Let's say a user has two tabs open, their watchlist and their preferences page. However, they have been logged out because of the session expiry. So when they open their browser, Special:Watchlist and Special:Preferences redirect them to the login page. If you type descending into cave in the media dialog on en.wiki, and then keep deleting and re-adding the final e, you'll always get different results. I was more likely to get to File:Descending_into_cave.jpg (and to see it as the first match) when I only typed descending into. As a temporary, suboptimal workaround, you can immediately find it by copy/pasting File:Descending_into_cave.jpg in the media dialog. It seems to me, testing this with very common words such as cats, dog, house, but also with names (Anna Frank, Katy Perry, Angela Merkel) that as soon as you type those words, you get quite unrelated results. The re-elections from 2014-08-30 ~03:30 2014-09-02 ~10:50 (see comment #5) happened past the buffer increase, but both still exhibit missing sequence numbers. This would remove the awkwardness of using the quantity data type for things like the number of neutrons in a carbon core, or the number of planets in a solar system. For properties like population, +/-0 is unlikely to be true, but the current default of +/-1 is hardly better for that. Migration note: Existing properties could be converted from quantity to count by updating the Property entity (the API doesn't allow this, but we could do it via a maintenance script), and then re-generating the property-info entries for those properties. That adds two 2px of margin (which are not part of the SVG sizes). Then on the inline image element, we add another 2px.
