For the use-case you suggest (an extract from a blog), it seems that
 (containing the title of the post, linked to the blog) and
 would be a perfect match; maybe adding a class="extract"
to the  element for better accuracy.

This is a clear example of presenting a solution and asking if there is 
a problem for it to solve.  Generally it is better to begin by outlining 
the problems and use cases that you believe aren't adequately addressed, 
which makes it a lot easier to determine whether or not existing markup 
is suitable, develop an appropriate solution if needed, or determine 
that it's not worth addressing.

semantically, such as the first few paragraphs of a blog post. The  
 tag could optionally contain a href attribute to the full  
version of the content.


Just a quick idea, and I wanted some community thought on it.
