike Schrag
I don't think the nature of WOWODC has been made clear enough. At
WWDC, you would maybe get, what, 2 hours at most of WO content, and
that's only if Apple decides to throw us a pathetic bone? At this
point, we don't even know if there will be ANY WebObjects content at
WWDC (I hope so, but there's still nothing on the schedule). So if you
were into iPhone stuff, then I agree that not having access to WWDC
sort of sucks.

On the flip side, WOWODC has something like 17 hours of content. If
you're looking for WO content, though, I can say that there is
literally no better place in the world to get it than these two days.
This is the best group of WO people I have seen in a single place,
ever (maybe years-ago-WWDC's are the only thing comparable). We've
got almost every notable community member speaking and we've got two
confirmed senior level Apple employees, one from MobileMe and one from
Apple Online Store, presenting. As if this wasn't enough (which it
is), we have at least three more really cool I-can-only-make-
insinuations-but-you-can't-depend-on-this-because-it's-not-officially-
approved-so-it-can't-be-announced-for-real-so-this-statement-is-not-
contractually-binding-and-i'm-indemnified-against-claims-for-

through-it-will-be-very-cool announcements* for WOWODC, and it all
adds up to "You want to be at WOWODC if you use WebObjects." I'm also
not _100%_ certain at this point that the full set of sessions (see
previous sentence) will be allowed to be recorded this year, so while
recordings will likely have 95% of the content and still be great,
there's a chance you're going to miss some cool stuff if you're not
actually there.
