It calls a function gM, which is probably defined somewhere in UW, but not in
core. I think it could be replaced with mw.msg, if this is correct please do
so, otherwise move that module back to UploadWizard.

some comments:

1: We should probably have getBCP47LanguageTag( $code, [$variant] )
2: My patch maps getCode() to use getBCP47LanguageTag(), but that was just to
get some quick testing done of course.
3: The table... I'm not entirely sure we want to use wgDummyLanguageCodes. Or
alternatively, wether that table should contain qqq qqz in the way that it does
now. Perhaps adapt wgDummyLanguageCodes into
wgLanguageTagConversion()=wgDummyLanguageCodes ++ qqq+ qqz; or something
simliar

New Option 2 mockup with face icons (updated 12-11-2011)

This updated ticket replaces tickets 32931 and 32945 about feedback form Option
2
(to address concerns from WMF legal that this UI is too close to
GetSatisfaction.com):

1) Change the order of the tabs, as so:
Suggestion, Praise, Problem, Question

3) Replace icons for Option 2 with these new icons from Brandon:
- Suggestion will remain a lightbulb (Brandon made it more consistent with
other icons)
- Praise will be the Moodbar happy face
- Problem will be the Moodbar sad face
- Question will be the Moodbar confused face

Mockup for new 'Learn more' CTA - for users who can't edit protected articles

This a call to action for AFTv5 users who can't edit this article. It links to
a new tutorial where they learn how they can contribute to Wikipedia.

This 'thank you' confirmation is shown after a user posts feedback on a page
that is protected or semi-protected. It includes a call to action (CTA) that
invites the user to learn more about improving Wikipedia. In phase 1.0, this
CTA will be shown when a user cannot edit the page they gave feedback on,
because it is protected (instead of showing the call to edit this article).
More CTAs will be added in phase 1.5.

Here is the text copy for this CTA:

{checkmark} Thanks! Your feedback has been .

Help improve Wikipedia

This encyclopedia is created by people like you.
Can you give us a hand?

Learn more =>

See attached mockup.

Notes:

* The "Learn more" button takes the reader to this New Wikipedia Tutorial:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Article_Feedback_Tool/Tutorial

* Wikimedia's standard CTA button with arrow is used in the above mockup, which
uses small versions of the button and arrow graphics.

* This ticket for a new Call to Learn is related to this ticket about not
showing the Call to Edit on protected pages:

[Bug 32316] PDF export extension has problem with &&& in RTL wikis

2011-12-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #4 from Volker Haas 2011-12-12
09:48:24 UTC ---
This bug is part of a more general problem with right-to-left text:

The pdf framework we are using (reportlab) breaks a paragraph with "inline
styles" like , , , ... into fragments for further processing.
The bidi algorithm is then applied to the individual text fragments.

I don't really know how to fix this problem...

[Bug 32934] AFT v5 Call to Edit CTA Logic Test

--- Comment #5 from Fabrice Florin 2011-12-12 09:50:27

According to Yoni, it is OK for me to re-open a ticket if I can't verify it on
prototype, or if I want to make sure that it gets validated by us.

But I am not sure if that's the best thing to do, there may be a better way. I
want to keep these tickets on my radar, even if you think it has been resolved.
On the other hand, you need a way to tell us when you think it has been solved.
Suggestions welcome.

Also note that this ticket is worth re-opening for another reason, because we
now have a new requirement which we will have to test through this ticket.

It's for a 'Call to Learn more' CTA, to be shown to users who cannot edit an
article (instead of the 'Call to Edit' CTA):

The right thing to do is to use class="mw-content-ltr" instead of dir="rtl".
It's not very obvious, but since 1.18 it's not a bug either.

The content of the bug is now bug 32982 and I was asking if this bug depends on
that.

This bug is, if I choose English in the settings of mobile app and read
User:Liangent/mtest, then tap the link, I expect that it loads
de:User:Liangent/mtest for me inside the app, instead of in a browser
outside.

