--- Comment #20 from DaSch da...@daschmedia.de 2011-09-13 06:58:00 UTC ---
Therfore I added this
(In reply to comment #12)
To avoid that DatabaseLogEntry::getParameters() return a string instead of an
array I added this before the return
if ( is_string($this-params) ) {
$paramString = $this-params;
$this-params = array();
$this-params[0] = $paramString;
}
The warning disappears but the error remains
so somehow even if the array exists how it should the target page still is not
added correctly

There can not be an array returend because the blob in the database is only a
string

That function must always return an array. It should go through the legacy =
true path, which uses explode( '\n' ) to make an array of the string. However,
in this case it is taking one of the two other parts - why - that doesn't make
any sense to me. That's why I'd like to know a) which path it is b) what is the
value of $params when that path is taken.

Created attachment 9055

Patch to fix the problem. Should be tested.

Replace next now replaces the currently selected text instead of finding the
next occurrence and replacing it.

To keep the location of the current occurrence, i added matchIndex to
$(this).data.

I added some comments renamed a couple of variable for readability:
* s to textRemainder
* replace to actualReplacement

This is my first significant jQuery-style patch so it may have embarrassing
mistakes - constructive criticism is welcome.

I have an other description for the || Disjunction bug.

Consider the two property : Title , Author

We search all page containing Title tag : 'foo' made by Author : 'Luc' or
'Alex'

 Title::~*foo*|Alex
and
 |AlexTitle::~*foo*

Do not give the same results, we expect those two being equivalent, such as :

 [[Title::~*foo*]Author::Luc
 OR
 [[Title::~*foo*]Author::Alex

The Query :

|AlexTitle::~*foo*

does exactly this :

Author::Luc OR Author::AlexTitle::~*foo*

The invert is also true :

|LucTitle::~*foo*

does :

Author::Alex OR Author::LucTitle::~*foo*

The Query:

 Title::~*foo*|Alex

Gives results correctly.

The point is that the real problem occures at the end. When Title::newFromText

[Bug 30883] New: Internal links with URL-encoded square brackets are not parsed into wiki links

2011-09-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30883

 Web browser: ---
Bug #: 30883
 Summary: Internal links with URL-encoded square brackets are
not parsed into wiki links
 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: 1.17
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: major
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Parser
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: fastgoldf...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified

URL-encoded square brackets in an internal link are not correctly parsed into a
link. External links ARE correctly parsed.

These work, and are correctly parsed into external links:

These work, and are correctly parsed into internal links:

SomePage?q=someParameter

These do NOT work, and not parsed into internal links:

SomePage?q=%5BsomeParameter%3A

SomePage?q=%5B%5BsomeParameter%3A%3A

The only ones that do not work are internal links with URL-encoded square
brackets. The culprits are the left bracket [ encoded as %5B and the right
bracket encoded as %3A.

It does not seem to matter how many, in what order, etc. If %5B or %3A exist in
the internal link URL, the link will not be parsed into an internal wiki link.
The problem does not occur for external links.

I marked this bug as major, but not critical, because the bug can be worked
around by changing internal links to external links (with the full URL) until
the bug is fixed. However, since only a few of the most proactive site
administrators are likely to read this bug report, this should be considered a
critical bug for ordinary MediaWiki users, and casual administrators that don't
read bug reports.

[Bug 30883] Internal links with URL-encoded square brackets are not parsed into wiki links

2011-09-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30883

--- Comment #1 from fastgoldf...@gmail.com 2011-09-13 17:36:08 UTC ---
Whoops, %3A should be %5D.

Also, I found a link that seems to be employing a workaround, but I haven't
figured it out yet to get it to work on my own test wiki:

query for all persons on semanticweb.org

From here:

http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Semantic_search

The URL uses hyphens in place of % for problematic characters. It is an
external link, but maybe it would work as an internal link. It's a clue I'll
follow to see if there's a better workaround (for site admins), so I'll keep
testing.

