https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18395 --- Comment #2 from Volodymyr papr...@gmail.com 2009-04-08 14:41:49 UTC --- Sure, (though its not clear to me why the need to split _read_ and _include_ permissions, it must be useful) the idea is still the same: replace $wgNonincludableNamespaces with a function call (which calls userCan hook). One could reuse $title-userCan('include'). I know the code suggested above works, but I haven't run any performance metrics on it. Bottom line, for me, I would like to see OOriented fix to the permissions all through the code, through userCan hook. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 18402] New: Deleted Redirects still showing up.
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18402 Summary: Deleted Redirects still showing up. Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.14.0 Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: Normal Component: Redirects AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: si.wiki...@gmail.com When a Page got moved MediaWiki automatically creates a redirect to the new target of the Page. Because usually Pages get moved for a reason the resulting Redirect is deleted immideately. The Issue is that the Redirect is still showing up after several hours and the Move Entry in RecentChanges aswell as in the MoveLog shows blue links for both the target Page (which is correct) AND the Original Location which got deleted already as the Deletion Entry is right above the move Entry in RC. Now to normal users checking the move log or RecentChanges it appears whoever moved the Page forgot to delete the redirect and tags it for deletion using some Javascript Tool which automatically starts editing, adds the code and saves the page to speed up the process. All because the Link was blue and the Page seemed to exist when they watched the page. Problem is that in fact the Page was well lets say semideleted. The tagging for deletion shows up as New page on RecentChanges. I dont know who got the idea of letting redirects still beeing shown after the page got deleted but it just shouldn't be. If a Page got moved and the redirect deleted its for a reason! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18173 --- Comment #3 from Phillip Hagerman phil...@hagermanstudios.com 2009-04-08 18:31:34 UTC --- Minor correction to the previous update: MW 1.10.0 only handles the Exception gracefully the first time you encounter it when requesting the login page, the data in the cookie causes the second exception and the puke of trace details when requesting any other page afterwards, until the browser cache is cleared. I further tested against 1.9.6 (which appears to be the last version prior to 1.10.0) and I did not get this exception at first. When I accessed the login page a second time (without logging in the first time) I get this exception: PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function getTalkPage() on a non-object in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wiki\includes\SkinTemplate.php on line 607 This prompted me to test again in 1.9.2 which was the version I started with, and I get the same behavior with this new exception. I'm beginning to think no version will work on this environment. Here are my testing environment details: Windows Server 2008 IIS Server 7 PHP Version 5.2.9-1 (IIS FastCGI) MySQL 5.0.26-community-nt I'm leaning towards an OS-level problem, because Server 2008 is almost the same at its core as Vista. FWIW, SULWatcher relies on CentralAuth's IRC feed, not RecentChanges, so it'd be unaffected. (In reply to comment #1) Indeed, http://techblog.wikimedia.org/2009/04/planning-to-tighten-torblock-restrictions/ mentions a rash of abuse ...in the form of account creations with abusive names. There would be little thrill if they didn't show up in recentchanges. If we're talking about the same thing, accounts are generally hidden within a minute - there would be no significant change in the trill level. [Bug 18403] New: Must differentiate 'specialpage(s)' in all languages
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18403 Summary: Must differentiate 'specialpage(s)' in all languages Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.15-svn Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Keywords: accessibility Severity: normal Priority: Normal Component: Internationalization AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: jida...@jidanni.org Created an attachment (id=6007) -- (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=6007) Test program that finds problem Messages*.php files pre Here we have a interesting accessibility problem that just leaps out at you if you 1. use a text browser or any non-CSS device -- and, 2. are a user of languages with a certain grammar mentioned below. The problem In English the familiar sidebar of any Special Page has Views • Special page Toolbox • Special pages But imagine if it said instead Views • Special page Toolbox • Special page You might say Of course, one is in 'Views' and one in 'Toolbox'! I don't see the problem. But try it out for a few years and you will see it is a usability disaster, no matter how near or far they are to each other there in the sidebar. For many languages, using the same translation for 'specialpage' and 'specialpages' is quite logical, as in their grammar plurals are the same as singulars -- in most situations, but not here, where extra emphasis very much needs to made that 'specialpages' should be All special pages, Special page groups... however you might express it, as long as it is different from the value of 'specialpage'. The test program Attached is a test program to find Messages*.php files with this accessibility problem. The output is batched into two groups, ranked by seriousness: 2. Bug Cdo... These are the language files that need to be corrected. 1. Ace Av ... These are also in danger, as they only have one of the strings, and could contribute to an identical pair somewhere else. Indeed, even the Qqq file defines 'specialpages', but not 'specialpage'. The two must carry reminders that they must be different in _all_ languages. To use this program, save this file to languages/messages/spfinder.txt and run $ perl spfinder.txt Messages*.php /pre -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 9767] Microsoft SQL Server/MSSQL support (tracking)
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9767 --- Comment #61 from D J Bauch dj.ba...@gmail.com 2009-04-09 03:09:32 UTC --- (In reply to comment #60) The patch (id 6005) seems to contains some strange modifications: * AutoLoader.php: where's the file? * Defines.php: this has nothing to do in core * Revision.php: don't comment that out, it's needed for PostgreSQL * SpecialShortpages.php, SpecialWantedcategories.php, SpecialWantedpages.php: why commenting out the link existence batch? * SpecialWantedtemplates.php: already fixed in r47618 * SpecialListfiles.php: already fixed in r48350 Yes, the modifications are strange in that they are not necessarily intended to replace the MySQL/PostgreSQL code in the trunk. They're only useful to someone trying to run on SQL Server. The file missing from autoloader.php is an attachment to the bug report (DatabaseADODB.php). It doesn't get picked up when I make the diff because it didn't exist before. The extra lines from my defines.php are for my extra namespaces and are optional. I'm assuming the commented out line you're referring to is the attempt to insert an ID in the text table. It won't work in my text table because the column is an auto-number column. I could make a view to eliminate this issue if necessary. The link existence batches don't work with the ADODB database adapter and not doing them didn't change the desired outcome. I may alter the ADODB database adapter to allow them to work at some time, but I don't own that code or have commit access on that project. Those last two already fixed issues were actually ones that I asked for but couldn't make myself (see comment #13 to this bug), since I don't have commit access. If I remember correctly, Tim Starling made the fixes back then. In addition to the patch file, you would need the tables.sql attachment above, the databaseadodb.php attachment above, and a patch to the ADODB library (which I could place here too, I suppose). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug.
