[Bug 30883] New: Internal links with URL-encoded square brackets are not parsed into wiki links

External links ARE correctly parsed. These work, and are correctly parsed into external links: [http://someurl.com/SomePage?q=someParameter] [http://someurl.com/SomePage?q=%5BsomeParameter%3A] [http://someurl.com/SomePage?q=%5B%5BsomeParameter%3A%3A] These work, and are correctly parsed into internal links: [[SomePage?q=someParameter]] These do NOT work, and not parsed into internal links: [[SomePage?q=%5BsomeParameter%3A]] [[SomePage?q=%5B%5BsomeParameter%3A%3A]] The only ones that do not work are internal links with URL-encoded square brackets. The culprits are the left bracket [ encoded as %5B and the right bracket encoded as %3A. It does not seem to matter how many, in what order, etc. If %5B or %3A exist in the internal link URL, the link will not be parsed into an internal wiki link. The problem does not occur for external links. I marked this bug as major, but not critical, because the bug can be worked around by changing internal links to external links (with the full URL) until the bug is fixed. However, since only a few of the most proactive site administrators are likely to read this bug report, this should be considered a critical bug for ordinary MediaWiki users, and casual administrators that don't read bug reports. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. We should also consider adding an explicit 'stability level' marker in the API help? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. The example I already gave shows this in parameters (that are passed to an extension, probably). It sounds like this functionality has been deliberately blocked, and there's no good reason for it. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6722 --- Comment #9 from Brion Vibber br...@wikimedia.org 2011-09-13 19:25:34 UTC --- r86962 has been provisionally reverted as there are no tests or even ad-hoc examples of what needs to be tested along with the commit. Spacing in the HTML output *should* be testable in the parser test cases (mathParserTests.txt) but it might need a tweak to adjust the user math rendering preferences for HTML tests. Looks like this only describes HTML spacing, not the tex output spacing (which is of course harder to compare in an automated way). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. It should be straightforward to add a parser test case to confirm that \sen x, \sen{x}, \sen(x) work. Not sure about confirming the output spacing on \operatorname{sen} x - but I think it'll make a difference to output hash, and therefore the rendered PNG image filename -- which will turn up on parser test output. [Bug 30889] New: Sections' Show buttons load random articles on Blackberry browser.
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30889 Web browser: --- Bug #: 30889 Summary: Sections' Show buttons load random articles on Blackberry browser. Product: Wikimedia Mobile Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: NEW Severity: critical Priority: Unprioritized Component: devices AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: jac...@gmail.com CC: tf...@wikimedia.org Classification: Unclassified device: Blackberry Bold 9000 operating system: v5.0.0.592 browser: Internet Browser (default Blackberry browser) Javascript support: selected or not, doesn't matter browser identification: Blackberry default view: Column or Page, doesn't matter How to replicate: Go to an article with several sections, e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libya. You're taken instead to http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libya. Scroll down to the 2nd section History and click the Show button. A random page is loaded, e.g. Bob Myrick, or when going back and clicking Show again: Road safety audit. What should happen instead: the section is shown when clicking the Show button. Workaround 1: The sections aren't hidden when the browser identification is set to Firefox, but not everyone may know how to set that, and if done it leads to logs showing more Firefox readers and less Blackberry readers, suggesting that not enough people are using Blackberries to read the site and it's therefor not worth fixing for them. Workaround 2: At the bottom, the link to View this page on regular Wikipedia shows all the information in all the sections. I'm from South Africa, part of the global south. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27324 --- Comment #2 from Brion Vibber br...@wikimedia.org 2011-09-13 21:49:29 UTC --- Reapplied with a slight tweak and parser test cases in r97007. I went ahead and changed \euro to let it render straight through to conservative HTML output (so eg math\euro 200/math renders out as #8364;200 in output, nice and clean!) Note that the commit includes tweaks to HTML output of a few other characters, which seem to be legit. I send an e-mail to the list and got a bounce mail back that I needed to be approved. So I wrote to both the admins of the list. One of them we can't reach at all for the past 45 days (he also participated in http://www.wikilovesmonuments.be ), not by email, not on his talk page on his home wiki. The other I emailed and said he had lost his emailaddress and lost his passwords and can't log in any more. He requested that I should ask for shutting down the list and assign the list to me. It's still up to undergo some more changes, based on the feedback and the results of it. The code should be adaptable to other MediaWiki installations, just like nearly any other MediaWiki extension. Once AFT is ready (ie. 1.0), we could decide to backport it to whatever is the latest release version at that moment if it does not work with that version already. But requesting 1.17 compatibility at this time sounds like a bad idea. I don't see how priorities are relevant here. It may not be a priority to Wikimedia or to you, but that doesn't make the bug invalid. There are branches for a reason. It's still up to undergo some more changes, based on the feedback and the results of it. The code should be adaptable to other MediaWiki installations, just like nearly any other MediaWiki extension. It is. It doesn't contain anything Wikimedia specific as far as I know. There are branches for a reason. Having a branched version of the extension that works with _the current version of MediaWiki_ doesn't seem like an unreasonable request. Indeed. If it was developed in trunk/extensions to work against trunk/phase3, to be deployed when that mediawiki version is reviewed and released. then it would make sense. However it was developed in trunk to work on 1.17wmf1 which is a little further ahead. The branched code for ArticleFeedback in REL1_18 should work with 1.18. The code in trunk should work in trunk MediaWiki 1.19. However the code that was branched into 1.17 was never intended to work in 1.17. If the problems a minor, someone interested could fix the problems in the 1_17 branch. But if it's broken beyond simple patches, we might as well remove it from REL1_17, which makes this bug redundant. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