Accidentally, but finally I found the cause of this bug which made me sad for
quite some time now: suhosin.get.max_value_length was at 512. After I increased
the value to 1024 it works fine. Thanks go to MW 1.17. and ResourceLoader v1.
Otherwise I would never have noticed.

I will introduce a hint on semantic-mediawiki.org. This might be a bit
redundant since it is the recommended value for MW 1.17. but ...

[ and ] are not allowed characters in MediaWiki page titles; escaping them in
the link doesn't actually turn them valid.

Note also that ? and are valid title characters -- so eg SomePage?q=foo
links to a page called SomePage?q=foo -- it does not link to a page
SomePage with query parameters added to the URL.

[Bug 30877] Deleting an UploadCampaign probably shouldn't be an API method

Per kitchen discussion, we're provisionally agreeing to mark the API method as
'provisional' or otherwise 'not fully stable' in its documentation that appears
in API help.

Cleaning it up further and making the add/edit available through API as well in
future would be nice at some point, but we don't have as much hurry as long as
what's there is marked as incomplete so people know not to rely on it.

We should also consider adding an explicit 'stability level' marker in the API
help?

There are many reasons why an internal URL will have URL encoded brackets that
don't involve a page being titled with brackets. The example I already gave
shows this in parameters (that are passed to an extension, probably).

It sounds like this functionality has been deliberately blocked, and there's no
good reason for it. MediaWiki apparently has no problem with brackets in
parameters, so there's no reason to block it in internal links.

From the mobile feedback page: As a user who looks up multiple (often 10 to
15) in a single sitting, I find it cumbersome and time-consuming to have to
delete my previous query by manually hitting backspace for its length. Instead,
I'd like to see implemented a button I can press which would clear the search
field, thus reducing time spent searching and increasing time spent reading
articles. As an example, consider the cross button inside the search bar of
Google's default mobile page.

r86962 has been provisionally reverted as there are no tests or even ad-hoc
examples of what needs to be tested along with the commit.

Spacing in the HTML output *should* be testable in the parser test cases
(mathParserTests.txt) but it might need a tweak to adjust the user math
rendering preferences for HTML tests.

Looks like this only describes HTML spacing, not the tex output spacing (which
is of course harder to compare in an automated way).

r86962 has been provisionally reverted pending test cases.

It should be straightforward to add a parser test case to confirm that \sen x,
\sen{x}, \sen(x) work.

Not sure about confirming the output spacing on \operatorname{sen} x - but I
think it'll make a difference to output hash, and therefore the rendered PNG
image filename -- which will turn up on parser test output. So that should be
able to protect against regression.

[Bug 30888] New: TestSwarm routinely halts in browsers due to temporary errors

Bug #: 30888
 Summary: TestSwarm routinely halts in browsers due to temporary
errors
 Product: Wikimedia
 Version: unspecified
 Platform: All
 URL: http://toolserver.org/~krinkle/testswarm/?state=runus
er=xyz
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Keywords: upstream
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Testing Infrastructure
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: br...@wikimedia.org
Classification: Unclassified

A running TestSwarm browser client seems to fairly routinely encounter
unrecoverable errors when reloading its page. Most common I've seen have been:

No input file found

Bad gateway from the web server / cache frontend

After a weekend for instance, usually I'll have several browsers down;
sometimes it'll happen a couple times in a day too.

Since the result is that none of the web page or scripts get loaded, it's
unable to automatically retry -- someone has to come along and manually hit
'reload' on the browser.

If instead of reloading the entire page, it reloaded an iframe or loaded data
over ajax, the surrounding page context would be able to just try again after a
bit without manual intervention.

Is the single quote the only relevant character here? I notice that double
quotes also don't work; indeed there seems to be a very large set of things
that don't work. What limitations should actually be applied, and what is/isn't
legal in here?

device: Blackberry Bold 9000
operating system: v5.0.0.592
browser: Internet Browser (default Blackberry browser)
Javascript support: selected or not, doesn't matter
browser identification: Blackberry
default view: Column or Page, doesn't matter

How to replicate: Go to an article with several sections, e.g.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libya. You're taken instead to
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libya. Scroll down to the 2nd section
History and click the Show button. A random page is loaded, e.g. Bob
Myrick, or when going back and clicking Show again: Road safety audit.

