[Wikitech-l] Update to jQuery 1.9 and jQuery UI 1.9

2012-12-06 Thread Jan Luca
Hi,

is there already a schedule to update jQuery and jQuery UI to 1.9 or are
there problems at moment? I want to use the new tooltip widget of jQuery UI
1.9 [1].

Best regards,
Jan

Re: [Wikitech-l] Moodle & Wikiversity - new Moodle plugin interfaces with MediaWiki

2013-04-16 Thread Jan Luca
Hallo Sumana,

thank you for your support. I have added Wvk in CC so he will get the
messages, too.

The main part of the Moodle-plugin is ready but I have thought about some
others things that we could do:

1. Create a Wikiversity Moodle-theme
2. Create a MW-extension which shows some information about a Moodle-course
in a wiki page
3. Add another admin for Moodle and the Labs project (wikiversity-sandbox)

About localisation: I already planned to contact the people from
translatewiki.net to ask if they could add my plugin

About testing: http://sandbox.wikiversity.wmflabs.org/moodle is open for
everybody to use and test it. I would be happy when as many as possible
would test the plugin and report bugs to me.

Best regards,
Jan

"Moodle is a free and open source learning management system (LMS).
James Neill has made some valuable contributions about how Moodle can be
used in conjunction with Wikiversity as a platform for open education.
To minimise the need for exporting/importing content from one learning
management system (LMS) class site to another and then to another
institution Wikiversity may be used as an open educational content
repository.

A moodle-plugin has been developed by Jan Luca (German Wikiversity) to
include content into Moodle hosted on Wikiversity by using a simple tag:
[Include-WV][/Include-WV]. The plug-in can be tested on
http://sandbox.wikiversity.wmflabs.org/moodle. For further information
contact Jan Luca or Wvk. This move is part of an initiative to restart
German Wikiversity that seeks to invite new contributors to the project."

Thanks for working on this, Jan Luca and Wyk! I see the code is at
https://github.com/JanLuca/Moodle_Wikiversity_plugin . Are you looking for
help of any sort -- design, testing, localisation, etc.?

Hallo Sumana,

I have created a section for creating a Moodle-extension for MW:

It would be nice if somebody else would help with item 1 because I'm not the
best designer. There should be people with more experience than me.

Jan, thank you for working on this! If you are willing to mentor a student
or new contributor in working on items 1 or 2, maybe you could add some
details about what would be desired and add them to
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Mentorship_programs/Possible_projects .

Thanks,

Ok, at least with you there is enough technical expertise to get the project
going if an interested student shows up.

Please create a related enhancement request in Bugzilla, under Mediawiki
extensions >> Extension requests, and link it from the wiki entry.

Thank you for contributing your skills mentoring newcomers!

Betreff: [Wikitech-l] Error After Upgrade on Ubuntu

Hi,

I'm running Mediawiki 1.11.2 on Ubuntu 8, and after a recent update,
I'm now getting the error:

Warning: Missing argument 5 for MediaWiki::initialize(), called in
/usr/share/mediawiki/index.php on line 89 and defined in
/var/lib/mediawiki/includes/Wiki.php on line 52

Fatal error: Call to a member function getCheck() on a non-object in
/var/lib/mediawiki/includes/Wiki.php on line 137

Why would an update break Mediawiki's homepage, and how can I fix it?
Interestingly, Google returns lot's of sites with this error, but
they're all Mediawiki sites containing the error, and not anyone
discussing why the error occurs or how to fix it.

Regards,
Chris

You can make the link yourself, but someone has to make you a coder
first. Ideally, Brion would do this when giving people commit access.

No. You can just use wfMsg('messagename', array('parsemag')); IIRC,
and any {{PLURAL:}} calls in the messages should automatically be
expanded.

As a general rule, you never need to include() or require_once() any
files: the autoloader does that automatically.

Generally you should be using the database wrapper functions, which in
most cases will do escaping when generating queries. See docs:

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Database_access

When you do manually generate some SQL you might need to quote manually,
in which case you should use the addQuotes() or strencode() methods on
your database access rather than using MySQL functions directly, since
we support PostgreSQL and (in theory) other DB backends as well.

Yes, you need to escape all input before doing select or insert.
However, the database has helper functions to help you do it, you
don't need to be calling mysql_real_escape_string() directly.

Hello,

I have just seen: If $mode = LIST_COMMA is in Database::makeList() used(by
Database::insert is $mode = LIST_COMMA used), then call the function
$this->addQuotes( $value ), so that you don't need to escape manually your
input.

Line: 1436 in  function makeList( $a, $mode = LIST_COMMA ), line 1390-1440 in

Re: [Wikitech-l] How to submit a patch for Mediawiki extensions?

2009-05-15 Thread Jan Luca
Hello,

I understand you that you have resolve a bug in a extension? Now you want to
publish this change?