[Bug 32983] New: Page protection leads to issue in translatable pages

2011-12-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32983

 Web browser: ---
Bug #: 32983
 Summary: Page protection leads to issue in translatable pages
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Translate
AssignedTo: niklas.laxst...@gmail.com
ReportedBy: s.mazel...@xs4all.nl
CC: s.mazel...@xs4all.nl
Classification: Unclassified

Observed on Meta-wiki's Terms of use page. After the page was protected, PT
no longer saw the page as being a translatable page, and the to be translated
version could not be updated until an actual content change was made in the
page. On Special:PageTranslation it was shown in a seperate section, with only
options to delete the translateble page. It did not appear to impact the
possibility to translate the page.

Step to reproduce (most probably):
1. create a translatable page and mark it for translation on
Special:PageTranslation
2. protect the page
3. observe Special:PageTranslation. This will show the detailed unexpected
behaviour.

Expected behaviour: page protection should now disrupt the "marking a revision
for translation" on Special:PageTranslation.

When i enable $wgEnotifUseRealName the emails mediawiki creates should contain
a realname instead of a username. That seems to be correct except for one thing

Take the link below that is present in most of the emails created by Mediawiki

http://localhost/wiki/Special:EmailUser/Skr

"Skr" being the username.

The problem is that when $wgEnotifUseRealName is enabled, the Skr would be
replaced with the realname in the link in the email. This effectively breaks
the link as the mediawiki installation does not recognize the realname.

Was a bug in 1.17 and is still a bug in 1.18

Without investigating here is my theory: protecting a page makes a new revision
in the page history. Since it is not an edit action the onPageSave hooks are
not executed, and Translate does not see any info about this new revision, and
thus thinks it is not a translatable page.

window.gM = mediaWiki.language.getMessageFunction( options );

Yes, it looks to come from MWEmbedSupport, jQueryMsg (I believe this is wanted
to be moved into trunk soon) and UploadWizard

Quite a few extensions seem to be using it too...

As per IRC, svn move is fine (as it's svn copy && svn delete)

Bug #: 32987
 Summary: The language used to render SVGs should be definable
 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: unspecified

Because we convert our SVGs to PNGs before display, we effectively "lose" the
translations that be encoded as part of the SVG1.1 spec in the process -- the
server just renders everything as though the systemLanguage is English.

We should therefore look to support a "lang=" parameter, for example:

We can then implement pretty tools for encoding the translations.

[Bug 32987] The language used to render SVGs should be definable

--- Comment #2 from Brion Vibber 2011-12-12 16:17:03 UTC

Took a quick peek, haven't tested yet.

A few offhand notes:

* I'm not sure I like adding more parameters to ThumbnailImage's constructor,
it feels like the whole thing should be refactored to take an array with a map
of params

* if no language is specified, language should probably default to the current
parsing context's content language -- this would allow eg an image from Commons
to simply be included as on fr.wikipedia.org without
manually adding |lang=fr. However this may add default params or otherwise be
funky...

* we're going to want ways to serve SVG files directly in which case we may
need to actually modify the file when serving a localized version; this'll
probably want some future infrastructure though so don't worry about it too
much yet.

* we may want to turn a lot of the magic words on files from handler-specific
things into generic items -- in which case we should make sure 'lang' is
available

* need some way to pass this lang parameter over the API for ForeignApiRepo
("InstantCommons"), so third-party sites using images from Commons can also use
the localization.

* thumbnail 404 handling _may_ need adjustment to match the extra lang
parameter. Need to check on status of this; we were talking about moving some
of the logic around.

Some specific notes:

* SvgHandler::parseParamString looks wrong; it assumes language codes are in
form ([a-z]{2,}). They may be more like ([a-z]+(?:-[a-z]+)*) -- extensions for
script or language variants (pt-br, zh-hans, etc).

* I'd recommend against having two variants of the magic word; stick with just
"lang" for simplicity

Patch v2

Updated patch to incorporate Brion's specific notes.

> I'm not sure I like adding more parameters to ThumbnailImage's constructor,

Agreed, will have a crack at this.

