since janne is mia we need to once again decide on the future of the portlet
support. if we dont have a core committer who wants to work on it and knows
how the portlet spec works we might consider offshoring this portion into
wicket-stuff.

Done, actually I opened two as the page expiration on each request was not
solved by adding a toString method to PortletRequest. I've checked both in
Pluto and in Netbeans 5.5's portlet container...

Yes. What a troubled past portlet support has. We currently have two
more or less dormant committers who got specifically on the project to
work on that. But it seems that at this time we have to rely on user's
patches solely.
