The Tcler's Wiki is not the "tcl fastcgi homepage". Also the information is 13
years old. Quite a time. I hereby request that package to be installed as a
tool maintainer. See https://github.com/nagarajanchinnasamy/tclfcgi for an
apparently working and maintained version of the package. To give you something
to package.

I had a look at the parser measurement included in each rendered page's source
code:

NewPP limit report
Parsed by mw1086
CPU time usage: 7.892 seconds
Real time usage: 8.483 seconds
Preprocessor visited node count: 399/100
Preprocessor generated node count: 3180/150
Post‐expand include size: 19211/2048000 bytes
Template argument size: 0/2048000 bytes
Highest expansion depth: 2/40
Expensive parser function count: 0/500

Does not look critical in any way.

My observation on large pages is that the edit & save is done correctly, but
the rendering of the altered page back to the browser fails due to time limits.
So refreshing the page after a while will show the changed content.

The Ottoman Turkish language is the first language that has been granted the
status of "eligible" for the Wikidata project. It does not need localisation
and it is unlikely that it will be enabled on another project.'

unbelievabe ! There's a element if you want to safely embed a foreign
language in an unknown script so that you can place after this element a
punctuation on the right side.
There's also CSS style "unicode-bidi:" values for directional control if you
want full embedding.
There are also quirks possible in previous versions of HTML4 (it requires using
absolute positioning as ain a relative element container).

ULS Kannada bug

In the ULS for Kannada used in Kannada Wikipedia, the text used for depicting
Kannada, in Kannada font, at the top (see the attachment) is wrong. It shows as
"ಕನ್ನದ". The correct form is "ಕನ್ನಡ". This may be due to the use of wrong glyph
for the character (0CA1) or wrongly using the character 0CA6 in place of 0CA1.

Whenever a repository changes state, the relevant pages in git.wikimedia.org
should be purged from Varnish. Currently cache expiration is not tied to Git
activity, with the consequence that git.wm.o views are often stale.

This could be accomplished by writing a small tool that subscribes to Gerrit's
event stream (like grrrit-wm). On each merged commit, the tool would construct
the set of URLs that need to be updated, and purge them from Varnish.

I would geuss coincidence (small cache time = high probability you will
sometimes edit the page just before the 5 minute ttl is up)

Also from what I understand, small js files that are below some threshold
aren't squid cached. That doesn't seem to be affecting you.

Yes a hit header implies cached response. There are layers of varnish, which is
why you get both hit/miss depending on which layer had the cached object.

The other header to pay attention to is age, which tells you how old the cached
object is in seconds

This was the only current bug I found speaking about the introduction of
RLM/LRM to be allowed. I demonstrate here that they can cause troubles not just
in article title names, but anywhere: in the wiki code (of pages but more
seriously as well code of templates), in the PHP code, or in a Lua module, if
they are left invisible there (or inserted by some magic or bugs in the wiki
editors using one of these unexpectedly altered PHP or Lua modules).

Which is why I said you were off topic and asked you to file a separate bug.

The title of this bug is "Allow saving pages with LRM and RLM in titles,
showing a warning and requiring a user right" if your comment isn't about
titles with rlms in them, you are doing something wrong in commenting on this
bug.

There is a lot of bugs in bugzilla. If new bugs are filed as off topic comments
on existing bugs, they are significanyly less likely to be fixed.

number you want to use again, because if you don't, the dialog box that appears

regression will be fixed quickly. (I'd feel better if it were prioritized as at

When I try it (PHP 5.5.5-1 in Debian unstable), both $property and the
assignment to ->foo are required to segfault. Neither one alone does it.

It seems that the cause is a change in PHP 5.4 (likely c5237d82b) that changed
the handling of properties so a call to object_properties_init() is required if
you use a custom create_object handler. If that's documented anywhere official,
I haven't been able to find it. I did find mention of the requirement (but not
the change) in an online book[1] and passing mention of a related change in a
blog's comments.[2]

2013-11-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28428

Did I say that there was a RLM in a title ? No.

I said that I see since mid october RLMs appearing randomly on various pages
that have been saved at that time. Without any warning.

The result of {{#language:be-x-old}} is reproductible by you, it's definitely
not anywhere in the user-editable wiki code, it is in the code implementing the
parser function (which must have been edited with the same wiki code editor
which currently randomly inserts some RLM when saving pages, even if the user
never typed them (not present on the keyboard).

They probably come from the internal code of some javascript supporting the
code editors, but I did not investigate long about them.

Using named (or numbered) character entities in the code editor for all
invisible format controls (ZWSP, WJ, Bidi controls) is certainly a good
solution, even if the server later (or the javascript supporting the form
validation before sending to the server) stores them as single characters.

At least we'll see them in the wiki code, which is not the WYSIWYG form you'll
see in the preview or in the generated HTML when viewing pages.

For the VisualEditor, it may require some work to choose how to render their
presence in the editable preview.

Huh? We never did this (allow rlm in title). If parser funcs are randomly
returning rlm's that's probably a separate bug. If rlm's are appearing in
wikitext, thats probably somebody's browser or msybe ve (?).

