[weewx-user] Re: Failure in my network with weewx and raspbian

2017-06-22 Thread Antonio R
Ok, network problems, so far have not started.
The index.html template, I changed it to one that I had before running, now
the raspberry does not work is blocked.

[weewx-user] Re: Steel Series Gauges and RealTime update - 2.5 second interval - how?

2017-06-22 Thread Steve2Q
Gary...making progress!! I made the corrections you suggested and one I
found myself :); there was a duplicate line under [[Engine]] and when I
removed it it started. If you look at my site;
http://photokinetics.org/Weather/index.html and go to the Steel Gauges
button at the bottom you will see that the gauges don't "know" that weewx
is back online.

At the present time I have this entry for [[SteelSeries]] in weewx.conf
under [StandardReport]. Perhaps it is not commented and/or indented
properly (I am slowly learning that is important)

[[StandardReport]]
# See the customizing guide to change the units, plot types and line
# colors, modify the fonts, display additional sensor data, and
other
# customizations. Many of those changes can be made here by
overriding
# parameters, or by modifying templates within the skin itself.

# The StandardReport uses the 'Standard' skin, which contains the
# images, templates and plots for the report.
skin = Standard

#[[SteelSeries]]
#skin = ss
#HTML_ROOT = public_html/ss

There is also a /skins/ss directory from when I first added the gauges
which were updating at my 2 minute archive interval.

That is where it is now. Are there any specific log files and/or should I
stop weewx, turn on debug and let it run?

Also, a side question; /var/log is filled with various type of log, gz
files etc. Can all or some be deleted?

I am in your debt...Steve

[weewx-user] Re: Failure in my network with weewx and raspbian

2017-06-22 Thread Antonio R

It is not possible to run with weewx, now I am blocked, I can no longer
connect to the IP address and I am not generating the web page.
LED is red.
I would like to know if there is any image to download that does not fail
exclusively for my FineOffsetUSB and that I configure only personal data.
I would also keep a backup for future bugs.
Now the copy I have, when I install again always gives the same faults, I
think origin is not good.

I changed the version, now it seems to work fine.
It is newly installed.
The log looks correct.

[weewx-user] Re: Failure in my network with weewx and raspbian

2017-06-22 Thread Antonio R
inicio.
Tambien he probado instalar raspbian jessie-lite y luego instalar con

Re: [weewx-user] Re: Failure in my network with weewx and raspbian

2017-06-22 Thread Antonio R
Ok, un colega de la zona me dijo lo mismo, pero el tema esta en que la
imagen funciona tres cuatro dias bien.

[weewx-user] Re: Steel Series Gauges and RealTime update - 2.5 second interval - how?

2017-06-22 Thread gjr80
Steve,

Missed that duplicate, didn't see the woods for the trees. No need to look
in any weeWX logs, I can see that everything is working as it should as
there is a gauge-data.txt appearing in your Weather/gauges directory on
your web server and it is current and updating. Since gauge-data.txt is in
a different location to where the previous ss skin generated gauge-data.txt,
you will need to make a change in one of the SteelSeries scripts so that
the SteelSeries Gauges know where to find gauge-data.txt.

You need to edit the file gauges.js on your web server, you should find it
in the Weather/ss/scripts directory. The following line (about line 68):

realTimeURL_weewx : 'gauge-data.txt', //*** WeeWX Users: Change to your
location of the gauge data file ***

needs to be changed to

realTimeURL_weewx : '../gauges/gauge-data.txt', //*** WeeWX Users: Change
to your location of the gauge data file ***

While you are at it, you should turn on display of the windrose since we
now have windrose data in gauge-data.txt. Go down to line 323, it should be:

config.showRoseGauge = false; // FIXME: add wind histogram to weewx
SLE

and change it to

config.showRoseGauge = true; // FIXME: add wind histogram to weewx SLE

Make the changes, save the file and try refreshing your gauges page. It
should update on each loop packet and it should also show the windrose
gauge.

I noticed in the log which Antonio published that his dates went from 11
June, back to 1970 and then to 22 June which makes me wonder if he has got
bad data in the database possibly causing issues - especially if his rpi is
losing network connection frequently and restarting often (which also seems
likely).

Yes, but weewx waits until a sane time appears so, provided NTP is doing
its job, this should be ok.

2017-06-22 Thread Andrew Milner
I agree with you Tom - in 'normal' circumstances. However 11-22 is a long
time (during which he was posting failures). I am suspicious about both
the base rpi install (since he appears to use images rather than
installing) and maybe even his sd card - especially if he has networking
issues and/or the notorious rpi power problems underlying the problems.
The jump from 3.1 to 3.7 for weewx makes me also suspect that regular base
update/upgrades may not be being done as standard maintenance tasks
either. Seeking to use images as backups makes me suspicious that if an
old 'image' is used to get things running - this old image is not then
updated, with an end result being that one is just not sure exactly what is

[weewx-user] Re: Steel Series Gauges and RealTime update - 2.5 second interval - how?

2017-06-22 Thread gjr80
Steve,

The issue is that the SteelSeries Gauges cannot find your gauge-data.txt file.
When I point my browser at
http://photokinetics.org/Weather/ss/scripts/gauges.js I see the following:

realTimeUrlWeewx : 'photokinetics.org/Weather/gauges/gauge-data.txt',
//*** WeeWX Users: Change to your location of the gauge data file ***

which is different to what you posted. I think you want

realTimeUrlWeewx : '../gauges/gauge-data.txt', //*** WeeWX Users:
Change to your location of the gauge data file ***

Interestingly enough your change to display the windrose took, but the one
above did not. Try making the change again.

2017-06-22 Thread gjr80
Just noticed in gauges.js at about line 37 it shows

weatherProgram : 0, //Set 0=Cumulus, 1=Weather
Display, 2=VWS, 3=WeatherCat, 4=Meteobridge, 5=WView, 6=WeeWX

not sure how this ever worked as it needs to be 6 for it to work with weeWX.
You will need to change it to (note no quotes)

weatherProgram : 6, //Set 0=Cumulus, 1=Weather
Display, 2=VWS, 3=WeatherCat, 4=Meteobridge, 5=WView, 6=WeeWX

[weewx-user] Re: Failure in my network with weewx and raspbian

2017-06-22 Thread Andrew Milner
Why was weewx restarted at 0526 on 23 Jun?? There was no reported error.

Even with the restart your installation loads to awekas, CWOP and
wunderground OK all the time - so weewx is continuing to operate correctly.

What exactly is your problem??