If the extension is on the Wikimedia SVN, you need commit
access(http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Commit_access). That is only needed if
you interested in a "long work", else send the files with a mail or open a
new bug in bugzilla(http://bugs.wikimedia.org) with this as attachment.

[Wikitech-l] Problem with Upload API

2009-10-21 Thread Jan Luca
Hi,

I want to use the new Upload-API. I have seen that I cannot upload per URL
to Commons because I (my bot) haven't the
upload_by_url right. So I change my tool to the file argument:

$new_file = ;
$url = ;
$desc = ;
$filename = ;
$this->server = 'commons.wikimedia.org';

$connect = fsockopen ($this->server, 80, $err_num, $err_str, 10);

$token = $this->get_token();

$file = file_get_contents( $url );
$query = "POST
/w/api.php?format=php&action=upload&filename=".urlencode($new_file)."&token=
".urlencode($token)."&file=".urlencode($filename)."&comment=".urlencode($des
c)." HTTP/1.1
Host: ".$this->server."
Cookie: ".$cookies."
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7)
Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Content-Type: multipart/form-data
Content-Length: ".strlen($file)."
Content-Disposition: form-data; name=\"".$filename."\";
filename=\"".$filename."\"

".$file."
\r\n\r\n";
fputs ($connect,$query);

But now I get this error: array(1) { ["error"]=>  array(2) { ["code"]=>
string(12) "missingparam" ["info"]=> string(69) "One of the parameters
sessionkey, file, url, enablechunks is required" } }

What is wrong?

Viele Grüße
Jan

You do set your content-type to multipart/form-data, but your content
is not actually multipart/form-data encoded. A multipart/form-data
encoded request looks something like this:

POST / HTTP/1.1
Content-Type: multipart/form-data; boundary=abc

Content-Type: application/octet-stream

--abc

Hi Chad!
Here is my USERINFO.
My real name is Dmitriy Sintsov, my irc/mail/whatever nick is QuestPC.

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Developers
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:QuestPC

I am developer of QPoll extension
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:QPoll

Sorry for delayed answer - but I wanted to clean up code of my extension
first. Also, I've had (and unfortunately still have) the problem with
ssh+svn authorization at svn.wikimedia.org. Basically, I can't even
checkout extensions subdir in secure mode.

This is really strange - I am not an expert in ssh, but I've used ssh
publickey authorization for remote backups. That doesn't even require to
setup ssh-authd. Unfortunately I cannot get so easily with svn. ssh -vvv
shows that publickey fails, even though I've re-generated it and Brion
Vibber probably replaced it in authorized_keys, because my request is in
archive:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Commit_access_requests/Archive_1
http://ingress.uniyar.ac.ru/~sdv/id_rsa.pub

Tomorrow I will try to ask local expert on this (an local, but real one
- an author of linux lftp program).

Betreff: [Wikitech-l] wiki(m|p)edia.org on IE8 compatibility blacklist

wikimedia.org, wikipedia.org, wikipedia.de and wiktionary.org are on the IE8
compatibility blacklist again (you can check by opening
res://iecompat.dll/iecompatdata.xml in IE8 or at
http://ie8blacklist.appspot.com/ ), which means that IE8 renders Wikipedia
pages
just as IE7 would. I see no obvious difference when switching into IE8
standards
mode. Does someone know the reason for the blacklisting? If not, could
someone
from the foundation ask them to remove these sites from the list?
(Information
on removal requests can be found at the end of this article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd567845%28VS.85%29.aspx )

wfRunHooks( 'SkinTemplateTabs', array( $this,
&$content_actions ) );
} else {//THIS IS THE LINE,
//IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE OF THE BUG WHICH FOLLOWS
/* show special page tab */

$content_actions[$this->mTitle->getNamespaceKey()] =
array(
'class' => 'selected',
'text' => wfMsg('nstab-special'),
'href' => $wgRequest->getRequestURL(), //
@bug 2457, 2510  //!!!?
);

wfRunHooks(
'SkinTemplateBuildContentActionUrlsAfterSpecialPage', array(
&$this, &$content_actions ) );

I will be trying.

Re: [Wikitech-l] ERR_INVALID_REQ when trying upload a file with API

2011-01-02 Thread Jan Luca
This request is part of the CommonsHelper2 tool. The complete source code is
available under https://svn.toolserver.org/svnroot/p_commonshelper2/truck/.
This special request is the method upload() in the upload_class.php.

Best regards,
Jan

You should file a bug at https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/

Be sure to include the exact file name if the problem occurs with only one
specific file. I didn't see the file name in the text file you linked; I
assume it comes from $url, which isn't defined in that text file. Or better,
attach a copy of the problematic file to the bug report if you think it's
appropriate to do so. More specificity about what program/script/tool you're
using to try to upload the file might be helpful as well.
