For the use-case you suggest (an extract from a blog), it seems that (containing the title of the post, linked to the blog) and would be a perfect match; maybe adding a class="extract" to the element for better accuracy. The tag could optionally contain a href attribute to the full version of the content. This is a clear example of presenting a solution and asking if there is a problem for it to solve. Generally it is better to begin by outlining the problems and use cases that you believe aren't adequately addressed, which makes it a lot easier to determine whether or not existing markup is suitable, develop an appropriate solution if needed, or determine that it's not worth addressing. -- Lachlan Hunt - Opera Software http://lachy.id.au/ http://www.opera.com/
[whatwg] Extracted content element.
Is there a need for a tag in HTML5 to specify extracted content semantically, such as the first few paragraphs of a blog post. The tag could optionally contain a href attribute to the full version of the content. Just a quick idea, and I wanted some community thought on it. Thanks, Jamie Rumbelow
