A new pseudo-driver DatabaseBz2 can be configured as either the primary or the fallback data source. However, a mediawiki bug (or my error) is preventing the retrieved article from being displayed when this extension is set as the secondary, and the primary db cannot open a connection. Strange. The workaround is to change the db insertion at the end of Offline.php from $wgDBservers[] = array( to a replacement: $wgDBservers[0] = array( Have fun! -Adam -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. I think loading site common.js after gadgets is better. Loading user scripts and gadets before site common.js is best. I want to detect witch gadgets and/or user setteings in site common.js. Jimmy's oder makes this detection impossible. On the other hand, hooking gadget's real code by site common.js is not so difficult even in the current order. Gadget A: var gadget_a_enable = true; Gadget B: function gadget_b_hook () { // whatever you want } if(typeof commonHook == 'undefined'){ commonHook = new Array(); } commonHook[commonHook.length] = gadget_b_hook; site commn.js ([[MediaWiki:Common.js]]): if(typeof gadget_a_enable != 'undefined' gadget_a_enable){ // ... if Gadget A is enable... }else{ // ... if Gadget A is disable ... } if(typeof commonHook != 'undefined'){ for(var i = 0; i commonHook.length; i++){ commonHook[i](); } } I think, anyone can say But, even in Jimmy's oder, detection gadgets in 'real' code of common.js is not so diffcult too: Gadget A: var gadget_a_enable = true; site commn.js ([[MediaWiki:Common.js]]): $(document).ready(function ($){ if(typeof gadget_a_enable != 'undefined' gadget_a_enable){ // ... whatevet I want ... } }); But I need to say, $(document).ready somtime makes waiting for long time. I tried that link, but it auto-morphed to http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Especial:MyCSS/common.css and told me in Espanol that the special page doesn't exist. I tried changing es to en, but it just did the same thing and told me in English that the special page does not exist. My fault. The link should have been http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MyPage/common.css There's a godsend! One of my editing challenges was to have to change to the monobook skin (now vector skin) with some of my edits to make sure they looked okay in the general-user skin. Now I can edit in vector. The first code yields white top and left margins, while the second code spreads the pastel green to the TOP, while the left margin becomes a bright, emerald green. It'll take a little gettin' used to, but I think I can live with that. [Bug 23433] Load site js before gadgets
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23433 --- Comment #2 from Michael Dale d...@ucsc.edu 2011-02-21 15:16:15 UTC --- The way I address this in mwEmbed is through a series of bind and triggers which give you both temporal loading flexibility and fine grain extendability of components. Bind and triggers are a pefered way for javascript to extend and interact it offers features like ( name spacing, binding undefined target names, and with utility functions like triggerQueueCallback, blocking triggers. http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/trunk/extensions/MwEmbedSupport/MwEmbedModules/MwEmbedSupport/jquery/jquery.triggerQueueCallback.js All the code that is loaded on every page is loader code. These loaders define interface entry points and setup up global bindings. For example see how timedText extends the embedPlayer interface : http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/trunk/extensions/TimedMediaHandler/MwEmbedModules/TimedText/TimedText.loader.js and the mwEmbed loader: http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/trunk/extensions/TimedMediaHandler/MwEmbedModules/EmbedPlayer/EmbedPlayer.loader.js Hopefully the example is not too specific to the video player context. The basic point is we should have defined points of extending things so the order in which things are loaded does not matter as much ( as long as all the loader / binding code is loaded before the page ready or SetupInterfaces event is fired. And all the triggers happen after page ready $(document).ready should NOT mean waiting for a long time. It is fired once the dom is ready not all the images in the page are loaded. A SetupInterfaces and IntefacesReady event could also be used but in practice it happens almost the same time as DOM ready ( since you want to give every loaded javascript a chance to bind to that event before you trigger it ) ... So if you don't need more complicated interface state control $(document).ready works just as well. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

Why did it decrease? The pages with '#yünältü' are not detect as redirects by MediaWiki (due the software update). That is why there were broken and the edits from the bot are detect as a change from article ('#yünältü') to a redirect ('#REDIRECT') and MediaWiki decrease the article counter by 1 for each edit. Sorry for that :) This one is so devious that even Douglas Crockford's JSMin falls for it :O Right, JSMin makes a fair amount of assumptions about the code that it will minify. I'm interested. I'm also willing to port it to PHP myself if you give me the C code and release it under a free license. Well, usually it's easier to port code that you wrote yourself, so I went ahead and made the attached patch. It seems, that even in php, its performance is quite good, in most tested cases it was about the same speed or slightly faster than JavascriptDistiller. For now I removed $wgResourceLoaderMinifyJSVerticalSpace. As the new minifier knows when semicolon insertion will be triggered, it can safely put everything on a single line. For readability it may be considered to add a few newlines, though, maybe before each function? I left JavaScriptDistiller.php in place to ease comparing and testing. I also added a few test cases in tests/phpunit/includes/libs/JavaScriptMinifierTest.php, probably need a few more, though. