"Katabatic" winds are cold winds, like Bora and Mistral, Föhn is warm, so I 
don't know if we are mixing up phenomenons here. Anyway, talking about all 
these stuff reminds me, that anytime in the late 2020s, a weewx-groupie 
from Austria, with a bottle of some kind of single malt in his hands,  will 
ring a doorbell in Hood River, OR.

Another fun fact: at least where I come from, we use "Fö(h)n" if we want to 
name the device you know as "hair dryer" (although we know the 
"Haartrockner" = hair dryer, as well). Fön ® 
 is, or was, a registered 
trademark for hair dryers and the name was inspired by the Föhn. Both 
produce warm, dry air.

experienced this "Chinooks" in Calgary. Adiabatic heating.
