 It's kind of frustrating that
even some staff aren't aware of these plans. But that horse is pretty much
 dead at this point.
These plans took the form of a quick Can we do this? Yeah. But there's
caching. OK, let's talk to Danese and Erik first, then plan it in.
discussion split between late Thursday afternoon and early Friday morning. This
bug was filed early Tuesday morning. I'm not very surprised by the fact that
folks in the fundraising dept don't know about vague-ish plans we came up with
two (business) days ago that don't affect their work.

Hi Yaron,
i would be nice, if its possible to put the search box on the Special:RunQuery
Page from the Bottom to the Top of the Page. If you have long result sets it
would be more easy to edit the searchterms at the Top of the Page instead of
scrolling down to the Bottom. Every other search although have search
parameters at the top.

--- Comment #1 from ivan h...@abv.bg 2010-11-10 14:12:39 UTC ---
Is there a possibility to change the way a wikipedia page is printed. I would
really like to have more options - like print without images/text only, and
also to have the option to choose which sections from the content to print from
certain page. For example, there are some articles where the preferences are
over 10 pages, and sometimes i don't need them.

Thank you.

Tested on trunk, 1.16, 1.15 and 1.14 branches, the behavior is always the
 same:
no redirection. I don't see any regression here.

If it used to work and it doesn't work now, it apparently must be some
regression. The only question is, where - please mind my footnote in comment
#0.

What exactly did you test? Also please mind, that WMF runs a bit different
version of MediaWiki.

[Bug 25870] New: AntiSpoof not working?

2010-11-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon

   Summary: AntiSpoof not working?

  Severity: normal

 Component: AntiSpoof
AssignedTo: soxre...@gmail.com
ReportedBy: wmdf...@gmail.com
CC: platoni...@gmail.com

Dear developers,

In the mediawiki page Extension:Antispoof I can read that AntiSpoof is an
extension for preventing confusable usernames from being created; yet spoofed
usernames are still being created. Recent examples:

Legitimate user | Spoofed user

Laura Fiorucci | Låura Fiorucci

Lucien leGrey | Lucien le6rey

Poco a poco | Poco a ƿoco

Comae | Comæ

Sabbut | ЅаЬЬцт

BetoCG | ВетоС6

etc.

Those usernames above have been part of a recent impersonation campaign at
eswiki (all the accounts were created there and tryied to impersonate the above
named bureaucrats - see logs/SUL/etc.). Something should be done to prevent
this IMHO.

Regards.

[Bug 25269] Add support to embed commons videos in wikimedia blogs

2010-11-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25269

--- Comment #2 from Michael Dale d...@ucsc.edu 2010-11-10 16:01:24 UTC ---
I agree ;) .. The TimedMediaHandler adds support via custom display type to the
page url so it would be something similar to printable url parameter that
make the page only display the player.
iframe
src=http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Nice_People_Medium.ogv?iframeplayer=yes;/iframe

We can do away with the height width and just have the iframe take up 100% of
its window per some of the iframe proxy work I have done for kaltura side of
mwEmbed usage:
http://www.kaltura.org/apis/html5lib/kplayer-examples/Player_IFrameResizable.html

The iframe system is better and quickly replacing object since it supports a
cross domain messaging system for emulating video player api, can also work
without any hosting page js and can seamlessly switch between flash and html5
players ( important once Adobe ships vp8 / WebM in flash )
The industry is moving toward iframe embeds ie youtube
http://apiblog.youtube.com/2010/07/new-way-to-embed-youtube-videos.html and
others.

What I suggest in the mean time to support iframe embed is the following:

iframe
src=http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Nice_People_Medium.ogv?iframeplayer=yeswithJS=MediaWiki:MwEmbed.js;/iframe

We already have a lot of these withJS links floating around so once we and
update to the html5 player extension ( Timed media handler ) the gadget will
know to let the extension take over. At that point we can stop appending the js
url param, but if the withJS is included or not it the embed urls will remain
valid into the future.

