[Wiki-research-l] Future IdeaLab Campaigns results

2016-02-25 Thread Chris Schilling
Hey folks,

(Cross-posted to a number of mailing lists)

Last December, I sent out an invitation to
[[m:Grants:IdeaLab/Future_IdeaLab_Campaigns|help determine future ideaLab
campaigns]] by submitting and voting on different possible topics. I'm
happy to announce the results of your participation (<
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IdeaLab/Future_IdeaLab_Campaigns/Results>)
and encourage you to review them and our next steps for implementing those
campaigns this year. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to
participate, submit, and comment on campaign topics.

With great thanks,

Jethro

[Wiki-research-l] Research initiatives for future IdeaLab Campaigns?

2015-12-07 Thread Chris Schilling
Hi researchers,

I'm seeking your help in deciding on future IdeaLab campaigns. These
campaigns can generate novel proposals that could be eligible for grant
funding, and ultimately address needs in the projects to which you
contribute:

Topics focused on research have an important value across Wikimedia
projects. Personally, I've seen a lot of demand for research in
discussions around Wikimedia projects, and as a volunteer on en.wiki, I've
sometimes felt unequipped debating community, policy, and technical issues
without relevant empirical data to ground my thinking.

You can offer feedback and add your own campaign topics on potential
avenues for research through a survey conducted through AllOurIdeas <
http://www.allourideas.org/idealab_campaigns> in addition to participating
on the IdeaLab talk page.

I’m looking forward to seeing your feedback and exploring potential
directions we can take IdeaLab campaigns starting next year.

Take care,

Jethro

[Wiki-research-l] Feedback requested for research-oriented Individual Engagement Grant proposals!

2015-10-06 Thread Chris Schilling
Hey researchers,

Applicants for the current round of Individual Engagement Grants (IEG) have
submitted two proposals that are heavily devoted to research activities:

Editor Behaviour Analysis
 >
Aims to explore different ways to visualise general edit activity on a wiki

Ghana Editor Study
 > Study of
different Ghanaian Wikipedia editor groups to assess motivation

Applicants are seeking your feedback in these research initiatives. If one
of these ideas any of the other current proposals interests you, consider
reading it over, and feel free to endorse, express concerns, make
suggestions, and ask questions. Your input and expertise will help the
applicants develop better proposals, and support the IEG Committee during
their evaluation. Comments are requested until October 19th.

You are, of course, welcome to check out and comment on other IEG
applications for this round
.

With thanks,

Jethro
