Bug #: 29730
 Summary: Add checkbox on User Contributions for "Only show
edits that are NOT latest revisions"
 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: unspecified
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal

Component: Special pages
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: jason_qu...@yahoo.com
Classification: Unclassified

The User contributions tab has a checkbox that shows your contributions that
are the latest revisions of articles. It would be desirable to have the
opposite search possible.

It is common for an edit to a page to prompt other users into making edits. I
often find myself curious what they've done.

--- Comment #4 from Robin Pepermans (SPQRobin)

However, a strange thing occurs.. When loading the special page with certain
RTL languages, it fails to load anything.. The languages are Yiddish (yi),
Arabic (ar) and maybe more. For example Farsi (fa), Hebrew (he) and Urdu (ur)
work.

E.g. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard?uselang=ar fails to
load for me (on trunk on my localhost as well).

Krinkle, I'm really sorry, but I had to reset all your changes. Search function
still wasn't working properly and our template "Vorlage:Titel" is very
important because it affects nearly all articles. Perhaps a solution could be
found without "damaging" that template? Kind regards.

Issue 0 is fixed in trunk. Issue 3 depended on that (the direction for RTL
languages was LTR, causing the text to think it should align the $1 at the
other end... a usual issue for bi-directional stuff).

The only issue left in trunk are the arrows at the top (issue 1).

For ease, I'm closing this bug off now

Feel free to reopen/open a new one when Chad and I have pushed trunk CR out to

OR, put trunk CR on your dev box, poke around and tell me if there's something

It would be nice to be able to search by multiple filters (e.g. by author *and*
in a certain path) using the interface. It is possible, but only by manually
editing the URL.

E.g. when going to Special:Code/author/name, then entering a path, does not
remember the author, but you can add it to the URL.

[Bug 29728] New: Translate: matching message shows completely different text

2011-07-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29728

 Web browser: ---
Bug #: 29728
 Summary: Translate: matching message shows completely different
text
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Translate
AssignedTo: niklas.laxst...@gmail.com
ReportedBy: robinp.1...@gmail.com

Classification: Unclassified

Putting this thread on Bugzilla:
http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Thread:Support/Strange_%22matching%22_suggestion_while_editing_Wikia:Editpagelayout-helpLink-url/nl

When editing message X, I see a certain text from message Y as 100% matching
text, while message Y actually says something different (which is the actual
matching text). So Y really is a 100% matching text of X, but it just displays
something completely different.

See for example
http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Wikia:Editpagelayout-helpLink-url/nl?action=edit
which suggests "Identificatie toevoegen" while it should be "Help:Bewerken".

This bug appears sometimes, but it seems to be always on certain messages and
does not seem to go away or come back randomly.

[Bug 22911] Default "sort key" for namespaces should be more customizable

2011-07-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22911

--- Comment #6 from Bawolff 2011-07-06 01:03:09 UTC ---
Ok, a hook was added in MediaWiki 1.19 (see bug 29680 and r91510), which means
this is easily do-able with a 4 line extension.

Is there still concensuss for this? and what is the exact algorithm wanted
here. The mediawiki namespace message thing is unlikely to happen, because
that'd require some extra coding to make all the pages re-sort themselves
whenever anyone edited it (do-able, but unless people are super attached to the
idea I don't really plan to code that atm).

However, It'd be very easy at this point to say: Sort by subpage by default for
anything in main namespace, otherwise sort by pagename. Or sort by subpage for
any namespace with subpages enabled, or just strip the stuff before the first
/, etc. Anyways, what exactly is the algorithm wanted?

(As another note, currently the hook is in 1.19 which is still a while away
from reaching Wikimedia wikis. If people really really want this feature, it
might be possible to backport the hook since its such a small change, I'm not
really sure how that normally works)

Added a hook in r91510 (MW 1.19)

Subfader: To change the sort order to do what you want, add something like the
following to the bottom of LocalSettings.php:

function wfFixSortorder( $title, &$sortkey ) {
$sortkey = $title->getPrefixedText();
return true;
}
$wgHooks['GetDefaultSortkey'][] = 'wfFixSortorder';

On some pages in *WebKit-browsers*, such as :
http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Mdupont&oldid=56180692

... all js-messages are broken (, etc.).
However they are loaded fine and in mw.messages.

The problem is caused by .exists() returning false incorrectly.
Map.prototype.exists (1.17wmf1):
function ( selection ) {
if ( typeof keys === 'object' ) {
for ( var s = 0; s < selection.length; s++ ) {
if ( !( selection[s] in this.values ) ) {
return false;
}
}
return true;
} else {
return selection in this.values;
}
}

It incorrectly refers to "keys" instead of "selection" so it will fail for
multi-message calls which pass an object. But single-message calls (99.9% of
cases) should still work fine, and usually they do.

However on the linked Commons-page even single messages are failing.
> Google Chrome: http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?oldid=56180692
> mw.msg('showtoc')
>

Root cause ? Obviously the root cause is the function checking the wrong
variable, but single-message calls should work fine (which was the reason the
fixing part of r80572 wasn't backported, core nor any extension used it).

But on this page there is a ( == Keys == ), and in WebKit
browsers references to elements by ID are in the window object / global
namespace.
so window.keys === (an object, instance of Element).

All this weirdness was fixed as part of r80572. Although initially not
considered worth a backport, I think we should consider and actually backport
to 1.17 and 1.17wmf1 as currently:
* requesting multiple messages in any browser
* requesting single messages in Chrome on some pages

.. does not work and results in breakages of all messages on the page.