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[1] by invalid I mean one or more of the following is true: * not well-formed XML (ie, any error is thrown by XML parser) * not well-formed namespaces (ie, an error is thrown by namespace-aware XML parser about inconsistent or undeclared namespaces) * root element isn't svg with expected namespace * anything in the file violates our generic or SVG-specific safety checks Non-rendering of broken files is not a bug; it's expected behavior. Affected files should be fixed. New files being uploaded that do not pass the validation checks *is* a bug, if it's happening. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27620 Summary: Edit toolbar loads siginficiantly slower with the Resource loader or BannerLoader Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.17 Platform: PC URL: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/no-page-here?action=edit OS/Version: Windows 7 Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: Normal Component: Resource Loader AssignedTo: tpars...@wikimedia.org ReportedBy: e...@wp.pl CC: roan.katt...@gmail.com Steps: 1. Open an example page (I'm using pl.wiki because you can't edit a page on en.wiki while not logged in) 2. Reload the page (normal reload). Results: Page loads significantly slower then with 1.16. Expected results: Should load faster (as RL is on now). This is more significant in Firefox 3.6 then in 4.0 or in Opera 11, but I can still start editing before the page is loaded and only when the page is loaded the toolbar loads. This causes loose of focus and cursor position. The page loads for about 6-9 seconds (as measured by Firebug) and there are 2-3 gaps in a net tab before loading the following resources: http://pl.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Api.jsaction=rawctype=text/javascript http://pl.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Specjalna:BannerListLoadercache=/cn.jslanguage=plproject=wikipediacountry=PL http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:BannerLoaderbanner=WMPL_Wikimedia_Polska_Conferenceuserlang=pldb=plwikisitename=Wikipediacountry=PL So the problem might be BannerLoader related (api usually loads faster). The server seems to always respond with 200 rather then 304 for those two. Not sure why it is needed (if it is). JS should be loaded just once and some random banner should be loaded but the response for the loaded banner should always be 304. It could still mask a user with the same name but different host, but manually performing queries to mysql.user doesn't look nice (we should at least skip any error on doing so). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 27620] Edit toolbar loads siginficiantly slower with the Resource loader or BannerLoader
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27620 --- Comment #1 from Nux e...@wp.pl 2011-02-21 22:15:55 UTC --- BTW wouldn't it be faster to have all banner on a statical page loaded (refreshed e.g. twice a week) and just pick a random one from the list (filtering the list with JS for current user)? The banners seems short enough. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 27622] New: Setup internal wikis as https only
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27622 Summary: Setup internal wikis as https only Product: Wikimedia Version: unspecified Platform: All URL: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.science.linguistics.wiki pedia.technical/52317 OS/Version: All Status: NEW Keywords: shell Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: General/Unknown AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: platoni...@gmail.com CC: rlan...@gmail.com From wikitech-l thread: Private wikis should require HTTPS by default. Roughly this would need; * Setup a server for this role and give it an external ip. * Configure to answer https: with the star certificate and then perform the normal wiki routing. * Redirect http to https. * Change usage of bits load.php to the local one (avoid mixed content warnings and protect against active attackers). * Change the dns records to the new ip. * Profit! No need for caching layer in front of it, as anonymous users can't read it. If there were, $wgCookieSecure may need to be manually set. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 27544] SVG images that are invalid XML no longer rendered
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27544 Aryeh Gregor simetrical+wikib...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||Simetrical+wikibugs@gmail.c ||om --- Comment #22 from Aryeh Gregor simetrical+wikib...@gmail.com 2011-02-21 23:46:25 UTC --- Although maybe we should define a subset of SVG using our own DTD, excluding script elements and attributes, and test for validity using that DTD. That would be a very easy way to do whitelist-based security, which makes me feel happier than the current blacklist-based approach. Are we really sure that all JS-activating attributes start with on, and that no element will allow script if it's not named script?
