I haven't tried any of the new features and I've never changed my archive
interval, but upgrading from 3.6.2 went without any issues.

I am using a Vantage Pro2 Plus and ran weewx 3.6.2 with an archive interval
of 15 minutes for a couple weeks, then a few weeks ago changed to 5
minutes, and would like to test 3.7.0 beta, but have the DEB version of
3.6.2 installed.

I just installed the weewx 3.7.0 second beta DEB package over a previously
installed 3.6.2. Before installation I made a backup copy of
'/etc/weewx/weewx.conf' and then took the installation option to use the
developer's version, so I would be able to see what changed.

None of my customizations were copied to the new 'weewx.conf' file, which
is what I had expected, except for data in the [Station] stanza, where
there is a mistake. I have a West Longitude location, so the correct
Longitude value is negative, but the negative sign was dropped. That also
happened when 3.6.2 was originally installed. I am quite sure that I typed
a negative sign during 3.6.2 installation, but it was dropped, specifying a
location in Eastern Asia, instead of the Western U.S.

I installed the DEB version of 3.7.0b2 over 3.6.2 today. The database
contains about two months of data from a Vantage Pro2 Plus. The first
couple weeks the archive interval was 15 minutes. Since then it has been 5
minutes. After installing 3.7.0b2 and fixing file paths in
'/etc/weewx/weewx.conf' I ran the database update utility on a fast server
as follows:

sudo wee_database --update
Using configuration file /etc/weewx/weewx.conf
Using database binding 'wx_binding', which is bound to database
'archive_sqlite'
The update process does not affect archive data, but does alter the
database.

The "05:00 PST (1487214300)' timestamp seems strange, because it translates
to Thu, 16 Feb 2017 03:05:00 GMT and I ran the update procedure just after
noon today on 18 Feb. However, I unplugged the anemometer at about that
time so I could move it from 5 feet to 30 feet above ground and haven't
reattached the cable yet, so that timestamp must be associated with that
some way.

3.7.0b2 seems to run fine, but hasn't been running very long. The data
displays appear to be correct, but I haven't looked carefully yet for
issues.

The timestamps you see there are actually part of progress lines that 'counts
up' through your records as the fixes are applied. There is a formatting issue
with the output that overwrites that line. I suspect that since you only have a
small amount of data in your archive it counts up very quickly.

Hi Tom,

I use the meteostick driver which produces partial loop packets.

In weewx.conf I have set:
[StdCalibrate]
[[Corrections]]
pressure = pressure - 1.3# checked with vantage values

I have set debug=1.
In version 7.0b2 I got many warnings in my debug logging like:
Feb 19 10:48:51 pi21 mstk[1109]: engine: calibration for 'pressure' ignored
in loop: name 'pressure' is not defined
Feb 19 10:48:53 pi21 mstk[1109]: engine: calibration for 'pressure' ignored
in loop: name 'pressure' is not defined
Feb 19 10:48:55 pi21 mstk[1109]: engine: calibration for 'pressure' ignored
in loop: name 'pressure' is not defined
etc. etc.

Please suppress these type of messages for drivers with partial loop
messages.

Cheers,
Luc

that is my bad - the intent was to help diagnose calibration problems, but
as you note it results in too many log entries.

#temp3 = temp3 + 0.0

humidity5 = humidity5 - 1
# For each type, an arbitrary calibration expression can be given.
# It should be in the units defined in the StdConvert section.

here is the problem. apparently you entered a non-negative longitude when
you first installed weewx. debconf remembered that value, so it is used
again when a new weewx.conf is created. (debconf is a debian thing - it
remembers the settings for installing/configuring deb packages so that
dpkg/apt do not have to prompt each time you update the software)

this is how you would modify the weewx/latlon field in the debconf
datastore:

echo "set weewx/latlon 44.653749, -124.048677" | sudo debconf-communicate

similarly for any of the other values.
