I think such a section is very important because user of and potential contributors to LibO can get in touch with us (face2face). Thus there should be a link from the website to the event list ;-) I wrote of my impression and thoughts to improve for marketing purposes on the following thread: http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.documentation.libreoffice.marketing/1 840 I think that would be a good idea, but it doen't work with a link from the website. Well - what is your definition of good :-)? I added one on the staging site (and also on the live site, but there it isn't used yet) http://pumbaa.documentfoundation.org:7780/get-involved/events/ by default it will show upcoming events, to view past events use the calendar-widget or the dropdowns below the calendar (clicking the month will select the hole month as range, clicking next to a week will select the week, etc), you can also use the URL notation to filter the date range http://pumbaa.documentfoundation.org:7780/get-involved/events/fomdate[/todate] fromdate and todate are in format MMDD - but don't need to be specified in full. i.e. http://pumbaa.documentfoundation.org:7780/get-involved/events/view/2010 will display all events of the year 2010, 201010 would display all of october, etc. (existing entries mostly come from a no-longer actively used calendar feed from OOoDeV) There are two basic types of events, one type has a full page for the content, the other one is simpler and attached to the calendar object compare the two dummy ones. http://pumbaa.documentfoundation.org:7780/get-involved/events/ ciao Christian -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to website+h...@libreoffice.org List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/www/website/ *** All posts to this list are publicly archived for eternity ***

It should be implemented for all languages. As usual, the NL teams could decide if they would want to have it or not. Not sure where it would sit on the menu, the Get Involved menu is already quite a busy menu line. Looks like the next logical place is in the About Us as this is where blogs and Twitter feeds are found. Does this sound like a good idea everyone? Move the wiki events calendar to the CMS calendar? This way, we will have a history/record of past events for planning and marketing strategy. I was hoping that we could filter in/out categories, for example report on events for the last year in N.America and S.America or by NL events. If not then we could do it by hand. Well, it doesn't a filter by default, but has corresponding api to add custom filters, etc. http://doc.silverstripe.org/old/recipes:extending_the_event_calendar I added one on the staging site (and also on the live site, but there it isn't used yet) Is it still on the live site? I can't seem to find it. Yes, you cannot find it because as I've written: it isn't used yet. You would have to create a page of type Calendar, and then add corresponding events. http://pumbaa.documentfoundation.org:7780/get-involved/events/ I am all for moving the wiki events calendar to the CMS.