If we need to change the url that hosts the mwEmbed javascript payloads we can
do that easily just by modifying the MediaWiki:MwEmbed.js page. For example
copying a static version to be hosted on cluster servers via mediawiki js page
( like other gadgets ).

I will support this, cautiously, but we need to keep an eye on the lower
browsers that we are sending JS to (like IE6 for instance).

[Bug 25863] Add RenameUser hook for SocialProfile

2010-11-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #1 from Jack Phoenix j...@countervandalism.net 2010-11-10

This is already mostly done, see SocialProfile.php
(http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/extensions/SocialProfile/SocialProfile.php?view=markup).
As I noted in the source code comments, for some reason the hooked function for
user_relationship table updates only half of the rows. I'd rather have that
fixed first and then uncomment these bits of code, but quite honestly I have no
idea whatsoever what's causing that behavior. I tried asking Werdna earlier
this year about what might be causing this (see
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Thread:User_talk:Werdna/SocialProfile,_RenameUser_and_RenameUserSQL_hook)
as he's the developer who added the RenameUserSQL hook into the RenameUser
extension, but he didn't have any idea either.

[Bug 25872] New: Fatal error when using Semantic Maps extension: Cannot redeclare class HttpRequest

2010-11-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25872

Summary: Fatal error when using Semantic Maps extension:
Cannot redeclare class HttpRequest
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: any
  Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: blocker
  Priority: Normal
 Component: SemanticMaps
AssignedTo: jeroen_ded...@yahoo.com
ReportedBy: corneelbooy...@hotmail.com

I have a public Wiki http://semanticstreams.com
that I am getting ready to use the Maps and Semantic Maps extension.

The Versions of software can be found here:
http://semanticstreams.com/wiki/index.php?title=Special:Version
(mediawiki 1.16, Maps and Semantic maps 0.7.2 rc1)

When I use the following syntax:
{{#display_point: coordinates=52.5234051,
13.4113999|zoom=7|height=400|type=hybrid}}
- the extension works as can be seen here:
http://semanticstreams.com/wiki/index.php?title=Berlin

But when I try to use this form:
{{#display_point:New York City}}

I am not even able to save the page but during the save process gets the
following error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class HttpRequest in
/home/semanti4/public_html/wiki/includes/HttpFunctions.php on line 122

Please advise how you would like to proceed with this.

Thanks.
Corneel Booysen.

Mediawiki isn't compatible the HTTP php extension (

HTTP extension installed, which you'll need to disable (This isn't a smw

[Bug 25720] substitute LOCALTIMESTAMP can differ from REVISIONTIMESTAMP

(In reply to comment #3)
Revision timestamp is the time the last revision was stored.
Localtimestamp is the time the page was last parsed.
If one purges the page (action=purge) afaik the localtimestamp will be updated
(among othere things), but revisiontimestamp will stay the same.

The different in this bug is, that the timestamp get substituted and so the
real time goes into the wikitext and purge has no effect.

Currently the only way to filter by tag is by typing it in the input field.
However this isn't very user friendly.

Wether it should become the default or not is a question but I do believe it
would make a good option.

[Bug 25861] Formerly well working #ask queries do not work after update

--- Comment #1 from Markus Krötzsch mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org 2010-11-10
19:29:15 UTC ---
What I notice when looking at the page Infantil is that it is completely
blank, even though it contains normal wiki text that should be shown in any
case. There seems to be a problem that is not just about SMW queries here. You
should try to remove the query template and check if this actually changes
something. And (if the template is still suspected to be the cause of the
problem) you should experiment by using the template with a fixed pagename
instead of {{PAGENAME}} (does the Infantil page work if you use Primaria as a
page name?). Otherwise, you may also try and remove some of the other text or
templates and see when the rest of the text re-appears.

Another way of debugging such problems is to de-activate extensions in
LocalSettings.php and see what happens. This can help to find out which of your
installed extensions causes the problem (if any).