I actually originally wanted all the CR forms to commit changes immediately via
AJAX but never got round to doing the ajax submissions or updates. ;)

For now, I agree it's probably best to make sure those subforms are integrated
into the whole form which operates on a 'change a bunch of stuff and commit
when done' model.

It wouldn't be bad to do this once, though. We have some errors since years
ago, e.g. bug 24480.

Currently, if I inspect the code of a revision and also want to make a comment
about it, I will need to submit the page two times.

I think if the user post a comment and has marked one of the sign-offs this
data should also be submited (saving one page load).

[Bug 29680] Cannot sort pages of different namespaces properly on category pages

2011-07-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29680

--- Comment #9 from Aryeh Gregor 2011-07-05

(In reply to comment #5)
> You're not playing fair here. I gace reasons above. My article links using
> icons globally and 2 columns instead of 3 are no category based hacks and not
> related to this bug report...

They are related. Your categories aren't broken up into sections according to
first letter. If they were, then you'd have one section per category for
categories that consist only of non-main space pages. This is as I explained.

For instance, look at this category:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:User_he-1

It consists entirely of User: pages. It's automatically split up into sections
based on the first letter of the page name. Formerly, unless users overrode
the sortkey on every single page, every page in the category would be under "U"
for "User:". This is bad, and people were forced to work around it by manually
overriding millions of sortkeys.

This isn't a problem for you, but only because you hacked the software to not
show the letters for the sections. If you hadn't hacked the software, the
change would have benefited you too.

> Really? No way I will do this. That's not a solution.
> I have over 16,000 categories and I won't{{#defaultsort:{{PAGENAME to them
> and tell my users to add this for no reason in the future.

I'm telling you that when it *didn't* work this way, everyone on Wikipedia
*did* have to add or similar to millions of pages. That's
why I changed it. We're not going to change it back and cause more work for
everyone on Wikipedia to save work for you. We also shouldn't add a preference
for something where the only reason you'd want to change it is if you hacked
MediaWiki, IMO.

> Instead, I now ask where the advantage is in sorting the namespace letter?

I already told you in comment #4, but maybe my explanation here is clearer.

(In reply to comment #7)
> I propose adding a hook to Title::getCategorySortkey so that people can
> override the $unprefixed = $this->getText() line. This would address both this
> and bug 22911. The only downside to this is that whenever changing the
> algorithm used by the hook or enabling/disabling one would have to run
> updateCollation.php --force . Any thoughts?

That sounds reasonable to me. The Wikibooks use-case makes sense, and this
seems like a good way to address it. Subfader could also use the hook if he
wanted.

Example

Currently, if a user calls mw.util.wikiGetlink()[1] on Example it will be
returned
"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/undefined";
which is not very useful.

Considering that it is common[2] to have constructs like
mw.util.wikiGetlink( mw.config.get( 'wgPageName' ) ) + '?foo=bar&baz=meh'
I propose the addition of wgPageName as a default value for the "str" parameter
of this function, so that users coudl then use mw.util.wikiGetlink() on
Example to get
"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Example";

Dan, can you check what the page_touched values for these rows in the page
table are?

Normally this should carry a timestamp, which in MediaWiki on MySQL is stored
as a 14-character string (MMDDHHMMSS). Null or empty *should* end up
formatting the current time, though there may be some bad values or such.

The bug in action on Wikimedia Commons

Compare the date/time in the top window and the bottom window. The latter one
doesn't use the user preference (GMT +2) but UTC.

Changing summary to reflect the request. (it was interpretable both ways..)

Additional info:
The date and time displayed on the Special:AbuseFilter/history ("Recent filter
changes") page in the "Time" column is correct. But the date/time on top of
the actual diff is wrong.

See screenshot for details.

The DISPLAYTITLE thing is a separate issue, I just brought it up in case
someone had a quick fix to it. But the actual reason I reopened this is because
the search function still isn't working.

Working patch (remove spaces only)

This patch should do the trick. Obviously, any level of "normalisation" is
possible - it's a trade off between readability/clashes/potentially breaking
the anchor. I've opted for low level normalisation - only spaces, hashes and
hyphens.

The JavaScript-disabled version is unaffected. Tested in latest FF, IE and
Chrome; any-which-way it's a simple patch.

[Bug 29722] New: WikiLove should follow redirects

2011-07-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29722

 Web browser: ---
Bug #: 29722
 Summary: WikiLove should follow redirects
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: WikiLove
AssignedTo: rkald...@wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: krinklem...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified

Reported on mediawiki.org:

--

Source:
http://mediawiki.org/wiki/Thread:Talk:WikiLove/WikiLove_templates_do_not_obey_redirect_syntax
From: TeleComNasSprVen
Date: 15:09, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Report summary:

If User_talk:Foo redirects to User_talk:Bar, WikiLove templates and messages
are still automatically deployed directly underneath the #REDIRECT
User_talk:Bar string, which can give a headache for trying to show wikilove
to recently renamed users and cluttering up Special:WhatLinksHere, among other
issues.

[Bug 29673] allow central interwiki table

--- Comment #3 from Umherirrender 2011-07-05

bug 11423 is over storing the interwiki from pages in a central database, not
for the interwiki prefixes of the wiki.

(interwiki table vs. langlinks table).

(In reply to comment #8)
> It seems that the magic word DISPLAYTITLE doesn't work on alswikipedia.org.

DISPLAYTITLE works fine. Note that Wikipedia has a restriction on DISPLAYTITLE:
It must match the actual title when decoding it. So one can't display
"Hùùnibùg" on "Honigbuck" or vice versa.

But using DISPLAYTITLE:eBay on article "EBay" (notice the lower-case e) will
work fine.

Anyway, if there are issues with it still, please open a seperate bug.
