Re: [libreoffice-website] Forums and RSS Feeds

2012-09-15 Thread Jonathan Aquilina
I think otherwise. I dont use RSS feeds at all, for me it would be
better if all moderators would be subscribed to every part of the forum
except the language specific ones unless they speak the language. That
way they would be notified by email when new posts come in and can
moderate them accordingly. This makes it less of a headache to find each
and every new post through rss or manually.

Most definitely a needed feature. This would be really helpful for
moderators also who work on multiple things for LibO, instead of having to
browse the forums constantly, having a feed that is auto updating for them
and then being able to jump in to help is easier.

Also, I haven't gone through all the emails, but have we discussed a
framework for the rules for the forum. If not, I'd like to propose that we
take a look at linux forums rules, I think they do a solid job.

Joel

2012-09-15 Thread Jonathan Aquilina
We could I am wondering create a forum mailing list where any new posts
get posted to it and any subscribed user recieves emails about new posts.

Then each language would have its own mailing list.

just a personal gut feeling, no veto: I don't feel overly comfortable
with posting each forum message to a mailing list... we decided for a
forum, so why should we now post that again to a list, where people may
want to reply via mail, which won't work?

If you want notification by email, then you can use the watch this
forum functionality. You'll be notified whenever a new topic is
created in a forum you watch.

Cool :) I think that feature would really help in terms of moderation of
topics to ensure no spam filters in as well as save moderators the
hassle of remembering which posts they have visited.

There is rss for the complete forum (via recent topics) and there is
rss feed for each forum individually, and also for individual topics.
There's no feed for a category though (but you can just add the
individual forums that are included in a category via rss, so no big
deal..)