Got a report which I can confirm for a little problem with SimpleSearch used
under Opera Mobile/Android its relatives. (Opera Mobile -- not Mini!)

Pull up a page on en.wikipedia.org or ja.wikipedia.org and switch back to
desktop view.

Tap into the search box to trigger text input. Type some stuff, then hit the
'done' button or click outside the field to close it. You should now see the
popup menu with typeahead options come up.

Clicking the magnifying glass button in the search field currently does two
things:
1) focus the search field
2) submit the form

This focusing appears to be problematic in Opera Mobile as it triggers text
input mode, which can cause the input method / on-screen keyboard to display.
This is very visibly disruptive with the regular Android keyboard in landscape
mode (where it takes over the whole screen), and apparently is also quite nasty
with Japanese input methods.

It looks like just taking out the focus call should get it working. Is the
focus there needed?

True, though don't most of the people currently doing buttons for those in a
custom way try to add new buttons rather than replace the MediaWiki powered by?

Shouldn't we also try standardizing a newer button list (copyright, powered by,
hosted by, extension powered [just for smw like large exts], etc...) which is
supported by skins that have specifically coded support for it and can support
more than just two buttons?

Such features are usually the job of the printer driver and Print setup dialog.
Doing it in JS + html/css is next to impossible and at the very least will have

Hmmm, it is most definitely the job of the print driver, but I don't think its
impossible for us to do with js/css, at least not for the things he requested -
for example, no images could be done with a print stylesheet that sets img
{display: none}.

hmm, this problem is wider however. The name of Special pages is nowhere
enforced to use the dbkey form. Perhaps we should fix uses of

Mediawiki isn't compatible the HTTP php extension (
http://ca3.php.net/manual/en/intro.http.php ) . It sounds like you have the
HTTP extension installed, which you'll need to disable (This isn't a smw
 issue).

We should probably just rename our class to not conflict with a known PHP
interface :)

The conflict is between MediaWiki and a PHP extension (not a MediaWiki

have the canonical URL meta tag on all (content) pages, which wouldn't hurt

[Bug 25870] AntiSpoof not working?

2010-11-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #1 from Platonides platoni...@gmail.com 2010-11-10 23:40:03 UTC
---
The Låura Fiorucci spoof should have been blocked by the extension (check in
r76483)

The others weren't caught by the extension. I updated the list in [1].

Only the æ spoof remains active, since it would need converting one character
into two. There exists a function (mergePairs) for converting two codepoints
into one, but doesn't seem to exist any easy way for splitting one codepoint
into two (everything is done in term of codepoints there).

Note that [2] added a rule for changing Æ and æ to A. I think that at least æ
should map to ae. Æ is quite similar to just A, though.

Once that's fixed, the extension at WMF should be updated and the mappings
rebuilt.

I don't feel this is a good place to do it.

The use case itself is a bit convoluted. The user name cannot be autocreated,
but it can login if the global account exists. I think it would be easier to
deny that user attaching global account. I don't think AuthPlugin::autoCreate()
is the appropiate place for checking per-wiki autocreation policies.

I'm just saying that there should be something saying why this won't
work in some browsers (text browsers), visible there to a person about to click
this preference.

You could even hide that something in some CSS so it will only be
visible in those browsers affected.

I am very opposed to using a pop-up. If we are talking about changing how the
feature works rather than just what color the box is, I think we really need
 to
do away with the box and add styling to the my talk link in the user tools.
If liquid threads is enabled this link shows how many unread messages exist -
we can follow along those lines by at least using that area of the screen to
indicate there are some unread messages.

The CologneBlue skin had the you have new messages kind of as a line by the my
talk link. It was much prettier than the monobook way, but I almost never
noticed it (and I'm an experienced user, I assume newbies would notice it less
then me).

The GET request that the 1-step makes to Special:ContributionTracking is
passing the currency as currency instead of currency_code. Changing it to
currency_code should fix the problem.

I'm glad to say that, two and a half years later, :) this bug is now fixed, due
to the improved Javascript handling added in SF v2.0.2.