What should happen instead: the section is shown when clicking the Show
button.

Workaround 1: The sections aren't hidden when the browser identification is set
to Firefox, but not everyone may know how to set that, and if done it leads to
logs showing more Firefox readers and less Blackberry readers, suggesting that
not enough people are using Blackberries to read the site and it's therefor not
worth fixing for them.

Workaround 2: At the bottom, the link to View this page on regular Wikipedia
shows all the information in all the sections.

I'm from South Africa, part of the global south.

Reapplied with a slight tweak and parser test cases in r97007.

I went ahead and changed \euro to let it render straight through to
conservative HTML output (so eg math\euro 200/math renders out as
#8364;200 in output, nice and clean!)

Note that the commit includes tweaks to HTML output of a few other characters,
which seem to be legit. These aren't included in the test cases as they don't
change what's supported.

I send an e-mail to the list and got a bounce mail back that I needed to be
approved. So I wrote to both the admins of the list. One of them we can't reach
at all for the past 45 days (he also participated in
http://www.wikilovesmonuments.be ), not by email, not on his talk page on his
home wiki. The other I emailed and said he had lost his emailaddress and lost
his passwords and can't log in any more. He requested that I should ask for
shutting down the list and assign the list to me. We as Belgian community would
like to use the list to set up the chapter so we hope it is possible to get
access.

Thanks! Romaine

ArticleFeedback is an experimental feature created by the Wikimedia Foundation
as part of the mw: New Editor Engagement program. It's still up to undergo
some more changes, based on the feedback and the results of it.

It is not a priority to make a previous version of a concept that is still
under development compatible with 1.17. Once AFT is ready (ie. 1.0), we could
decide to backport it to whatever is the latest release version at that moment
if it does not work with that version already. But requesting 1.17
compatibility at this time sounds like a bad idea.

Marking WONTFIX.

ArticleFeedback is an experimental feature created by the Wikimedia Foundation
as part of the mw: New Editor Engagement program. It's still up to undergo
some more changes, based on the feedback and the results of it.

The code should be adaptable to other MediaWiki installations, just like nearly
any other MediaWiki extension.

I don't see how priorities are relevant here. It may not be a priority to
Wikimedia or to you, but that doesn't make the bug invalid. There are branches
for a reason. Having a branched version of the extension that works with _the
current version of MediaWiki_ doesn't seem like an unreasonable request.

Marking WONTFIX.

Re-opening, per the above.

 ArticleFeedback is an experimental feature created by the Wikimedia
 Foundation
 as part of the mw: New Editor Engagement program. It's still up to
 undergo
 some more changes, based on the feedback and the results of it.

The code should be adaptable to other MediaWiki installations, just like
nearly
any other MediaWiki extension.

It is. It doesn't contain anything Wikimedia specific as far as I know.

There are branches
for a reason. Having a branched version of the extension that works with _the
current version of MediaWiki_ doesn't seem like an unreasonable request.

Indeed. If it was developed in trunk/extensions to work against trunk/phase3,
to be deployed when that mediawiki version is reviewed and released. then it
would make sense.

However it was developed in trunk to work on 1.17wmf1 which is a little further
ahead. The branched code for ArticleFeedback in REL1_18 should work with 1.18.
The code in trunk should work in trunk MediaWiki 1.19. However the code that
was branched into 1.17 was never intended to work in 1.17.

If the problems a minor, someone interested could fix the problems in the 1_17
branch. But if it's broken beyond simple patches, we might as well remove it
from REL1_17, which makes this bug redundant.

We actually had links back to mediawiki.org code review at some point.
Presumably they got lost when the svn server was re-installed or when ViewVC
was upgraded.

Tickets like bug 23177 confirm this.
