[fedora-websites] Issue #756: Use new overview adoc as source for mini-page to go on front of https://fedoraproject.org

I am +1 this and willing to work with Web to determine the best place for it to live. It sounds like it will need the translation toolset from docs but a hosting site like web. I have some ideas ... However, what we need to get going for realz is the header/footer from design. `` To reply, visit the link below or just reply to this email https://pagure.io/fedora-websites/issue/756 ___ websites mailing list -- websites@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to websites-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org

mattdm added a new comment to an issue you are following: `` I updated the issue above with a new proposal. I'm not sure where translation fits into this or how it interacts with docs.fpo proposal — note that `_topic_map.yml` doesn't even come into it. @jibecfed Note that I'm _not_ suggesting getting rid of getfedora.org at all. Just to stop redirecting fedoraproject.org's top level to it. (I feel like it's really confusing when the top page of a site redirects to a whole different site, but there's still content under the first one — in this case, prominently, all the wiki content.) `` To reply, visit the link below or just reply to this email https://pagure.io/fedora-websites/issue/756 ___ websites mailing list -- websites@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to websites-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org
[fedora-websites] Issue #736: Should we add https://fedoraproject.org/easyfix/ to the footer
asamalik added a new comment to an issue you are following: `` +1 to @bex 's point As an example, I could see someone might want to do a one-off fix. Either of something that's affecting them as a user, or for an experience. But the term "joining a community" might feel as a too big commitment. Also, it feels more natural for someone to do a few easy fixes and eventualy becoming a part of the community as opposed to joining and then figuring out what to do. But that's just a feeling, I have no data to support it... `` To reply, visit the link below or just reply to this email https://pagure.io/fedora-websites/issue/736 ___ websites mailing list -- websites@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to websites-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org

[fedora-websites] Issue #756: Idea for consideration: Redirect front page of fedoraproject.org to new overview docs
bex added a new comment to an issue you are following: `` > @jibecfed That's definitely worth taking into consideration. I think we could > do multi-language more quickly for just this one page rather than waiting for > a full docs solution, especially if we go with @duffy's suggestion of > re-publishing the content in a different format for the front page. Not sure I followed @duffy's solution here. Can someone rephrase it? I am -1 for hacked multi-language as we are pretty close. I am cool with a deadline though. > Right now, we have asciibinder to translate the asciidoc file into html for > the docs site. But we could just run asciidoctor directly (as asciidoctor -s > to create "bare" HTML which could be inserted into whatever workflow works > for the websites team. > @bex , does that seem like a reasonable idea? We could simply add a > "translations" subdirectory to council-docs/project/, and then different > language subdirectories under there? [fedora-websites] Issue #768: Proposal: Kill fudcon.fedoraproject.org and drop it from the repo
robyduck reported a new issue against the project: `fedora-websites` that you are following: `` This is a proposal which also needs inputs from Infra folks - @kevin @puiterwijk Actually we build this website hourly and still maintain the code to make happy the builder, but we redirect people to flocktofedora.org, which means nobody uses this website anymore. While also fedoraproject.org has a redirect, the main domain will be used again in the future and still serves some minor bits to developers (i.e. network-manager) and users. ## Reasons ## fudcon.fedoraproject.org should be dropped because: * FUDCons are *dead* * If a region wants to organize a FUDCon-like event, it will probably have its own website (i.e. fudconlatam.org) * fudcon.fp.o is not mobile friendly and doesn't use our bootstrap layout, pages are very old style * fudcon.fp.o has no Internationalization, means it is not translatable * Traffic we had on this website before redirecting it, has been very very low * In the future we won't need this subdomain I am also asking for Infra inputs, because if we decide to drop it from the repo, we will need to make some changes also in Ansible, in order to not look for it during the build. Any reference to this website needs to be dropped too. Thoughts? `` To reply, visit the link below or just reply to this email https://pagure.io/fedora-websites/issue/768 ___ websites mailing list -- websites@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to websites-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org