The idea of making rlms in wikitext auto convert to entities is probably a good
one, but only tangentislly (at best) related to this bug. Please file a
separate bug about that.

Hi,

This is for the Google Maps form input. You can see the issue here:

http://semantic-mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Yaron%27s_location&action=formedit

Doing the "Look up coordinates" call should ideally zoom the map in to a
street-level view - that was the behavior for a long time, but it must have
stopped at some point.

Hi,

You can see the issue here:

http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Yaron%27s_location

This page calls a template, which calls #display_point - the "coordinates"
parameter is set to null, while the "zoom" parameter is set to 7. So, what
shows up on the map is a highly-zoomed view of a location somewhere off the
coast of Africa. Instead, if the coordinates (or address, etc.) are null, I
would think #display_point should ignore the "zoom" parameter, and always set
to it the lowest zoom level, i.e. show the whole world.

If we copy it accross, then the logging table entries will need to be copied
over to. These have local user_text and user_id fields. They would need to be
replaced with the correct local values...

How many apps are on mw.org? Maybe they can just be recreated on metawiki?

We originally planned to use meta as the central wiki for OAuth. Before we do
this, we need to make sure:

* All of the help pages are copied across
* OAuth admin user rights are assigned to appropriate users - what's the
process for this on meta?

We probably also need to make sure we have solid policies established for app
management (approvals, revocation, etc.) and who is an admins.

Once that is in place, we can copy the database across. Since we track user's
centralauth id's, no user id translations will need to happen.

The Mobile team (specifically Jon Robson) would like to add a browser test that
can spoof a specific geolocation that we know will returns result on the
"Nearby" page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Nearby)

An initial patch for such a test is in Gerrit:
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/92018/

At least for Firefox, the necessary "about:permissions" site-specific setting
can be saved in a custom profile, and it is possible for WebDriver to load an
existing profile on demand via simple steps like this:

require 'watir-webdriver'
driver = Watir::Browser.new :firefox, :profile => 'Test for WMF mobile'
driver.goto('http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Nearby')

This works fine, but to make the test usable in multiple environments, profiles
need to be portable. Unfortunately, the site-specific setting of interest
(Boolean "geo") is stored in a SQLite database (permissions.sqlite), which does
not seem to make that profile setting very portable.

We need to find a way to make this setting portable, so that a browser test for
the "Nearby" page can successfully set geolocation settings AND run in any
environment, including Vagrant VMs and Jenkins (CloudBees).

   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: REL1_21 branch
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: SemanticForms

When a Semantic Form contains a {{{section}}} and the user includes a
subsection header (=== Subsection ===) in the content for that section, the
resulting page content will not be parsed correctly when the page is edited
with form, probably because the first two == of the subection header are
recognized as a section header.

From a developer mailing list conversation, the code in question is likely
located at lines 1415-1450 of /includes/SF_FormPrinter.php.

[Bug 57283] Saving to existing page from Special:FormEdit doesn't explain why it fails

2013-11-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57283

MediaWiki 1.21.2 (404e36a), SMW 1.8.0.5 (6ed064d), and SF is the latest from
Git, ef10534 (commit date Tue Nov 19). So I must be doing something wrong! :-)

Sorry to be a bother, but can I just confirm that the form above works for you
when:
* edited at Special:FormEdit/Test
* the Test_One page already exists
* Type is set to 'One'
?

I keep getting the "Modifying Test_One failed." error. :-(

It works perfectly the first time, to create the page initially, but then
subsequent attempts (which I assumed would be able to edit the page) do not
work.

The reason for not editing via Special:FormEdit/Test/Test_One is that I don't
want to have to know the page name before entering.

[Bug 57330] New: Allow value separator in CSV result format

Bug ID: 57330
Summary: Allow value separator in CSV result format
   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal

This is an enhancement request for the CSV format.

It would be nice if we could specify a separator between values of the same
property.
Currently the CSV format only has the "sep" parameter to separate "fields"
(values of different properties), but not values of the same property.
http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:CSV_format

Current behavior (only comma as a separator):
Parameter:
|sep=~

Result:
"Property1"~"Propert2"~"Property3"~...
"P1value1,P1value2"~"P2value1"~"P3value1,P3value2"

Wanted behavior (other possible separators):
Parameter:
|sep=~
|valuesep=||

Result:
"Property1"~"Propert2"~"Property3"~...
"P1value1||P1value2"~"P2value1"~"P3value1||P3value2"

Created attachment 13855
  --> https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=13855&action=edit
Line break in German "All notifications"

The Echo overlay contains a footer with two links: "All notifications" and
"Preferences". In German these links are a little bit longer: "Alle
Benachrichtigungen" and "Einstellungen". Since the footer uses fixed pixel
widths there is an unnecessary line break (see the screenshot).

The solution is very simple. Simply remove these two fixed widths and let the
browser decide how to split the little table (it uses "display: table;" and
therefor is a table) in the footer.

#mw-echo-overlay-footer {
width: 100%; /* add this */
}
#mw-echo-overlay-link {
width: 149px; /* remove this */
}
#mw-echo-overlay-pref-link {
width: 174px; /* remove this */
}