> if no language is specified, language should probably default to the current

manually adding |lang=fr. However this may add default params or otherwise be

Others have raised this idea. The problem I saw is that it makes the deployment
very heavy on the servers as they would immediately go and re-render every SVG
to a filename that includes "langfr" (or whatever the default was set to) --
even SVGs that had no translations (99.99% of them). You could, perhaps,
mass-change the filenames of SVG-originally PNGs to include "langfr-" but...
yeah...

> we're going to want ways to serve SVG files directly in which case we may
need to actually modify the file when serving a localized version; this'll
probably want some future infrastructure though so don't worry about it too
much yet.

This is a tricky one. I mean, you can actually just serve the SVG with
translations: so we have to work out if the majority of users visitors browsing
"foreign" Wikipedias wants to see the SVGs in their language or the one the
caption writer had in mind.

Not intelligent enough to comment on your other points :)

Hello,

I just updated to 1.7b1, and most of my queries are not sorted anymore.

You'll find an example on http://www.delibris.fr/Liste_des_auteurs, it's a
simple query:

I tried adding "|sort=Auteur", but it still does not work.
I tried with other formats too, without success.

In previous SMW version, it was using the default MW sort system.

Cheers,

I have tried this in 2 installations of 1.18 of which one was a more or less
clean installation.

$wgDefaultSkin = 'vector';
require_once("$IP/extensions/Vector/Vector.php");
$wgVectorFeatures['collapsibletabs']['global'] = false;
$wgVectorFeatures['collapsibletabs']['user'] = false;
$wgVectorFeatures['collapsiblenav']['admin_tools'] = false;
$wgVectorFeatures['collapsiblenav']['user'] = false;
$wgVectorFeatures['editwarning']['global'] = true;
$wgVectorFeatures['editwarning']['user'] = true;
$wgVectorFeatures['expandablesearch']['global'] = false;
$wgVectorFeatures['expandablesearch']['user'] = false;

None os these settings work, nor do the settings show up in the prefs (I assume
tab 2 "appeareance").

Also I find it extremely confusing that Vector is a default core skin, but it
requires the extension to en- or disable some features of the skin.

If you set both 'user' and 'global' to false, then you won't see the
preferences, no. In order to see a preference, you have to set 'user' to true.

There is definitely no problem with sorting regular properties, I just tested
that. However, you are sorting using an inverse property. I sort of doubt this
ever worked (but you are saying it did - are you _very_ sure?) and am tempted
to either mark this as invalid wontfix, or turn it into an enhancement request.

Cool.

Thanks for being such a good sport!

We're reviewing the rest of the community bugs today and tomorrow, will
probably end up closing a lot of them, assuming all goes according to plan.

Onward!

We need to test that the random bucketing between feedback forms (option 1, 2
and 3) work as intended.

What is the best way to verify that it does assign random bucketing correctly?

[Bug 32988] Queries sort broken in 1.7b1

--- Comment #2 from Pierre Réveillon 2011-12-12

I updated from 1.6.1 (but I also updated MW from 1.17 to 1.18 the same day).
I'm absolutely sure this was working before, and the website editor confirmed
that. It was even working for non-existing pages (Like in
http://www.delibris.fr/Liste_des_%C3%A9diteurs).

I was using inversed properties quite everywhere because the wiki wasn't
completely populated, but now I could query on categories.
So if I'm the only one complaining on that, you can turn it to enh.

Let's test that we are collecting the data we need through clicktracking:

* Edit CTA clicks
* Edit CTA impressions
* Learn more CTA clicks
* Learn more CTA impressions
* Edit saves
* Edit attempts
* Feedback link clicks (Option C, vertical button)

This is based on this requirement:

* Use the ClickTracking extension
(http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ClickTracking) to measure
click-through rate of CTA (clicks/CTA impressions) and edit save rate
(successful edits/attempted edits).

[Bug 32857] Only show AFTv5 on articles in special AFT5 category

2011-12-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32857

--- Comment #5 from Yoni Shostak 2011-12-12 18:48:29 UTC ---
Ok, here's the story with displaying unlisted articles:
1. As per current requirement we are to use the existing mechanism for
selecting articles
2. However, in the existing implementation, an unlisted article can still "win
the lottery" and have AFT displayed.
3. My suggestion: remove the lottery functionality.

Please advise a.s.a.p.
