[WestNileNet] 1billionhungry project

2010-06-01 Thread Ezama Ruffino
Hi all
I have received an e mail from Maria DeCristofaro (Media Relations Officer
of FAO Rome) in which she stated "

I am attaching our press release on the launch of the 1Billionhungry project
aimed at drawing attention to the fact that the number of people suffering
from the effects of hunger has, for the first time, exceeded 1 billion. The
FAO Campaign is not only aimed at creating greater public awareness of this
fact but will also attempt to put pressure on world leaders by asking people
the world over to sign up to a petition calling for more to be done to
combat hunger.

2010 is an important year in which to assess our progress towards reaching
the Millenium Goals as set out by world leaders at the turn of the
millennium. The UN General Assembly will discuss this at a special meeting
on progress towards the fullfilment of the millennium goals in September.
The FAO project is attempting to address the fact that much more needs to be
done in the area of hunger abatement."

You find this message at http://www.fao.org/news/newsroom-home/en/

Please lets sign this petition at

2010-06-01 Thread Arike J Pundro

Dear Caleb,

I think if a person is hired by the Foundation, then there is no point of him
asking for the budget of the foundation. But as some wn members has mentioned
we are all the same people and we also need to know that we have a common
agenda to make. Finally we also need know that religion should not separate us.
The foundation should not be based on donors from one single religion and we
should not make a mistake of a single religious donor to control the
foundation. The were some religious organization that were closed because
terrorist affiliation. So there we need to be careful of that.

a person of integrity. No Experience is needed but any experience is of added

Good evening ladies and gentlemen,

On behalf of the westnile nite committee of WNF, I would like to thank all
those who made it to Pa Lui last Friday evening for the popular westnile nite-
It was an absolute success. Each passing event just seems to get even bigger
and better.
This particular event was special in way because the management of Pa Lui has
finally agreed to share part of its proceeds with WNF. An extra 500/= per
bottle was charged on all locally manufactured beers ie Bell, club, Moonberg
etc to specifically support activities and initiatives of WNF. Am happy to
announce that the management of Pa Lui yesterday honoured its pledge and wrote
us a cheque amounting to 500,000/= which will be handed over to the treasurer
to be banked on the foundation's account.

Once again, thank you so much for the great turn up and please keep the
solidarity burning.

Regards,

Good evening ladies and gentlemen,

On behalf of the westnile nite committee of WNF, I would like to thank
all those who made it to Pa Lui last Friday evening for the popular
westnile nite- It was an absolute success. Each passing event just seems
to get even bigger and better.

This particular event was special in way because the management of Pa
Lui has finally agreed to share part of its proceeds with WNF. An extra
500/= per bottle was charged on all locally manufactured beers ie Bell,
club, Moonberg etc to specifically support activities and initiatives of
WNF. Am happy to announce that the management of Pa Lui yesterday
honoured its pledge and wrote us a cheque amounting to 500,000/= which
will be handed over to the treasurer to be banked on the foundation's
account.

Once again, thank you so much for the great turn up and please keep the
solidarity burning.

Regards,

Roger B Opigo

Dear Caleb,

Regrading distribution of West Nile Foundation pocuments, I would suggest
that set up a small commitee to meet the influencial government official you
had talked to. Some of our executive are on the ground, please organize
yourselves and meet this person for face to face dialogue. Share our
grievances, concerns, itentions pertaining to WNF.

Right now our documents are not official until WNF is registered with NGO
Secretariat.
Promise to give him/her our documents as soon as they are approved by
members.

In the meantime, tell him/her our rough budget verbally. If he/she wantes to
contribute, he/she is welcome.

Dear Bros/Sisters,

I have never seen anyone in this part of world dramatically narrating a
night-fight between his/her spouse at dawn, all of us have better options to
explore and improve WNF and we really need to be serious of items posted on
this website.because the whole world including hackers are
reading your messages just type your mail address in
www.google.com
, here you will know what kind of postings you ever done and you will never
delete these from google's server,my advice to you is access each other's
tel. number just talk personally its the best way to solve misunderstandings
and I know 2 of you are not enemies, such misunderstandings do happen, leave
it and the 2 aggrieved parties shouldn't post/reply again or apologize
again, bse the fire will reignite again

Thanks

Dear all,

With all due respect to all members of this forum, I do not know
Christine personally and I may have misunderstood her too! But I think
if some one knows her personally they should have a face to face and
sort out anything personal outside this forum.

I believe the statement made by Mr. Bugason, was meant in a positive
manner, the hope that the approach being applied through the forum would
eventually reach the persons in charge in the Government system of
Uganda.

The Government has so many offices pursuing all sorts of objectives and
must be pursued in an organized manner, including the main mandate of
developing the people of Uganda. It may however be impossible for
individuals to solely solve development challenges from with in the
Government system.

However organized communities may be able to in clever ways lobby for
services or remind the Government of Urgent development needs. I there
wish to advise that Dr. Agedra's statements may have been made in this
light.

All we need to improve in this forum is harvesting of the information
for action planning and implementation. This has started well with the
Education Committee and other committees - so I think we shall get some
where eventually.

I interact very closely with some of the people in leadership of WNF and
they are working, may be slow but they will soon return with a useful
way forward.

Lets avoid furthering unwarranted discussions I plead with all otherwise
this baby will DIE!

Hi Caleb,

Having been on the sidelines for a while, though tracking the good strides
made by you and your team, and VERY skeptical of "This Person who is so
influential in Government" requesting for WNF budget. Skeptical for the
following reasons:

1-The timimng is suspicious;
2-Am not sure where this person has been?
3-If he is so influential, there are probably other avenues for him or her
to chanel development into West Nile region than through WNF;
4-When did this influential person notice the significance of WNF?

However, with your competent team, I have no doubt you will make a befitting
decision on behalf of WNF as already alluded to by Bwana Jopo!

Nice day
